A Simple Favor (2018)
Delicious black comedy
I found this quite entertaining. Blake Lively is amazing, as usual. Sexy, funny and suspenseful at all the right points.
Vivarium (2019)
This is not my beautiful house
The brilliance of this disturbing Black Mirror-style horror is that it contains shades of real-life domestic challenges. A relentless and bleak experience, it's Groundhog Day on steroids - from the monstrous alien child who screeches non-stop when he wants cornflakes - to the pessimistic take on suburban life.
Full of uncomfortable emotion, that chills the mind, it's entertaining and mysterious but I'm still not sure how I feel about it.
The Crown (2016)
Compulsively watchable
I love it, this series is what you call a piece of art. Over all amazing work by cast and crew. I want to see more!
I Origins (2014)
A beautiful work of ART
If you're in the mood for something different, this remarkable movie will grab hold of your soul. The acting is superb. The plot is fascinating, it left me completely speechless.
Is Anybody There? (2008)
Great indie
I was hooked right from the start. This is touching on so many levels. Funny and sad too. Edward is a boy who is fascinated with the after life. He is growing up in an old people's home and befriends an ex-magician called Clarence who is dealing with regrets. I think this is one of Michael Cain's greatest performances to date.
The Boys (2019)
Great
Not a huge fan of super hero stuff but this is a refreshing take on the subject.
The Boys succeeds because it gives a well fleshed-out set of motivations for each character. Themes of abuse of power and very apt for the times. One of the best shows this year. I wish we had more like this. Much deeper than expected
Elon Musk: The Real Life Iron Man (2018)
Just great!
Despite opinions to the contrary, Elon Musk is not a robot, but he has done things that very few living people can claim.
This well-done documentary explores his powerful visions and spends time on important issues. There are particularly interesting sections on the potential of getting to Mars and the benefits of autonomous vehicles, as well as the developments in artificial intelligence, which are seen as terrifying, even by some involved in creating them.
