Obviously Holmes
6 April 2022
Not my favorite episode but it still deserves a 10. This episode more than ever feels like a modern, medical Sherlock Holmes. A genius taking insane risks to solve a mystery, putting his life at risk, using the most unconventional methods possible, just to satisfy his obsession. Also drugs, but honestly Drugs weren't a focal point in Sherlock Holmes like everyone suggests. Beyond just recreating, and alluding this episode is extremely original, being just accurate enough to the real world to sell the story. It hits that sweet point between painstakingly and annoyingly accurate to completely removed from reality. (If you want reality, buy a window instead of a TV.)

Nurse Jackie (2009–2015)
9/10
Honestly misunderstood.
7 November 2021
Preamble: People complain about the "unrealistic" nature, over the top drama and even the campiness despite going on to love any other movie or tv show. Every piece of literature takes creative license to bend reality. To say this show is bad because it is unrealistic is to say Sherlock Holmes is irredeemably horrible.

Now for the review, the show is unbelievably intriguing, drawing you in to the downfall of Jackie. The campiness contrasts amazingly with the horrifically dark storyline. Jackie is not a "strong female protagonist." You can watch it and just cheer for women mindlessly as Jackie tells everyone what for, however it's pretty obvious Jackie is a narcissist and menace to her family. There's nothing wrong with watching a show mindlessly. It's entertainment, not a math exam, however it's more enjoyable to rewatch and realize the vile stuff Jackie does. Just watch the show, to understand how much of a conflicting antihero she is, versus reading about it through some schlub on the internet.

For my final point, Edie Falco is phenomenal. She went from a morally just woman in an amoral environment in The Sopranos to the complete opposite: an amoral junkie who portrays herself as an innocent nurse and loving mother. She perfectly conveys Jackie, and for that matter, any character she's ever portrayed. If you truly want to see Edie Falco be a strong, intelligent woman, watch The Sopranos, because this is not it. She portrays an horrible woman in a campy, bright world, where everything falls apart around her from her own undoing here. At the surface level, she's strong and confident, but the creators want to portray beneath the exterior something darker.

In conclusion, it's a great show that was only marred by production issues with contract disputes forcing actors to disappear early in the show. I do not want to count production companies being production companies against the show, but it is what it is. Amazing characters, acting and deeper meanings that aren't necessary to obsess over to enjoy. If you watch this show, and think it was a soap opera, or ill conceived, then maybe rewatch it with a critical view of the protagonist, as hard as it is to hate Edie Falco.

The best bad movie of all time
1 November 2021
I don't want to spoil this fantastic movie's amazing... I don't even know what to call it. It's certainly not a plot. There's memorable characters such as making out couple, dead dog, demon child and the most beloved Torgo. There is a wife brawl consisting of 6 wives that goes on for way longer than you'd expect.

There's constant Ed, Edd and Eddy music, the best being Torgo's themes. Torgo's them is almost 1 full measure of doots played on loop. I'm not joking there's no better way to describe the looped measure of music played 3 different times. It's not beeps or honks, it's doots.

I highly encourage anyone who doesn't mind 10 minutes of total nonsense as an intro to watch this epic.

Squid Game: Unsu joeun nal (2021)
Season 1, Episode 9

Completely ruined the one redeeming part of the show
13 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The old guy was the only intriguing/endearing/interesting part of the show. The writers decided to be cowards and ruin it, for a big twist that did nothing but irritate the viewer. The concept was already barely hanging on at this point, but to have a dumb twist that held itself together only through wacky and wild coincidence proved this show is pointless. The old guy running the game ruined the only meaningful character development.

The idiot protagonist refuses to use the money he earned even though he decided to compete knowing that he would lead people to their deaths. The complete dunce thought, "I'll be the only one alive, you're all going to die, and I'm going to earn that money" then turned around to "oh no, I didn't think you would all die. I can't use this blood money. The death game was only jokes."

I just can't put into words how dumb this show became. Imagine playing the death game and then feeling guilty because you played the death game, like what the duck did you expect???

Heart wrenchingly beautiful
5 April 2021
A tragedy that will make you smile, for after all the abuse John Merrick suffers, in the end he's truly happy. Don't dig into the "historical inaccuracies" like a loser, the story this film tells is incredible. Everything about it is excellent.

I don't even know.

Decided to watch it on the off chance I was wrong about the trailer.

Do you have ADD? Are you between the ages of 7 and 15? Do you have nothing better to watch? Then you would love this movie. It's trash, but if you want some trash to throw on while you scroll a soul sucking social media, then this is for you.
