Great Addition To Twin Peaks Story
11 June 2023
Ok first it is a fan generated film, although quite well done considering. Basically centers on the Annie Blackburn character, providing both a prequel to Twin Peaks as we know it, and a bit of a sequel to top it off. Pretty much sticks with the canon mythology of the series and books, but gives an in depth concept to Annie and her importance, which of course sadly was never in the authentic Twin peaks show. Gave it a 9 for good writing and concept, taking away a point only for a technical issue, the night scenes were way too dark, hard to see on the TV. Being a fan film, one would not expect the same quality of actors as in the real Twin Peaks, so did not judge at all on that. I had a nice feeling of satisfaction at the end of this film. Long too, 4 hours or so, but it went by quite nicely. Highly recommend to all fans of Twin Peaks.

The Rookie: Feds (2022–2023)

Beware - Annoying. Ridiculous. NOT like The Rookie, the original show
18 October 2022
Sorry, I really tried to like this, but between the annoying character written into the show, the extreme drawl of her voice (apologies to the actress if that is her real speaking voice), and the ridiculous idea that an Federal agent would be allowed to show up with huge boobs hanging out of her clothes, I just could not take more than 2 or 3 episodes. It is an insult to the original series The Rookie, which is really good, to do such a pathetic spin-off and use the name of The Rookie as part of the title. Yes it is a bit funny, but the annoying aspects outweigh the humor. So again comparing this to the original The Rookie, which most of the time made sense, at least is believable, and good actors too, Then comes this show with literally nothing believable in the characters or the script. Ok. Just had to rant. I feel better now. Especially since I will never watch this show again.

Laughing Out Loud
10 July 2021
Most comedies bore me, and I usually don't like shows with a constant narration. But this series, the narrator makes it more fun and there are so many laugh out loud moments I found the series so much fun. Never saw it when it originally aired, and found it on Netflix this month. On season 4 right now and unlike most shows that get weaker, this one keeps up the surprises and laughs. Highly recommend this one. We all need to laugh and smile more, and this series guarantees you will.

A Tiny Lynch Masterpiece. More Complex Than It Seems
24 January 2020
Don't be fooled by this very short film by David Lynch (yes that David Lynch: Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet ), it is a tiny masterpiece and much more complex than it seems. Without spoilers. I will say on the surface if is funny. Second a throw back to film noir. Filmed totally black & white and also with purposeful blips to make it look like old film, you will also hear some lines from the past. David co stars as a detective, and questioning Jack, a white monkey, both seated at a table on a train. Think Alfred Hitchcock, Agatha Christie. There has been a murder. Jack looks nervous and defensive. And then near the end we see the soft side of Jack, he was in love. I watched this twice, first to enjoy it simply for what it is a very well done short with a good laugh and nostalgia. The second watch I realized it was deeper than it seemed. Not easy to rate something like this as there are not other films to compare it to. Lynch is as usual playing us and he holds all the cards. So for what it is, and what I know Lynch intended it to be, it is a 10/10 for me. I just hope he does a sequel.

Entertaining and Addictive
21 December 2019
Just now in 2019 watching this series, very entertaining. Season 1 was a little slow for me, but starting in season 2 and onward it really picks up. Some episodes are very funny, I love the interaction of the detectives, some real characters. The lead actress is very good and playing a difficult role as a crazy lady chief detective. There are some bloody scenes and dead bodies as expected. Highly recommend this series

