Dinner Time Live with David Chang (2024)
Great cooking, chat show-David is so genuine!
This is one of the most interesting cooking shows on now...I especially appreciate that it's live so there is no editing out the the flubs, mistakes and since it's on Netflix it has more leeway on language. While you might not learn a specific recipe from the show you learn techniques, equipment, ingredients that you can search and learn more about and even find some good recipes. I appreciate that it is just s few people eating great food and having a chat. I sincerely hope there are additional seasons with even more interesting guests, good food and fun built in too. I'll keep watching as long as it's on the air and I'll recommend it to others.
My Darling Vivian (2020)
The woman who really made Johnny Cash
The narrative was all about June, but Vivian deserves a lot of credit for who Johnny Cash became. Hearing how her children talk about her reveals a very much loved, wonderful woman who put up with a lot from the man, she loved who it ultimately abandon her. So much of the narrative is about June cash saving Johnny Cash, but I feel like his early life was more impactful and probably shaved him more as a man than white people give credit to. What a moving documentary, the fact that her children loved her so much proves that she was a good person who left a an indelible mark on the world, but lived in the shadows, because she married a man who is destined to be a star at a young age.
Priscilla (2023)
Elvis the creepy prod?
What an interesting take on Elvis. We know he was deep into pills...it caused it caused his death. He was all about indulging right down to his peanut butter, banana, mayo sandwiches that were fried. So it makes sense that he recruited a teenage girl he could groom in the likeness of his mom to bear his children and then he just couldn't see her as. Sexual being anymore. But at 14years old,he had to work hard to control himself. I grew up as an Elvis fan...a child in the 70s, teenager in the 80s and 20 something in the 90s. What a difficult and confronting depiction of our idol from all those years.
Sophia Coppola has a good reason what I believe the situation was. Might be slightly exaggerated but I'm not sure. Elvis was a troubled person with demons that were brought on by all the people around him. Nowadays, stars are sued when they overstep...back then Priscilla's family served her up because he was famous. I need to watch this one more time to get the nuances. I do believe this is pretty close to what really happened back then.
Torn (2021)
I'm Torn...
The love of a family wasn't enough to keep him home. Was he selfish to take such risks as a family man or selfless in giving his life for an adventure. He missed out on so much but I'm sure his last thoughts were of his family. Ultimately his sons were able to give him a proper goodbye.
While his wife and best friend moved to quickly in my opinion, it's clear that Conrad filled a void and clearly loved the family. What a wonderful tribute to a man who couldn't be still enough to just be a dad but ultimately was a hero to his kids. I'm sure seeing him one last time brought closure and solace to his family. He missed out on so much but hopefully his soul was able to feel and see it.
Queen of Versailles Reigns Again (2022)
She's a disgusting huma
I watched the documentary in 2012 out of curiosity. She and her family are proof that money doesn't buy you class. I think karma keeps taking out Versailles for a reason and it's well deserved. Her husband is now in his lte 80s and dealing with medic; issues. I doubt seriously that her palace will ever be completed. The construction is shoddy and it's in a part of the country that deals with hurricanes. Some parts of the house are pretty but the stuff in her antique warehouse is tacky. 😳
I heard that they bought a $5 million home to live in. If I were them, I'd strip the house, bulldoze and donate the construction materials and donate the land to a preserve. Give back rather than the constant consumption.
Harry & Meghan (2022)
Why all the hate?
Since Diana died I haven't followed the royals as closely. She was the last real human from that family and you saw how that ended after what she went through. I blame the royals for her death. They made it impossible for her to be herself.
Now enter Megan Markle. No, I'm not a fan of hers...not at all...she's sort of annoying. But I do feel like Harry is genuine and caring and kind. The true offspring from his mom. Megan I can take or leave, but I do believe this documentary series gave them a platform to tell the true and unvarnished story of the royals. Let's be real...william and Charles are horrible humans. Kate and Camilla...ugh. Give me a break. At the point when it's called an institution it's about money...just money. And the subtle racism is horrible. Go with an open mind. Listen to what they went through. It's not a money grab. It's an opportunity for them to tell THE TRUE STORY. The reason monarchies need to go away.
Please, please let them be. And thank you Harry for sharing your story and what you saw and experienced on a daily basis. I admire you. The monarchy killed your mom...you are saving your family.
Southern Hospitality (2022)
Sad. Not my cup of sweet tea
I watched one episode and it made me sad. I grew up in Charleston but moved away in 2006. I considered moving back, but after visiting year after year and witnessing its decline, I don't ever want to move back. This is an example of why Charleston has lost its class and charm. No thanks. Makes me want to never go to the city again. I miss Charleston as a culinary destination, but it seems to becoming a seedy kind of place. And Leva is just a gross person, it seems, and an example of the people who moved to Charleston, opened businesses and ushered in an era that true Charlestonians don't want to be a part of. It's a shame that this is the best example Bravo could find.
Darcey & Stacey (2020)
How is this still on the air?
These women are such a cliché, and the show is boring, contrived and not worth watching. Don't know how they're still on the air. I feel sorry for their daughters and hope they stay the natural beauties they are rather than following their moms into the abyss of plastic surgery after plastic surgery. If they keep it up, they will be a study in plastic surgery gone wrong...they're already on their way.
A Bad Moms Christmas (2017)
Most moms feel like they don't live up...these women don't give an eff.
You have to just go with it. As a mom who felt the pressure to be perfect, this is a nice distraction. Just enjoy it. Don't try to compare it to an Oscar-winning movie.
Our Friend (2019)
Every couple needs our friend
Casey Affleck is the most underrated actor. He embodies what we all feel but can't express and then expertly acts it out. He deserves so much more credit.
International Falls (2019)
Real. And a real review
I was looking for a good independent film to watch and stumbled upon this one...so glad I watched it! This is a peek u dear the covers of real life and it is fascinating.
