The Last Son (2021)
Why the low rating?
I watched this immediately after watching Brimstone. A movie which currently has a 7 rating while this one has a 4.8. I rated this one higher. Both films have pretty good casts. They both take place in "acts." They both have close to the same runtime. Both of them have a slow pace. That being said the story/action/violence/acting I felt was better in this film. It's a pretty solid western with a plot I could get behind. I was also honestly impressed with MGK's performance. Does the disbelief get a little ridiculous at times? Yes. Can you see the ending coming a mile away? Absolutely. I still enjoyed it. Especially compared to most of the modern westerns I've seen recently.
The Retaliators (2021)
I want to rate this higher.
Honestly. I do. The beginning started out fantastic for a lower budget horror movie. I was intrigued. It captured me like a good zombie film would have. Although it's not a zombie film. Then it plodded on forever. I lost interest. I made food. Took the dogs out. One dog decides to not potty and just lingers around the yard sniffing at everything it can sniff. Waited a little bit longer and then the last 1/4 of the movie comes back to the first 1/8 of the movie and I was interested again. Also, this cast is ridiculously stupid. So many "I know that guy" it's not even funny. FFDP and Tommy Lee??
Cosmic Sin (2021)
It's really not that bad
Y'all. I get the reviews. I do.
My dad was a B-F movie lover and he would have absolutely adored this.
With a budget like this. Spent mainly on cast and effects. I thought they kind of outdid themselves.
Are there plot gaps? Yes. Continuity errors? Yes. Goofs? Yes.
I actually want to give a thumbs up to the costume department for working with what they had. "This is supposed to be the future?" Well working with what they had...yes.
I would rate this a B flick. So if you are interested in a B sci-fi movie go for it. By all means you'll understand the hate, but you should also understand why not to hate it.