Sing Laugh & Cry - Fabulous Fan Documentary & Depeche Mode Music
20 December 2019
One of the best and most moving documentaries of fans and the band they love I have ever seen. The six fans featured were from a group of over 350 lucky fans that Depeche Mode chose to host their facebook page during the 2017-2018 Global Spirit tour, and I was one of that group, so I could feel what these lucky six felt being chosen and getting to tell their story to the world. The film allows these fans to each show why they are so in love with the band, and with a lot of footage from the final Berlin concert of the Global Spirit tour, where they all were there together. Berlin has been the ultimate concert location in this band's history, and the clips will show you why, an amazing crowd of fans from around the world. You will find joy when Dicken shows his cover band DMK with his children, smile at the photographer and his brother who climbed a mountain to do a photograph like a DM video, sympathize with fans that had limited access to music; and showing these fans when they came together at the concert in Berlin, the most coveted tour location for fans in this band's history. A plus for me as I have talked with a few of these six for years at Home-A Depeche Mode Forum. This film is also a really good preview of the tour video of the band which will be released later on. Anton Corbijn has been doing video for Depeche Mode for a long time, and I felt this was his best work ever for them. For those fans of Depeche Mode, this will hit close to home, as it will bring out your own person feelings about their music and why it is so important in your life. For those new to this band, an excellent look into their music and what makes the fans "tick". As part of this world wide group of devotees, I can say DM fans are unique, they walk their own path; and this show in the stories of each fan. A few things to make you laugh, possibly a few moments of tears, and some really good music. Songs featured include Personal Jesus, Precious, Walking in My Shoes, Never Let Me Down Again, Where's the Revolution, Just Can't Get Enough, Cover Me, Enjoy the Silence and David Bowie's Heroes. I can remember what fun I had during my two days of talking to fans around the world in my facebook takeover in 2018 and getting to share my story, so I could feel that these 6 fans have 100 times more joy in their experience of being in the film, telling their story, and attending one of the best concerts ever for this band still going strong after over 30 years. Highly recommend this. And yes I was singing along with the songs too. Can't wait for the tour video later on.

20 Stars for James Spader: Reddington & Dembe Make This Show Addictive 2019
20 September 2019
I found this show last year when I got Netflix, watched one episode and was hooked. Binge watched seasons 1-5 then bought the dvd for season 6, and of this writing I am re-watching a third time looking for more clues before season 7 hits on NBC Oct 4. . Clues you ask? Yep, this is a great mystery series, in addition to drama, and surprisingly some comedy. First about James Spader. He literally owns the screen in this series, and no other actor could have possibly made this so good. It is almost like the character of Reddington was written specifically for Spader, and his dead pan delivery of lines and facial expressions are perfection. I wonder how much they let him ad-lib lines, he is totally in character. Add to this his wonderful side-kick Dembe, played by Hisham Tawfiq; again perfection in casting, another 10 star for his performance. And most of the other characters in this series are nearly as good, although I have tired a little of Elizabeth Keen, but keeping this spoiler free I won't tell you why. And the Solomon guy was terrible, he belonged in a comic book. You can't have it all. Then there are the comedy moments, sometimes a whole episode is funny, but mostly there are moments during each episode, sometimes it is Spader himself and his comments, but also his "interrogator" who shows up with snakes and llamas, hilarious, his cool friend that works at the DMV is a riot, and some times even a murder is funny in the way they present it, which adds to the fun and also buffers the violence, of which there definitely is some. And for a show to have been able after 6 seasons to still have over 20 questions we all want answers to, that is the most amazing. Great writing for sure, but it is all Spader. If I could give him 20 stars for this performance I would. Oh yeah, the music, episodes are highlighted with cool pop and rock music very well done. I rarely give a 10 star review, without Spader this would have been an 8, but with Spader, well he deserves more then 10. And addictive, so addictive. Good drama, mystery, some spies, goofy characters, FBI and CIA and bad politicians (what could they ever be bad?) , a little love here and there, and good light moments with comedy and dark comedy. What else do we need? Watched it, loved it, bought dvd's too. So excited for The Blacklist Season 7. So get out your notepad to write down the clues, often they are subtle.

ABC Cancelled a Good Enjoyable Show
25 May 2019
And again a network cancels a show that was just plain fun to watch. Drama, a little thriller spy type moments, some comedy, good acting, easy to watch, nothing too graphic or distasteful (like a lot of shows they kept), I really enjoyed this program each week. I think it was doomed from the start, with the premier episode airing right after the most boring Superbowl in US history, a lot of viewers had cut off the TV, and even if the football game had been good, who would want to seriously watch a new show after it? And then poor promotion the following weeks. I was really excited about this show when I saw that Lauren Cohan was one of the leads, I first saw her in the Chuck series and she was fabulous. I do recommend watching this wherever it lands next in reruns, it is a very enjoyable watch, jolly good fun.

Delightfully Funny, Addictive and Exciting
17 May 2019
So after seeing the magnificent performance by Inbar Lavi in the Netflix show Lucifer, where she played Eve, a delightfully sexy and manipulative vixen, I noticed she had appeared in the series Imposters, and I binge watched it last week on Netflix. . Wonderful. Good comedy, a little mystery, clever writing and good acting. I could immediately see why they cast her in Lucifer, and she literally carries this series . I found it quite addictive too, and plan on watching again. Seems it won't have any more seasons and that is a shame, it was jolly good fun, very entertaining to watch. Highly recommend this one Really an 8.5 for me.

