La casa de papel (2017)
-1*
What a load of b.s. Of a show. I don't think I even managed to finish episode 1. I got up to the part where they started shooting in the ground against the cops. Lol, what??? They had the guy handpick and train these people, and he didn't think about what will happen when the cops get there? Get out of here!
The show: Extremely slow paced and frankly not interesting. There's no sense of urgency or anything that made me want to root for the heist or the characters. There was no justification for the heist or why the characters wanted to get into heist. Ok I quit in early episode, but then there should have been at least 1 interesting character that made me wanna continue the show. Nope, not one. Nada. Zil.
What an utter bore of a show!
Also, on the side note, does Spain not have more actors ; they recycled actors from Elite.
Bird Box (2018)
ok
It's ok. The biggest glaring plot hole is why the f did the people leave the food store? Like they could have taken the trip to get the rest of the people to the store where there's ample food supply? Sure there's the crazy- eyed-who's-seen-the-being people outside the store, but they managed to get in the store AND get out? Surely they could get in again the 2nd time, and get the rest of the people from the house. Plus it's not like there aren't other crazy eyed people around their house. AND the store has locks too. It's not like it's wide open where anyone can get in? But nope, they were like "yeah, let's grab a few, and get out of here???"
That's the biggest mystery here.
The Invisible Man (2020)
meh
I did not find this thrilling at all. I must say I did not like the actress' acting style. It did not suit /flow naturally. I found her acting agitated/frightened/disturbed did not feel natural at all, a bit clunky and maybe over the top. This bothered me.
Anyway, the movie itself is doesn't have a lot of depth or anything. It's simple; what you see is what you get kind. Yea, the kind that leaves you before your leave the theatres.
Clueless (1995)
I don't see the hype.
Overrated movie. Saw it the first time this year or was it last year? Hm...the pandemic has blurred everything.
Well, first of all, I was expecting a murder/mystery movie because of the title. Now, hear me out. I went blind into this movie, because it's supposedly iconic, and I wanted to be surprised. Anyway, there is a rhyme and reason to my wild murder/mystery movie expectation. #1There's a game called Clue with that premise, I believe? #2 There was a ridiculous movie by Lindsay Lohan about a teen crime detective who was dressed similarly to the movie poster here. So, I was extremely surprised to find out in fact it is not a murder/mystery movie. Lol. I was like towards the later half of the movie, and I was like when is she going to solve the murder? And then the movie ended.
Now even scrapping the expectation, this movie still isn't all that. I don't see the hype.
Mean Girls (2004)
Cult Classic!
This movie is "so fetch!" Side note, I had a mean girls themed birthday last year. Easily one of my favourite movies.
It's a Boy Girl Thing (2006)
Kevin Zegers is hot!
I loved this. I watched this in my preteen years. Not sure why I remembered the boy character to be utterly unattractive/below average. Boy, o, boy, was I so wrong!
Kevin Zegers is hawt in this movie!!! How could my prepubescent eyes have seen otherwise! Lol. Ya, I was totally going in this movie thinking "ya, I've already seen this before, and I'm ready to be disappointed by the male lead for the next hour or so", but noo, I was wrong. Woo!
Oh, the movie, yes, the movie is great. Enjoyed it!
Shazam! (2019)
8/10
Enjoyed this! Recommend it! That's all I gotta say!
The Dragon Prince (2018)
Whoa, what's up with the solid 8 plus reviews?
Right off the bat, what is up with the animation? Namely, the style of animation, and the lifeless colours. The animation was too dark for me. I hated the colour combination, and the story line just gives me a headache. I did not enjoy it.
Saying that, I did enjoy the clever dark haired magician girl character. Super interesting. I enjoyed her brother's character too who was portrayed as a simpleton (in comparison to the sister) with the muscles, but with a deep heart. Those two, especially the girl, deserved a better animated world than this one. She outshone the main characters tbh.
My main problem was the show's animation style, the colours, and the many many pointless story lines which was basically the whole show.
Even though it's aimed at children, something about the animation is totally unsettling. For me anyway.
The Dictator (2012)
Average
Kind of funny. Not too funny. Idk. I don't get this comedy. I was just thinking with all that movie budget, with all the script writer, and an actor who is a comedian, this is what they came up with? I mean is this the best script they could do? A little disappointing. Save your time by seeing the compilation of funny scenes from the movie in YouTube.
Never Have I Ever (2020)
9/10
I really enjoyed this. However, I found myself skipping all the side characters who were not the protagonist's love interest. I really really liked this. Anyway, Ben is super cute. He and Devi are perfect together. She is more herself when she's with Ben. He knows who she really is, the good and the bad, and he still likes her, not like Paxton who's only seen her nice side. Plus, Ben really pushes her to rise higher, and she equally pushes him. They're perfect. I'm loving this enemies turned friends turned lovers. Lol. Yea, Paxton could never intellectually stimulate her like Ben does. So, hands down Ben and Devi all the way!
