Tengen toppa gurren lagann: Abayo, dachi kô (2007)
Unforgettable
I've never watched an anime and been so utterly heartbroken, quivering and crying well after the episode ended. This episode is one of the best pieces of media because it elevates this show and mech anime in general past where I ever thought it could reach. Just know that you will not leave this episode the same as when you go into it. If you thought this show was just a fanservice-filled, nuts to butts action anime, then you are in for a gutpunch.
Gainax have a knack for making mech anime much more deep as they go along, and this episode reminds me much of the halfway episode of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Both of these stories pick up and take you for the wildest rides you will see in anime at a certain point.
The Boys: The Instant White-Hot Wild (2022)
Conflicted.
There are some great moments in this finale and overall this is the boys season of The Boys in my opinion. However, it didn't have the sense of finality to it that I was hoping. The big team up fight just didn't hit and nothing really big felt like it happened. Of course, now Ryan is on homelander's side and it seems Solider boy is back in a lab. But, before this season soldier boy was in a lab anyway. So now all that's changed it Starlight is a part of The Boys and homelander has Ryan. It just feels...off. I hope Season 4 is the best the show has to offer.
The Boys: Here Comes a Candle to Light You to Bed (2022)
This is the best episode of the series
I take it back. I thought Herogasm was the best episode. However, this episode delivered some of the most heartfelt moments and had some of the best character development this show has to offer. Butcher's backstory was especially touching. Pretty much every plot thread had more development than I thought. THE ENDING WAS ALSO A SHOCKER. The Boys is solidifying itself as one of the greatest shows of all time.
The Boys: Herogasm (2022)
NEVER BEFORE IN MY LIFE HAVE I SEEN TV LIKE THIS
This is probably the most unhinged and explicit this show has ever gotten. I knew that the message before the show meant it was going to be something else, but no one will be ready for this episode. The story is rocketing forward at full speed even with raunchy scenes and comedy in full force. So many plot threads are tied up, so many characters have to make tough decision, and so many people have intercourse. Herogasm is an episode that defies what could have ever been shown on cable tv and uses this to make a truly unique episode. Not to mention this is probably the best episode of the entire series. There were so many WTF moments in this episode it was hard to keep count. Don't let the sex in this episode fool you...the writing, the action, and the story is still just as good and even better than it has been. This show isn't for the faint of heart but it is so worth it. Best episode of the show so far 10/10.
Jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy: Act II: Purpose (2022)
Jeen-yuhs Part 2: Kanye finally gets his big break
What an eye-opening episode. I love how much time they dwell on his most defining moments. The moments with Pharell. The moments with Ludacris. The moments with Puff. The moments with his Mom. The moments when he's at the doctor after the accident. You start to really understand Kanye's mindset after watching this. And, oh boy, it seems like the next episode is going to go over the rest of Kanye's career and all the wild turns it has taken. But these first two episodes feel very grounded, raw, and respectful of Kanye as a talent. And yet nothing is hidden from the viewer. What a documentary.
Go! La Fiesta Inolvidable (2019)
Not good
With a highly contrived story with un likable characters and interactions that make so sense, this movie comes out to really have nothing of value beyond the quality at which is was shot.
Owarimonogatari (2015)
One of the greatest collections of monogatari arcs
I have seen most of monogatari excluding zoku owarimonogatari. Even though the series is already known for its clever writing, unique dynamic style, and dialogue heavy sequences, zoku owarimonogatari brings a new character named Sodachi and a lot of emotional weight to the story. While we see Araragi develop more with the feud between Ougi and Hanewaka, Sodachi goes from a misunderstood in likable character to a relatable and saddening staple of Zoku Owarimonogatari. Even after her arc is over, her inclusion helped flesh out the characters of Araragi, Ougi, and Hanekawa even more. Especially spending more time with Ougi towards the latter half, the Ougi arcs hint at a more sinister plot that Ougi may have that the earlier pieces of monogatari merely hinted at. In any case, Owarimonogatari brings a lot of what you would expect from monogatari thus far with some improved animation and great new developments in the story. I feel that most of monogatari gets a 10/10 because of how masterful the series' scenes, animation style, and writing are, but Owarimonogatari definitely stands out as one of the best. If you haven't seen what's before Owarimonogatari and like it's style, then I would reccomend going through the series starting with Bakemonogatari and going through the series based on Nisio Isin order which you can find online.
Mr. Robot: eps1.7_wh1ter0se.m4v (2015)
Stellar cinematography
While providing key and jaw-dropping plotpoints, this episode clearly displays Elliot's inner struggle and directly addresses the watcher (the imaginary person Elliot created inside his head) to show his instability. This episode is definitely the best of the first season and leaves the watcher with the most impact out of any other.