Strange, Addictive, Mysterious,And Wonderful
17 May 2019
First it is almost impossible to describe this series, I am old and have never seen many shows as unusual as this one. First the category: it is so much more than a drams, think thriller, psychological drama, alternative realities, time travel, maybe reincarnation, mystery, and even a little spiritual, and that is just for starters. So season one, some people describe it as too drawn out, and I will agree it seemed to move a little slow. But patience pays off, as all the episodes in Season 1 (Part1 they call it) is setting the stage for Part (season) 2. Season 2 kicks it into high gear, a new person appears and he is amazing, with multiple plot lines going at once, even more mystery, more drama, and a lot of moments when you might say What The ****. ? I binge watched both seasons twice in a row and loved every minute of it, and plan on watching it again later this year. I sure hope it continues, It was originally presented to Netflix as a five part story, hopefully they will give us all five. I highly recommend you try it, and even if part one seems a little slow, the big payoff is in season 2. Not for casual watching, everything you see is part of a much bigger story, everything may be a clue, good brain exercise. And if anyone asks you later what you saw, you might not be able to explain it. I still can't. But I love it.

Just Could Not Stop Watching Most Intriguing Show Ever
11 May 2019
I never noticed this show when it originally aired on network tv, possibly the promos did not make it sound interesting. But now with it streaming on Netflix, I gave it a go, and Wow, I just could not stop watching. Some nights up til 3 AM, and what caught me, it was not that I loved the show, although obviously I enjoyed watching it, but it was just so intriguing, so many questions, mysteries, drama, dark humor, fascinating characters, I literally could not watch anything else until I finished binge watching the entire series. It is literally addictive. The show pulled me in like I was part of the team, trying to solve all the events, it was amazing. And I plan on binge watching it again later this year. Highly recommend

Lucifer - 6 Brilliant Seasons and Wow What a Ride
11 May 2019
I have loved this show since day one, and an avid fan of all three of the prior season before Fox stupidly cancelled it, which actually was a gift. I was one of the fans that worked in the twitter campaign to help save the show, working along with the producers, writers, cast, crew and fans from around the world, with the hashtag #SaveLucifer making history, as Netflix was more than eager to give this show a fabulous new home. So now this series is even better, the new Season 4 just released May 8 2019 is so much more, despite only 10 episodes, they are packed with action, drama,it is bolder, yet the humor in the show is still there, it is definitely the best season yet. For new viewers, do watch the first 3 seasons before the new one, as the characters history is important to this story. I am just finishing doing a binge watch for the third time and it just never gets old. Treasure of a show, great actors, good tight writing, great set designs, cool music throughout, and even a little nudity. What more can you want. Netflix, we need a season 5,6,7 and on.

2019 Update: After yet another fan campaign and good reviews for season 4 on Netflix, we got season 5, although it will be the last and we really wanted 6 seasons, But then Netflix listened, and gave the show twice the episodes for season 5, another win. Can't wait, the writers keep tweeting us the episode titles and have promised the best season yet.

Update for Season 5.1 released Aug 21: AWESOME. One of the best seasons yet. We get some answers, some closure on some things (keeping this spoiler free for you), many of our favorite characters go through unexpected changes, and a new bad guys appears in a familiar face. Best acting ever from this amazing cast. Lots of funny moments too. The second half of season 5 is almost finished and will be on Netflix later, and we are also getting a Season 6 in the future. Just an amazing show, brought back to life by amazing fans, writers, producers, actors and thanks to Netflix.

Update for final season 6. September 10 2021 Just finished watching. These writers amaze me. They gave the fans so many things they knew we wanted. Maybe not in the way we expected, but something for everyone. Lots of action, lots of laughter and definitely some tears. Closure. Tied up loose ends . Some characters reappear. Just an amazing group of writers and producers and a fabulous cast. Good writers know when to stop. They told their story, the way they wanted to, working with the desires of the fans, and gave it the ending they wanted. Sure I would have watched it for dozens of more seasons, and still would have loved it, but actors and writers have to move on. The six season ( really 7 when you count the double number of episodes in season 5). , yeah, six was a good number. You will love this final seaon. There will be music. Dancing. Laughter. Tears. Surprises. A hell of a ride.
