Letters from a Killer (1998)
Quite good, actually!
This film may be full flaws, but putting them aside, it's quite an enjoyable movie. If nothing else, it serves a strong warning to those among us to write to prisoners! I though Mr Swayze was particularly convincing in his role and this film deserves to be seen by a wider audience. Patrick Swayze fans will enjoy.
The Last House on the Left (1972)
over-hyped!
I saw this film today, considering it has been banned in the UK since 1984, from a copy of the supposed uncut french DVD.
Before I switched it on, I was actually quite scared, considering the write-up it has had. I've read that it is one of the most disturbing and gory films that are around, and I must say that I was very disappointed.
I actually found the film quite enjoyable, as in the "so bad, it's good" category. In the version I saw, and I cannot honestly say if it is uncut or not, there was nothing which warranted the films ban in 1984 by the BBFC (British Board Of Film Classification).
To be honest, I've seen more gore in an episode of the X-Files, but then again I can only go on my source of the film which said was the uncut version.
The plot, although being a supposed cover of Virgin Springs, was Ok. the script was completely laughable and the acting was just as comedic, apart from Weasel, who if you watch carefully, seems to be the only cast member who has partaken in acting lessons.
To cut a long story short, I was expecting to be scared/shocked and just found the whole thing laughable and completely ungory. If this was the true uncut version that I saw, then the folks at the BBFC need to get out more.
