Gravity Falls (2012–2016)
2/10
Watched it one too many times and noticed the flaws

Warning: Spoilers
The strength in gravity falls is the amazing characters... no, the strength in gravity falls is the amazing writing... no, the strength in gravity falls is the originality... no! I used to like this show, there's still a part of me that wants to, but there's also a part of me which questions why no one is pointing out these things! 1. The characters are annoying and unlikeable. Mabel is genuinely infuriating and unfunny (we'll get to that later) I don't route for as a character, I don't laugh at her jokes and I especially don't feel sad when something bad happens. She always puts herself above others then is seen as this amazing person, it's insane. Her friends are even worse. Loud and obnoxious. That's it. That's all there is to their characters. Dipper is as unlikeable but he isn't likeable, there's just not fully a compulsion for you to route for him, for me at least. All other characters are either quirks, gags, one jokes or average. Except soos and Stan. Those guys are pretty good. 2. The writing is cringeworthy and cheesy. I told my friend who loves the show about this, he said "oh a lot of it's for kids, let it slide" the exact same person also said "there's a lot of humour for the adults in there" pick one. Can't have both. 3. It's just not good, cartoon twin peaks. I love twin peaks. I don't like this show. Pros: Solid story ideas and structure. The pace is great too. Season one was actually entertaining at times. Other: For me, the mythology doesn't feel very fleshed out and not in a good way. There's this one episode that I hate and will review now: The gang go on a road trip vandalising other tourist traps. Neat idea. Dipper is having trouble getting over Wendy so Stan teaches him how to talk to girls. Neat idea. This attracts Mabel's friend who is also on the trip: candy. As i've said, I don't like this character. She try's to weasel her way into a date with dipper which he doesn't want to do, then all the girls show up, she runs off crying, dipper feels bad, and are we supposed to feel bad too? Yes, but we don't, at least I don't. Honestly I can 100% see why someone would enjoy this show, I just watched it too many times and saw the flaws.

Great job, Christopher!

Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed this film, I thought a lot of the jokes landed, it was very entertaining and the cinematography was good (I thought the shaky cam worked in this instance.) I did think the script needed work at times, the previous connection between the two characters felt quite forced. But other than that this film is a lot of fun! Highly recommend for aspiring filmmakers like myself.

Truly set the ground work

Says lots about society, if only we had listened. The characters shine as imperfect masterpieces. The story flows like water onto an Indian baby. Highly recommend, would see again 11/10

Clean up on aisle 5

Warning: Spoilers
This film is a masterpiece of action and comedy. Golden face is a very threatening villain! "Ready... Set.." "Die!" One of the most chilling lines ever, and all those twists, it's amazing! So twisty. Lots of people so that it's ripping off films, but really it's being inspired and improving on them! Truly a masterpiece! Being honest, if you are a fan of the office (like myself), I would give it a watch, creed is great.

Evil Dead II (1987)

The greatest film of all time!?

Warning: Spoilers
Yes, this film has everything! Like romance? It's got romance! Like fantasy? It's got fantasy! And if you like comedy and horror, then this is DEFIANTLY your kind of film! The slapstick is really funny, and some bits are genuinely tense and scary!

Truly Sam Raimi's finest work too, if you're wanting to watch some of his work, start with this ( don't worry, it's got a recap at the start.) And the practical effects are truly something to behold. They can be cheesy at times, but that really helps at times.

It's always entertaining in some way, and inspired me to make films, so thank you Samuel, thank you.

Truly an achievement

This film is pretty much perfect. There are moments you are guaranteed to be scared or stressed in some way, and yet the message of family comforts you in a way. Amazing.
