Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988)
Needs More Praise
Killer Klowns from Outer Space I think was a very good film. Before I started watching, I thought the film was going to be bad and uninteresting. Near the beginning where Mike and Debbie enter the clowns' tent/spaceship. I saw some decent special effects that I was impressed by. Also the soundtrack was pretty good. It kind of reminded me of the Doom soundtrack. The story was very interesting and I was hooked throughout the movie. I did see that the dialogue and acting was mediocre but not bad. There were some scenes that I think were added in so the movie could have a larger runtime. The scenes, though, kind of showed the comedic side of Killer Klowns from Outer Space and I think showed how the writers embraced the weird name and plot of the film. The clowns really creeped me out. Their disfigured, ugly faces and large heads were disturbing. Their giant smiles were unsettling and them being either pretty short or extremely tall kind of unnerved me and I don't know why. The ending was questionable. I don't think that Dave could have survived the explosion of the spaceship and I don't think the brothers could have reached the freezer in time before their ice cream truck blew up. Also what happened with Dave's badge at the end. Did it blow up and kill the large clown? If it did, how? If it didn't blow up and kill the large clown, what actually happened? Yes, the acting in the movie wasn't too good and it isn't one of the most influential films of all time but it wasn't bad at all and it really impressed me with how well the writers embraced and formed the weird plot into a somewhat decent film.
Häxan (1922)
Interesting but I Wouldn't Watch Again
I found the film very interesting. The insight into witchcraft was very compelling. The reasons I gave it an 8/10 is how I found some of the parts of the film somewhat boring. Such as the part where that old woman was accused of being a with her just went on and on for a lot of the film. Other than that I liked the film. I don't think I'd watch it again though like I would with many documentaries.
Friday the 13th Part X: To Hell and Back (1995)
Impressive for a Fan Film
Despite some of the parts being laughable this is a great fan film. The acting and story are well done and I was enthralled and entertained the whole way through. The costumes and makeup were quite good. I'd even go as far as to say that it's better than some of the Friday the 13th films including the actual part X.
Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari (1920)
An Absolute Masterpiece
The film's scenery and story are one of the most fascinating parts of the movie. The expressionism and the twist ending are beautifully done. It is one of the first movies to use a twist especially two. The sets are my most favorite parts of the film with painted shadows and twisted uneven buildings to show that we are truly in the mind of a madman. I have watched this movie over 6 times and I am still impressed by it.
