Animal (2023)
Animal: A Disappointing Dive into Bollywood's Clichés
Recently had the opportunity to watch the 2023 Bollywood film "Animal," and I must say, it was an utter disappointment. Expecting an evening of entertainment, I convinced my friends to join me, only to regret it deeply. The movie, with its three-hour duration, was an exhaustive ordeal with little to no engaging content. The storyline was disjointed and seemed to lack any logical structure, making it hard to follow or invest in the plot.
The performances, especially by the lead actors, were underwhelming. Ranbir Kapoor, despite his previous successes, failed to deliver a convincing role, and Rashmika Mandanna's acting was far from compelling. Their characters lacked depth and believability, rendering the emotional scenes ineffective.
However, the film wasn't entirely devoid of talent. Bobby Deol's dance sequence was a surprising highlight, showing a glimmer of skill in an otherwise dreary movie. His performance brought a brief moment of enjoyment to an otherwise tedious viewing experience.
So, It was disheartening to see such potential wasted on a movie that neither entertains nor enlightens. As the credits rolled, my friends and I were left with a sense of regret for the time lost, a sentiment echoed by many others in the audience. This film, unfortunately, is not one I would recommend, except perhaps for Bobby Deol's commendable dance performance.
Choona (2023)
Minority appeasement! Why everytime?
Absolutely, your dissatisfaction resonates. The initial episode held promise, but sadly, the show spiraled into a quagmire of clichés and oversimplified narratives. The communal angle, especially, is disappointingly one-dimensional. It portrays the peaceful community as constant victims, amplifying the "love jihad" concept - a narrative that is not only outdated but also divisive.
It's almost like the series is tailored to appease a particular segment rather than presenting a balanced, nuanced story. It's 2023, and yet, we are served reheated leftovers of communal narratives that do nothing to foster unity or reflect the complex, multifaceted reality of our society.
The real sting lies in the predictability and the lack of depth - each episode is a step further away from the engaging, intricate plotlines we crave, and a step closer to a monotonous echo of the same old song. Even Jimmy's commendable acting couldn't salvage a story that was set up to be mundane.
Afwaah (2023)
Afwaah: A Dubious Parade of Bias and Disinformation
"Afwaah" turns out to be a disappointing misfire despite its star-studded cast, anchored by a poorly developed and biased storyline. In its attempt to expose media bias and fake news, it ironically undercuts its own credibility by showcasing a glaring bias towards one particular community, thus becoming the very thing it criticizes. The depiction of one community as the sole victim, while painting the other in broad strokes as corrupt and treacherous, shows an obvious bias and attempts to manipulate the audience's perspective. It's disheartening to see talents like Nawazuddin Siddiqui associated with such a skewed portrayal. This film is a clear example of peaceful community appeasement and sends a message that can only increase division and misunderstanding. It's high time filmmakers stopped peddling such propagandistic narratives and started telling stories that reflect the complex reality of our diverse society.
Ms. Marvel (2022)
not recommended
Unfortunately, after watching the "Ms. Marvel" series, I found it to be a disappointing and one-sided portrayal of a complex subject. While the series attempts to provide a fresh perspective on the comic book character, Kamala Khan, it falls short in presenting a balanced and fair representation.
The series appears to be biased towards a particular religion and tends to portray "the peacefull religion" as victims in several scenes. This simplification undermines the complexity of the issues surrounding religious identity and discrimination. By not providing a more nuanced portrayal, the series fails to promote genuine understanding and discussion.
Moreover, the overemphasis on religious aspects detracts from the central superhero story, leading to a less engaging and immersive viewing experience. While the performances by the actors are okaish, the writing seems to prioritize a specific agenda over a well-rounded and captivating narrative.overemphasis on a particular religion's aspects.

"Sher Shivraj" is an action-packed and exhilarating movie that showcases the incredible talent of Chinmay as the lead character. The film's storyline is compelling, and it takes you on a thrilling journey of revenge and redemption, with plenty of twists and turns along the way.
Chinmay delivers an outstanding performance, bringing depth and nuance to the character of Shivraj. He seamlessly blends the physical demands of the role with the emotional complexities of the character, making him a force to be reckoned with on the screen.

Laal Singh Chaddha (2022)
Disappointing and unoriginal
"Lal Singh Chaddha" is a disappointing and unoriginal film that shamelessly copies the storyline of the classic American movie "Forest Gump." Despite featuring some of Bollywood's top actors, the movie fails to deliver a compelling storyline or engaging characters.
Aamir Khan's portrayal of the titular character is lackluster, lacking the depth and nuance that made the original "Forest Gump" character so iconic. The supporting cast is equally unimpressive, failing to add any real value or interest to the story.
The movie's cinematography and music are forgettable, failing to make any impact on the viewer. Overall, "Lal Singh Chaddha" is a forgettable film that is not worth your time or money.

Karthikeya 2 (2022)
Great storytelling and exciting action sequences
"Karthikeya 2" is a thrilling action movie that is sure to entertain viewers who appreciate great storytelling and exciting action sequences. As a viewer with respect for the Hindu religion, I was impressed by how the movie portrays the mythology and beliefs of Hinduism in a respectful and engaging way.
The movie's protagonist, Karthikeya, is based on the Hindu god Kartikeya, and the film explores his story and mythology in a way that is both informative and entertaining. The movie also features references to other Hindu gods and beliefs, such as Lord Shiva and the importance of spiritual devotion.
One of the things that impressed me most about the movie was the attention to detail in its depiction of Hindu culture and traditions. The stunning visuals and vibrant colors captured the beauty and grandeur of Hindu temples and ceremonies, making the film a true feast for the senses.
The film also features a great cast of talented actors who bring their characters to life with passion and energy. Nikhil Siddhartha, in particular, delivers an excellent performance as Karthikeya, showcasing both his physical prowess and his emotional depth.
