Deliver Us from Evil (2014)
Best horror movie ever made.
Incredible. Just incredible. The director managed to perfect this experience for the viewer, the use of sounds and psychological camera work really make you feel like you are there.
The story is fantastic, intricate and gripping, it keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat through-out.
The actors are all brilliant and talented. Little bits of clever humour are added into the story and they are genuine laughs, it makes for a wonderful mixture when the subject matter is so incredibly dark and twisted.
This horror is so fricken scary, and I am a horror movie fan, it takes a lot to impress me.
This movie hands down beats any other horror movie I have ever seen, and I have seen almost all of them.
I wish I could watch it again for the first time, it left me speechless and in awe.
Sisu (2022)
Better than John Wick
The cinematography is outstanding, poetic, brutal. The dialogue is minimal but effective and you will find the actors portray their thoughts so well it is as if you can hear them. I am honestly blown away.
It is exceedingly violent but, violent in a manner that doesn't cheapen the movie, it excels at the realistic gruesome scenes with a flawless elegance.
This movie is gripping, it will capture your mind and your heart rate and have you shushing anyone who interupts as you watch it.
The story is completly original, the violence is completely original, the style is also.. completely original.
Amazing film!
Extraction (2020)
All action, barely any story.
Yawn! The directors tried so hard to make this movie an epic action piece, they managed to make it incredibly shallow and boring. Many of the action sequences were filmed with no visible cuts, to greater increase tension and atmosphere, but it truly made it exhausting. I love one man army movies but this felt like watching paint dry.
The "storyline" (if you can call it that) is well used in many other films, and the level of engagement you will feel to the characters in this film will be non-existent.
If you want to watch stunts watch this movie, if you want a storyline and something to make you feel tense and involved, hard pass it.
Ghostland (2018)
Love this movie!
I went in blind and found myself riveted and horrified!
Good grief, this film is excellent! The story is so multidimensional and gives you a wonderful varied experience. It's truly disturbing and for the first time in a very long time I had to look away from my tv so I didn't see what was happening. I love horror and I love twisted and sick stories, so this was *chefs kiss* perfect!
Await Further Instructions (2018)
Will you blindly follow?
At what point do you stop listening? After a trial vaccine kills your family? When people turn on each other and die?
This film is extremely clever and I find is humorous it came our right before the pandemic and people behaved just like in the film, doing whatever they are told because the person controlling the tv tells them to, even when their families are dying and nothing makes any sense.
The Seasoning House (2012)
if you enjoyed the movie Eden Lake, you'll enjoy this.
Ruthless, ruthless, ruthless. The first half of the movie is bleak and relentlessly violent, but I do see this as having a purpose, it's to create a deep emotional response so when in the second half of the film, the death/mute protagonist goes on to get some sweet vengeance, you feel her desperate fight, so much so I was shouting at my T. V. egging her on.
It's a rough film, not many will enjoy watching it, but if you enjoy really twisted movies this is for you, It's sick and bleak and then edge of your seat thrilling!
I didn't give it a perfect score because there was two scenes that were super messed up and I'm not sure it had to be portrayed quite so disturbingly to have the same end result.
