LOVE IT
29 January 2021
I've always usually been more of a fan of western animation, but one of my friends suggested I watch this anime because he thought I would like it. AND BOY WAS HE RIGHT. I love the premise, the story, the main characters, the atmosphere, the twists. This was a wild ride from beginning to end. I'll be sure to catch up with Season 2 when it gets dubbed.

Animaniacs (2020–2023)

An okay reimagining of the Warners
5 January 2021
I finally caught up on all 13 episodes of this reboot and it's.... alright. The show starts out kind of weak but it progressively gets better. Warners and PATB are just really fun characters to watch. It can also be pretty funny at times and the songs are pretty decent. I don't mind the political stuff, I think people are just overreacting especially when the original had political jokes in it and made fun of famous figures. Animation is also really good. Overall I recommend it.

All of SpongeBob is good
13 October 2020
I don't care what anyone says, I love all eras of SpongeBob and they've all helped me get through tough times and have had a tremendous impact in all my 16 years of life.

Seasons 1-5 are amazing, top tier cartoon material. The characters and the strange scenarios they're put in never fails to put a smile on my face. If you're an animation fan, these are must-sees.

Seasons 6-8 are considered to be the "Dark Age" of the show, but I still enjoy them. Even if they have some forgettable and downright bad episodes, I still found the characters charming and funny.

Seasons 9-12 brought back everything I loved about Seasons 1-5, but made it better somehow. Yes, I love the modern era more than the pre-movie/Seasons 4-5 era. And there's alot of reasons but the most noticeable of them is the animation style. I can see why people wouldn't like it but I CANNOT get enough of it. It's so wacky and surreal and fluid and it's eye candy to look at. Not only is the animation amazing, the stories are really cool and experimental. (Krabby Patty Creature Feature, Handemonium, Shell Games, etc). There are also a ton of episodes where characters who have barely interacted get an entire episode based on them. Squidward/Pearl, Sandy/Mr. Krabs, Sandy/Karen/Mrs. Puff, Plankton/Pearl. It's incredibly apparent that the crew still REALLY cares about this property, especially 20 years later. Most shows at this point would just give up but SpongeBob PERSISTS.

I still love this show, it's shaped by childhood, teenhood, and I'm sure it will shape my adulthood. Keep being awesome, SpongeBob.

Helluva Boss (2019– )

Really funny and well-animated
12 October 2020
On the heels of Hazbin Hotel comes Helluva Boss, a spinoff set in the same universe but focusing on entirely different characters with an entirely different premise.

Unlike Hazbin, this is set to be alot more episodic with an "adventure of the week" type thing and I'm honestly okay with that. The characters, once again, are good enough to sustain that.

Alot of the issues with the Hazbin pilot are improved on here. The humor is alot more focused and funny, I actually laughed out loud the first time watching which I did not do with Hazbin. The animation's alot more consistent and has a ton of great facial expressions.

There's set to be a new episode coming out this month and more new episodes on the horizon and I'm definitely excited to FINALLY see more of this goofy hellscape.

Hazbin Hotel (2019– )

Amazing but somewhat flawed
12 October 2020
I loved this pilot and I'm so glad it got picked up by A24. It's absolutely flooring and inspiring how a passion project like this is as successful as it is, it sets such an amazing precedent for indie creation.

I love almost everything about it: the animation, the music, the character designs (or at least most of them), the premise, the characters (ESPECIALLY Alastor).

However, I do recognize there are some flaws. Some character designs have way too much going on in terms of details and I assume if they're going to turn this into a full series, they're gonna need to cut down on that. Plus, the animation, while amazing, isn't really consistent. You can tell when scenes switch artists sometimes, thankfully future projects from this studio like Helluva Boss and Bad Luck Jack fixed that tremendously. Plus, the humor can be kind of iffy and not funny at times, it's for some people but not really for me.

However, I can forgive most of those flaws, because it's clear that alot of passion and hard work was put into this. Congratulations to everyone involved for maing this what it is, I'm so glad to be apart of this fandom and I can't wait to see what's in store for this universe!

Bad Luck Jack (2020)

Cute and charming
12 October 2020
I wasn't really a fan of Vivzie and her work until I saw the Hazbin Hotel pilot, so I don't really know much about the Zoophobia universe. But I have to say, this did a decent job of conveying it to me. I don't know if this is an "adaptation" per say cause I heard alot of things are different, but what we got here was adequate.

Of course it doesn't hold the same amazing status as Hazbin or even Helluva Boss, and I can see some people not liking it for being alot more family friendly and cheesy, but if I had one word to describe it it would be charming.

This particular short follows Jack, a puppy who is cursed with bad luck for all eternity, as his friends try to save him from being hurt. The songs are really good, my favorite is probably "The Curse". There are other characters like Zill, who has kind of a weird character design but I overall still like it, who is Jack's best friend and helps him out throughout a majority of the episode. Kayla is Zill's girlfriend, Spam who loves to sing, and Vanexa who's kind of like Raven from Teen Titans.

As with any Vivziepop production, the animation and backgrounds are top-notch. If you enjoy things like High School Musical or kids shows in general, give this one a look.
