Voleuses (2023)
Adorable to watch
Aside from the picturesque landscapes and great choices of film/background score, all in all this is a fun movie to watch with not much violence and gore. Boosting with female power, charisma, humor, loyalty and friendship, the bond and chemistry between Alex and Caroule were greatly portrayed that I wish I can be the Sam in their lives. The script and witty comeback exchanges between the characters were also funny and relatable. Watching this will make you want to have what they have. Though there were some plotholes, the movie did not veer off from it's story. And yes, I did shed a tear at the ending.
Will Trent (2023)
Not what I was expecting.
It's a big let-down from what I was expecting. Though Ramon Rodriguez is a likeable actor, the casting is pretty off. If you read the books, you will have a sense of description on how the characters were supposed to look like. Amanda Wagner and Evelyn Mitchell weren't supposed to be black. Same goes with Faith Mitchell. Will Trent is described to be 6'3. Angie Polaski in the books was tall, curvy and strikingly beautiful and seductive. Pete Hanson was supposed to be older than Amanda and Evelyn.
Also, they change most of the plot. They shouldn't have rushed the story telling to provide more of an understanding and mystery to every case. They toned down the gruesome crimes especially on the last 2 episodes. You should read Slaughter's book Criminal to understand what I'm trying to say. A lot of vital characters weren't included. All in all, I suggest you read her books. Karin Slaughter is a brilliant writer.
The Best of Me (2014)
Unremarkable
Have watched this before but the movie was so unremarkable that I accidentally watched it again. I just had to say that they have very poor casting. The younger versions didn't looked even the slightest bit of what they portrayed when they grew older. Young Dawson even looked older and more mature than his older character.
The story plot is predictable. Typical conflicted love story.
1917 (2019)
You will get a feeling you're inside a war action game
It felt that all was taken on a one long continuous take. Gripping and exhausting at the same time. Focuses on a single task or goal that will have a huge impact on history.
El hoyo (2019)
A depiction of today's society
Though the film depicts the true story of our society nowadays from the priviledged to the poor, the elites to the poverty, I feel that the ending was rushed and very vague. The audience will be left hanging seeking for explanations.
The 15:17 to Paris (2018)
Amateur actors did it well
I was surprised to see at the end list of casts that the actual protagonists were the actors on the film. That explained the natural acting and delivery of lines. The build up for the plot is well written leading you to understand what trained them to do and act on such situations.
Revenge (2017)
Patterned from the movie I Spit on your Grave
I watched this on Netfix. I was expecting a more gruesome and sadistic torture to the girl based on Netflix's sypnosis. So many plotholes and too much blood unaccounted for the number of bodies. This is more of a gore movie than of an action movie.
