Tianqi: Jing zhe bian (2021)
Lowbugdet from China
In Medieval times, a zombie plague mist out of space is ravaging a small Chinese town and two officers have to fight the infected to save their family and the entire town.
The movie's CGI is kind of cheap, the story has some strange and questionable moments, some characters belong more to a fantasy genre movie, while some twists are just "adapted" from the Korean "Train to Busan" movie, but overall the movie is not too bad, it has a lot of action and some drama.
If you are a big zombie movie fan - you should watch "Apocalypse" to see a new kind of setting for this genre of movies, but if not - just avoid it.
R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned (2022)
Boring lesson on political correctness
Announced as sequel, the R. I. P. D. 2: Rise of the Damned movie has almost nothing in common with the first part made in 2013 and It is just a boring lesson on political correctness in a Wild West entourage.
The plot is boring, and last but not least - the "twist" is very "surprising", no no no, we didn't new (from the moment we saw her) who Joanne is and why she has whose fire flashbacks. What we really didn't knew about her was the fact that she has a MA in Gender Studies and being in the nineteen century she "educates" the main character with some twenty first century political correctness.
Socialistický Zombi Mord (2014)
Lowbudget gem from Slovakia
Didn't had much expectations from this movie, it looks cheap, low budget, and somehow spoils the impression from the beginning. It tries to look historically socialist, but that doesn't seem to legit in some parts. Almost a fail, but....
Soon, when the outbreak starts, the movie becomes awesome. Every minute of the film is pure action, fighting, shooting, lots of gore, dynamic scenes, heroes are constantly moving between locations and last but not least - there is LOGIC in their actions more than in most of Hollywood movies with budgets 1000 times bigger than "Socialistický Zombi Mord" had.
The movie's team did a really great job having so little.
Gangnam Zombie (2023)
Average zombie movie
Gangnam Zombie is not a masterpiece of zombie movies, it doesn't bring anything new to the genre, doesn't surprise you with anything, it is just average. On the bright side - it was made in Korea and lacks many the Hollywood cliches.
If you are a big fan of zombie movies - just watch it once and forget about it.
If you are not a big fan of zombies - just don't watch it, it's not for you, don't waste your time on watching it and even more - don't waste your time on spamming imdb with similar messages saying this movie is the worst movie ever. It is just not true, there are far more worse movies in the genre that this.
The Human Race (2013)
Decent low budget survival horror
The story is classic for the "Game of death" genre - abducted strangers need to survive and choose to fight together or against each other.
The Human Race is not the best movie in this genre, nor it's the worse, so if you like this type of movies - watch it, you'll enjoy the gore, a little bit of drama and the unusual ending.
Yummy (2019)
Balkan zombie hardbass
Yummy is not very funny for a comedy and not so scary for a horror, but yet it is still an enjoyable zombie movie as it has a decent story, some nudity, gore and a hilarious Balkan atmosphere (even if mostly stereotypical, as seen by a Belgian director).
Overall, Yummy is average, but if there was a top of most epic moments in zombie movies, the hardbass scene would definitively be in that top, so if you are a zombie fan you must see this film.
Navy Seals vs. Zombies (2015)
Average zombie movie
Navy Seals vs. Zombies is an average zombie film which doesn't bring anything new to the genre, its not full of CGI effects or superstars, but is overall enjoyable as it has a decent story, is filled with action and Stephanie Honoré is just awesome here.
If you are a Zmovie fan - give it a try without big expectations. If not - avoid it, or you will end up here giving low ratings and complaining on how a low budget zombie movie looks like a low budget zombie movie.
El hoyo (2019)
Contradictory impressions
"The Platform" is a movie which lives up contradictory impressions.
On one hand you have an interesting story and fresh concept, on the other hand you have a good dose of socialist propaganda what is the main idea of the film and the authors don't even care about smaller and unimportant things like plot holes or unanswered questions.
The Dead Inside (2013)
A good low-budget zombie movie
"The Dead Inside" has a lot of Romero's influence, but without old man's criticism of the modern society. Is it a good thing or a bad thing? It's up to you to decide. It's just a simple story of simple people surviving the apocalypse, making hard decisions which are not always good ones. There is not so much drama in it, but it's interesting to watch.
This movie isn't a masterpiece, but it obviously doesn't deserve a rating below 4.
Ever Since the World Ended (2001)
77 minutes of boredom.
