800 Words (2015)
Really good story writing and story telling
Of course, like any show, there are flaws if one cares enough to nitpick. But I rated it a 10 because the story pulled me in enough for me to care about these people. I would even think about them throughout the day now and again. Now that is a good show to be able to make me do that.
Grantchester (2014)
Mixed messages
As much as I love this series and these characters, I alway have lingering feelings of mixed messages. I appreciate the questions put forth regarding Christian doctrine, and the challenges to examine blindly held beliefs by many church doctrines.
It is disturbing to me that I often walk away from an episode feeling that I could have been a preacher all those years I spent drinking and being drunk; smoking incessantly, and giving vent to sexual urges whenever I wanted.
That's how I know that this is an excellent series: I am forced to think and to exam my own prejudices.
People Puzzler (2021)
Good comedy relief
I like the relaxing comic atmosphere of oddball contestants and Leah's bizarre mocking looks for incredibly lame answers. For me the only irritating part of the show is that the announcer still can't say Remini.
Tug of Words (2021)
Worse host ever
Show has great concept but inept host. Too much time spent talking to contestants. A game show that subtracts time based on speed of host's reading needs someone with reading skills. Ahmad is lacking in this area.
Live by Night (2016)
Nothing to see here
Waste of time. Ben Affleck as a gangster? Like Biden playing an honest man: just doesn't work.
Evil (2019)
Intriguing and entertaining
I usually am not a fan of this genre but I was pulled in after the first episode. My only complaint is that I think all the scenes with the children could have been given more thought. Having 4 girls screaming, shouting, and talking over one another every time they are in the same room is pure agony, not entertainment.
America Says (2018)
Too chatty
I originally gave this show 8, but I lowered it due to the excessive interaction with the contestants. This is a game show, not a talk show. At least edit the excessive comments from these chatty people before you air the show. Let the team captain introduce each member and then give short explanation of what binds them together. End of social time with contestants 😁
Manchester by the Sea (2016)
Could be shorter
As with most movies involving Ben or Casey Afleck, and even Matt Damon for that matter, the story could be shortened by at least 20 minutes and still tell the story simply by eliminating all the "F" bombs.
Midsomer Murders: The Straw Woman (2004)
John Hopkins irritates as usual
Usually a pleasant diversion MIDSOMMER MURDERS certainly shot itself in the foot by creating the character of Detective Daniel Scott. Not only is the character unlikable but the acting by John Hopkins is just barely average and irritating.
Dexter (2006)
Tedious
Although fascinating at first, this premise gets old after the 2nd season. Like "The Fugitive ", the back story hangs there waiting to be resolved with the actions of Dexter tacitly predictable.
The worst part of this series is the character of Dexter's sister, Deborah, a one dimensional "F" bomb character who has two emotions: anger and more anger. She is so un-likable, that after the 3rd season I gave up on the show to keep my ears from bleeding, and I just read the synopsis of the remaining seasons to see how the series ended. Glad I didn't keep watching!
The Sinner (2017)
Unnecessarily drawn out
There is not one likable character in this entire season. I don't know anything about the other two seasons, but this borders on the tedious. Bill Pullman's character was so annoying to the point that I wished him nothing but ill will.
The final 15 minutes of this season was so moronic that it nearly motivated me to suicide.
