Injustice (2021)
Really Good Movie, bad/too rushed for source material
Pretty solid entry from DC... too bad it's WAAAAYYY too crammed for what it's based on. Great voice acting and action. Realistically, this shoulda be a 2-3 part movie series like they did The Long Halloween.
Watchmen (2009)
Top 5 comic book movie of all time
Let me just say, Zack Snyder did an excellent job adapting the most acclaimed graphic novel of all time on to the big screen. Having read the novel myself, I would consider the source material to be hard to adapt and Zack did the best that anyone could have so props to him. Snyder's choice to not include the squid may be bothersome to many but I feel it was a good choice considering die hard fans of the novel aren't the only ones who will watch this and it should be easier to digest. Great casting, visuals, and costume design. What I thought was most unique about the film was it's intro, and a great pick to have the title song be bob dylan. Great film and one of DC's best for sure.
Batman: Arkham Origins (2013)
Egregiously Underrated
Best boss fights, characters, and pacing of the entire series. Roger Craig Smith and Troy Baker did a phenomenal job stepping in and providing the voices for our two leads. This game deserves WAY more respect and it's a shame that it doesn't get it.
Batman: Arkham Knight (2015)
Very good, not great
I've played this game twice and I left with a couple feelings. This game by far is the best aesthetically, from the buildings, to the sky, to all of the characters outfits. The combat is still the best in the industry and the voice acting is elite-tier as per usual.
I have three main criticisms of the game though. My first is the story. The narrative of this game doesn't hold a candle to the three games that came before it. Why would scarecrow threaten to gas the city and then allow everyone to escape??? What leverage does he have at that point.
My second criticism is ending. Boy oh boy, did rocksteady end this game badly. I was very underwhelmed with the whole nightmare aspect of the ending and the "revealing Batman's identity" portion of the plot. I get that this game was intended to conclude the series to an extent, but it just flopped in my opinion.
My last criticism is the fact that rocksteady relied on the joker and Jason Todd to carry the story. Rocksteady told us that we were going to have an original character in the Arkham Knight. They lied. About an hour into the game, I knew Todd was coming from a mile away. It's not even the fact that they lied about him not being the Arkham Knight, it's that he was written so poorly as to be portrayed as a brat. As for the Joker, I think Rocksteady needs to move on from him in the next game. I think we are all tired of seeing him, especially since the ending of Arkham City sent him off masterfully.
Overall very good game though.
The Dark Knight (2008)
The superhero genre's crown jewel
Where do I even start?? From the plot to the sheer scale and scope of this film is amazing. Every single aspect of this film is PERFECTLY executed. Oh, and heath ledger's performance? There will be years before we as the audience ever see an individual capture the essence of the character he plays and do it better than heath did in this film. Talk about playing a role, it's a damn shame he passed before he was able to witness the acclaim he received for his performance. The script was phenomenal, excellent pacing, satisfying ending, and masterful direction. This has been my favorite movie of all time since it's release and I challenge anyone to make a case for why this film is anything short of a masterpiece across all film genres. Bravo Nolan!!