What I expected from the description? Stories of people surviving in a post-apocalyptical world.
What I got was a bunch of hippies doing nothing to survive, just telling hippie stories and living their hippie lives like nothing happened.
Absolutely waste of time.
Thaw of the Dead (2017)
Low budget gem
Can't expect much from a low-budget zombie movie, but this was a good surprise with beautiful views and a nice post-apocalyptical atmosphere. The plot is decent, and even it has some flaws, it is still enjoyable.
If you are a zombie-fan you should give it a try, but if you are looking for gore or CGI - avoid it.
Snowpiercer (2013)
In USSR "Snowpiercer" would get a "Lenin prize"
I love this type of movies, but when I was watching "Snowpiercer" I felt something very familiar - the taste of old propaganda films, cartoons and books made in USSR. It were just the same ideas and actions. Add to this poor acting, plot holes, stupid decisions and false personages you don't believe in (especially Mason, Tilda Swinton's character).
#Saraitda (2020)
This is how a zombie movie should be
A nice movie which is easy to watch, especially due to the fact that it's not made in Hollywoood and lacks most of its clichees and stereotypes: a movie without sex, politics, evil corporations/army, quota diversity and pseudophilosophy, just people trying to survive.
Busanhaeng 2: Bando (2020)
Not as awesome as first movie, but still very good.
"Train to Busan" is one of the best zombie movies ever made, so the expectations were pretty high for the sequel, and even if "Peninsula" is not as good as it, it's still a nice film which is much better than most of what Hollywood has made in the recent years in this genre.
Ultrafast zombies, "Mad Max" style road fights, a good drama - you won't get bored during it, even if some action look not to logic and doesn't make sense.
A must see for any zombie-fan.
Patient Zero (2018)
Not as bad as bad as described here, not as good as could be.
I've saw a lot of 4-stars movies and this one for sure doesn't deserve such a rating.
Even though its plot is not very brilliant - just another spin-off of Romero's original "Day of of Dead" in which (like in almost every z-movie) the army that can't even defend itself, but the idea of the intelligent zombies made me enjoy this film.
If you are a zombie fan you should watch this.
Pontypool (2008)
It's not a movie, it's a book.
In the old days, people didn't had movies, they were reading books and imagine things they were reading. A good book gave your imagination a lot of fuel.
Pontypool is just like a book, audiobook. It shows very little, but lets you imagine. The story is not brilliant, i'd say 6,5/10, but the movie gave me a strange and unordinary experience. Most of modern horrors scary you with screamers and loud noises. Pontypool made me feel afraid several time just talking.
People are giving it 1/10 just because they are not used to imagine.
Little Monsters (2019)
Another zom-com with a rom-com scenario.
Same rom-com scenario as usual: a loser guy living his loser live until he meets his love and try to impress her with some loser tricks.
Zombies? Just entourage.
Only several funny moments and the singing zombies made me give it 3 stars.
Ad Astra (2019)
Watch the first 3 minutes and close it.
Just another boring commercial movie trying to sell anticommercial stuff hidden in pseudophilosophy and small details.
The opening scene was great, 2 stars for it, after there is nothing interesting to see in this film. Moon pirates and cosmic monkeys have no sense, no logic, didn't add anything and had no reason to be there.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Disney ruining SW.
This movie is very bad and has lots of plot holes and inconsistencies. The only interesting thing was the evolution of Rey-Kylo relation, besides that everything else just looked like a copy from the original saga.
Busanhaeng (2016)
One of the best zombie movies ever.
This movie is awesome in many parts: the fastmoving zombie hordes, nice characters and actors, good drama and most important: it is not spoiled by hollywood clichees which ruin 80% of the zombie movies.
A must-see for any zombie fan.
The Dead Don't Die (2019)
Slow and boring
Any zombie movie gets 5 stars from me just for being a zombie movie. +1 for a nice cast of actors, but later all this stars are lost due to:
- the movie is very slow and boring, nothing happens for almost 1 hour (-2)
- it's leftist biased (again the evil fracking corporations, if you see someone in a red MAGA style hat, you can be sure he will be an evil guy, etc) (-1)
- for heroes that appear and die without any reason and sense (-1)
- for not bringing anything usefull to the zombie movies genre: no survival, no character or social drama (-1).
If you're not a Z-movie hardcore fan, you probably shouldn't bother watching this film.
