Hostage (2005)
good action film
Bruce Willis is in fine form in this fun action film from 2006. It is thrilling and suspenseful. Acting is fine throughout as are writing and directing. Story will keep you on the edge of your seat. Not the type of film to take Intvw awards but do what? It is not pretentious and knows what it is. This is thrilling action at its finest.
Reservoir Dogs (1992)
best of the nineties
Plenty of great ones out there for this decade. Plenty from director Quentin Tarantino as well as relented cast and crew. Plenty great one if the same genre. But this one takes first prize for me. It is a great mix of humor, action, thriller, and dramatic tension. Great story here, great acting. Very well done. Leaps and bounds above most of the others I have seen. Everything is done to perfection.
Super Size Me (2004)
it made me hungry
Made the mistake of watching this one on an empty stomach. As such the point was lost on me. Seeing a slob stuffing his face with fast food three times a day made my mouth water. Sure it had an impact on society and actual intention was to discourage fast food consumption and highlight dangers of the industry. But I couldn't help but go right out and get me a big mack afterward.
Cool Hand Luke (1967)
truly great film
Not only is Cool Hand Luke the greatest of Paul Newman's films but it is arguably one of the greatest of all time. Truly one of the best roles and characters. No one could have done a better job than Newman himself. It is a classic and the ending is brilliant. This film will be enjoyed for generations to come.
Bound for Glory (1976)
worthy tribute to a great man
Fictionalization account of Woody Guthrie's early years as s traveling folk singer and vagabond, based on the book written by the man himself. Sometimes fiction is more telling than truth. It brings out the honesty I'm the situation, the true feeling of the time, better than could be done with a straight telling if the facts themselves. Good watch for fans and newcomers alike. Wonderful performance by David Carradine in the role and legendary intro shot with Steadicam.
Moneyball (2011)
good biopic
Not a fan of the biographical film usually. Find them too long and boring at times. This one was indeed over the 2-hour mark but didn't feel it. Kept my attention and had me entertained for the duration. Good acting by all and excellent production values. Much more than just a baseball film.
