Grease (1978)
Adults posing as teenagers! 🙄
Definitely not a film for men!! And how did the producers think that 30 year old adults could pass off as teenagers, I'll never know. 🙄 If you like a film totally based on dancing and singing, this is a film for you. But as a straight male, I definitely had no interest in watching this film. It reminds me of a musical version of a James Dean film, based around the same time. The name of the film I cannot remember. This is a film that has bad acting, poor singing and crappy dancing. I don't know how it was a hit film at the time. Maybe it was the storyline that got it through. Even John Travolta's sister got a part in it, as one of the diner waitresses.
Inception (2010)
Excellent film!!!
This movie will keep you glued to your seat from start to finish. Has amazing special effects, the excellent music score, brilliant actors and then the ending makes you think. I have watched this film numerous times that it is so good! This movie should have won more Oscars at the time. A true master piece!! And it has one of the best movie quotes also which is... "What is the most resilient parasite?... It's an idea!". This quote made me think of how true it is and where do people come up with these. Christopher Nolan made an excellent film here and he should be given credit for that! This is definitely one film you should watch!!
Vladivostok (2021)
Very entertaining film!
This film appeared on my YouTube screen for some reason. I watch Russian films every now and then, even though I don't speak Russian. But if the film has English subtitles, I'll have a look at it and see how it goes. The picture quality was excellent, the sound quality was great, it was modern, and there were proper subtitles for the film. I definitely enjoyed this film and found it to be very entertaining. It is sort of a love story combined with tragic circumstances. The main actor flees the army because he thinks he killed an officer by accident there, and now he is on the run. The sting in the tail was excellent also! 👍😉
Warriors (1999)
Excellent mini-TV series!!
I stumbled upon this by accident really, but when I started to watch it, I felt that I had to watch it from start to finish. It is an excellent TV series depicting how the British army's hands were tied during the Bosnian conflict. It shows the genocide, executions, inhumanity inflicted by both sides in this war. The actors played their parts very well! As an ex-soldier, I also appreciate how it portrays the physiological trauma and PTSD suffered by both officers and enlisted men of the British army when they return home from Bosnia. It doesn't depict the usual "Stiff upper lip" mentality shown in previous British war films. It shows that soldiers are human also. As a man who doesn't get upset too easily, I cried during some scenes. It really is a thought-provoking and sad TV series. But I really enjoyed watching it! 👍😊
The Responder (2022)
Very interesting to watch!
I only looked at this because the wife was watching it. But as I watched each episode, I was gripped to see what happens next. I thoroughly enjoyed this series, and I hope they will make a 2nd season. All the actors performed excellent and the story was excellent! 👍😊
Sicario (2015)
Very enjoyable film!
I loved this film!! The actors were brilliant. The special effects were excellent. The way that real-life in Mexico is portrayed is unbelievable. The soundtrack is brilliant. I would watch this over and over. It is one of the best films ever made! 👍
Girl Next (2021)
Really awful!!!
Didn't recognise any of the actors in this, and it seems to be a low budget film. If you are into the 70s films of blood and gore, this film would suit you. But if you want to be entertained, choose another film.
The Whistleblower (2010)
A deeply harrowing movie about human trafficking!
I watched this and I believed that the story was well told. It is a deeply harrowing movie about both sex trafficking and human trafficking in a post war state of Bosnia. Rachel Weiszz portrayed the character as the whistleblower excellently. It was difficult to believe that police officers working in Bosnia for the UN were involved, and officers working for the US Department of Defense... and no one was prosecuted for it!!! And to see that it was brushed underneath the carpet by the UN makes it even more difficult to understand.
World on Fire (2019)
Brilliant TV show!!!
In my opinion, this is a brilliant TV show!!! It is a story about love and survival during World War Two. I don't care if it is inaccurate, or if this or that happened in real life... It is a TV show for God's sake!!! It's supposed to tell a story. The actors are brilliant and they do a good job of it. I recommend that you watch it, and the soundtrack is excellent! I look forward to Season 2, whenever that will be. 👍
Greyhound (2020)
Brilliant WW2 film!!
This has to be the best WW2 naval film that I have ever watched! I thought the acting by Tom Hanks and Stephen Graham was excellent. I loved the special effects during the confrontations between the subs and the destroyers. Any film with Tom Hanks in it is usually a great film to watch, and I enjoyed this film thoroughly. I am a WW2 fanatic, so this is why I wanted to see this film. Whether it is accurate or not, I don't care... it's just a film, not a history book, or a film on how to perform naval operations.
Well done, Tom Hanks!!!... Excellent film!! 👍😁😁
Buried (2010)
A film that was never thought out before it was made!! 🙈
So many things wrong with this film. He is buried in a box underneath the ground, with his oxygen running out the longer he is in there. He has a phone with him that has excellent coverage (underneath the ground), eventhough he gets reminders that his battery is getting lower and lower he still makes loads and loads of stupid phone calls through out the film when his battery is nearly dead. He is advised by his rescuer on the phone to turn off the vibrate on his phone to slow down the battery life decreasing, but he still leaves it on vibrate... for some stupid reason. He also uses a zippo lighter to see around his coffin. FIRE BURNS UP OXYGEN!!!... FFS! When the snake enters the box, he sets a fire inside the box to keep the snake away. FIRE BURNS UP OXYGEN!!!... FFS! 🙄 He continues to exert pressure on himself through out the whole film. PHYSICAL EXERTION BURNS UP OXYGEN QUICKER!!!... FFS! 🙄 The sand entering his box seems to take forever to fill his coffin. Even when his battery is dead he can still take and make phone calls. When his employer rings him and records their conversation to indemnify the organisation, he agrees with everything the interviewer says... FFS!!! 🙄 And his oxygen level never runs out. So many things wrong with this film, that wouldn't happen in real life!! A total failure of a film.
