Just Married (2003)
Great chemistry leads to a fine romantic comedy
There's an old saying that goes something like this..."be who you are." Well, this film is what it is. A fine romantic comedy with spirited performances and handful of heart.
Sure there was a ton of ridiculous physical comedy with Kutcher and Murphy being knocked all over the world, but putting that stuff aside, I found this film to be refreshing. From Kutcher's right on portrayal of your typical American 20-something who loves sports and women better, to Murphy's giddy and life-loving character, this film was like a cool ocean breeze.
It's certainly no epic like many of the films coming out right now, it doesn't even pretend to be something great, but you have to appreciate the performances these two fine young actors put out there. I can't help but appreciate a film that wants to make you feel good, remind you what love is, and doesn't do those things with a sarcastic undertone. This film was silly, but respected it's characters with meaningful dialogue and a feesable storyline.
There are many laughs in the film. From the classic pre-marriage scene when Kutcher tells his best man, "your the worst best man ever," to Murphy's discovery of the curious red bra in their honeymoon suite, this film will not leave you void of chuckles.
A nice little film like this could possibly make your day.
The Private Public (2001)
This movie proves how fantastic film can be!
I'm no writer, but all I can say is that this film rekindled my spirit for film. It just goes to show you that there all still films being made out there that have a solid message, are well done, and are unique. The Private Public is the most eloquently written film I've seen in my 20 years. The world needs to see The Private Public, to bring hope back to the industry.
