Chozen (2014)
unPC funny intelligent and very creative work of art. DESERVES a wider audience
A butch gay rapper is released from jail after being framed and sets out for revenge, and hopes to make it big on the way
i love it. i've watched it all the way through at least three times already, it's highly entertaining and very rewarding.
each episode has at least two pieces of original music with an accompanying video... something like an animated lonely island ... something like but not really.
The Bet (2016)
pretty funny lots of good lines
plays along the lines of something you might see vince vaughn do.
like dodgeball, but not as wacky, still plenty of fun.
enjoyable LOL moments. not bad at all. crude and offensive, sure.
but kept my attention which is more than i can say for most bigger budget movies these days.
and moved along at a good pace. not too long, unlike this review which IMDb is making me stretch out like butter spread to thin on a piece of toast.
i will watch it again. with a girlfriend. i know she will laugh her ass off at some of the insults and so forth.
thumbs up!
The Search for Freedom (2015)
breathtaking doco with some profound insights
needs more love. must have been expensive as hell to produce. i particularly liked the "behind the scenes" shots, showing how they managed to get such amazing footage of the extreme feats. cameramen dangling on wires being pulled through a forest, or over a waterfall; or helicopters passing over ravines and zooming far out until the subject is a dot on a mountainside. most of those shots, were this a Hollywood production, would have been created on a computer.
but intimately this is about the people involved. what drives them to take such risks for seemingly no reward. the answers may surprise. the rock-climber mentoring youths who would otherwise be shooting gang- members in drive-bys was particularly touching. "you get to the summit, there is no summit. it's just flat. and you realize, it's all about the process" this applies to so much in life.
watch this inspiring and awe-inspiring documentary
