Shao Lin da peng da shi (1980)
More fun than the original
This might be controversial but although I think the original is a good movie this one simply was more entertaining in every way it had better pacing, better characters more inventive action (never seen construction Fu vs chair Fu before) and it had a lot humor Wich depending on what you want out of Kung Fu movies either enhances the experience or decreases it, all around great fun.
Renaissance Man (1994)
Ok but hoped for more
I saw the trailer and I thought danny devito doing a dead poet society type movie but with the army? Sign me up and then it was just kinda eh i never found it that funny or cared enough for the soilders in the class and he only taught them one shakespear play and then at the end the biggest thing was this plot about that one guys dad that started as a throwaway line and i just sat there like ok cool i guess that was a movie, keep in mind this is very subjective just none of the elements hit me on any level but you might find this hilarious Or heartwarming even and usually i find danny devito to always Bring his A game but I don't know why this felt so weak.
Fear Street: 1994 (2021)
Pretty decent
I had no expectations going in and actually enjoyed it more than I thought, i do like how it's an amalgamation of different slasher movies however i felt it had potential to be something really good if it had a tighter script I especially think it gave a little to much info on what the sequels could have explored but i guess i will see when they come out, I would recommend it if you are bored i would guess teens might enjoy it more oh and allthough it's pretty fun to hear nostalgic 90's Tracks in a movie this one seems a little adhd switching from machine head to sophie hawkins to sour times in a matter of seconds and then a minute later cybress hill to creep and you can't even enjoy them they are so abrupt it's pretty jarring and i am not sure why they would pay so much to not even play the full tracks maybe we are in an age of movies where a licensed song has to come every couple of seconds?