Outlander (2014)
9/10 For Season 1 only
9/10 For Season 1. This show should have ended with Season 1. But if the viewers really wanted more for some closure then the joining Season1 with the latter end of Season 2, and the select few episodes of early Season 3 would have fine. Trust me, the rest of the season is just dragged out and unnecessary, and runs the show to the ground.
Ooh, let's talk about season 1. What a mystical, alluring fantasy world! (I'm envious of Claire. I too would like to get trapped in time in the highlands with handsome Scottish hunk! ) I really liked how everything weaved together. How Claire being a nurse came to aid in the show and how that got her implicated of being a witch (whoa, that came out wrong. I mean it fit/flowed with the story; it's believability with the time and all etc, not that she got accused of being a witch.), why they were in Scotland, and how Frank being a history professor helped Claire know the Scottish history and his ancestors too etc etc.
In summary, once a superb show who is being dragged through the mud. It's earlier work deserves all the praises; however, the later seasons are an abomination compared to its predecessor, and frankly, should not have existed. (Yes, I quit somewhere in season 3 or 4.)
Thor: The Dark World (2013)
not worth watching
This movie was like eating cereal and water. wouldn't watch it again.
Shutter Island (2010)
no mystery here
4/10
no mystery here. i guessed the plot correctly before i watched it. but someone is the internet was like "no that's not it". so i watched it thinking i was wrong but i wasn't wrong. so i was pissed off. so 4/10 (a below average) for wasting my time. you won't see anything spectacular here. it was not mind blowing at all like i was led to believe. the whole plot super easy.
Shingeki no Kyojin (2013)
idk the characters are just nuisance
7/10 because most of the characters just piss me off.
I hate the Eren: just useless. the whole series involves saving him someway somehow. (And i betcha season4 involves a big rescue mission aswell for Eren. just like all the other seasons.) he's a nobody and would have died a long time ago if not for his love interest, Mikasa, who's saving his ass most of the time.
oh ya, i hate Mikasa as well for her utter unwavering devotion to Eren. it's just annoying beyond belief for me. if only she kicked her feelings to the curb for eren (and got together with levi. a total badass couple), she's be so much better character. she's just a badass but eren brings her down several notches in my book. oh ya, i hate aramin aswell. that useless bowl cut blond who just stands around helplessly most of the season. again a little nobody who survived this brutal world for no other reason than to show "weak can be strong and eventually become an important chess piece". what a utter load of bs. i just hate aramin. to think more important and useful characters like levi's squads had to die over someone like aramin, connie, and sasha. like how? i suppose it kinda makes sense strong/skilled characters were in the front line taking the blows. but at the same time it's so aggravating. how those two characters connie and sasha survived this far is beyond me. they are not only weak; they are cowards too. sasha was the only one who couldn't kill her titan in that simultaenous attack scene. Then someone had to kill it for her because the coward was too busy crying and begging for her life. ugh! how is she alive???? they are type of people that'd get injured by themselves because they couldn't operate their weapon. also, i'm royally pissed off aramin was chosen over the captain. i wish they had chosen the captain over him.
also what's up with historia becoming important somebody. a queen no less of the place. sigh. they had like whole episode dedicated to that. what about levi's squad's story? what about the many skilled fighters who died suddenly's story? nope, they had to give another weakling a stage.anyway, it's an utter mess. good story though. but the character and the level of role they're given does not match. i'd have much preferred to watch the story unfold from the stronger men/women's point of view than the unbelievable weaklings like aramin, erein, hisotria, connie, and sasha who become stronger/important character somehow. yeah... no. perhaps, it's supposed to be awe-inspiring that nobodies can become somebody. but as per the words of syndrome from the incredibles "when everyone is a hero, no one is."
Seuwiteuhom (2020)
4/10 for the horrible cgi monsters
4/10 for the horrible cgi monsters which brings the whole drama down, esp since the show is based on these monsters. Oh ya, the building is also a horrible cgi.it was made in 2020, and this is the cgi? ugh!
Hm what else? let's see, the plot is alright so far. I was scared a lot. It has a quite few heart stopping moments.
However, I'm already seeing some of the korean specific trope, namely, the mother whose daughter is outside and wants to open the gate. I just hated how the other characters didn't let her go the 2nd time. Like hey man, personal choice/decision, the mother has a functional mind; she can consent. She wants to go outside and die? Let her try and die. Stop keeping her and endanger the rest of group. Alright, the first time I understood why they couldn't open the door. Heck, even I wouldn't let her. I'd fight her tooth and nails and override her reckless decision to endanger not only herself, but others too. But bish when she did it again secretly and opened the freakin door, it's time to cut some losses and kick her out of the door. She wants to go that badly to save her daughter? LET. HER. The door was open and they held her back???( I could see that plotline a mile away because THIS is KDRAMA. This is train to busan all over again when the grandma opened the door. ) I can't believe they had literally noone to keep an eye on her after her 1st attempt. Who's stupid enough to let her off completely without 2nd thought? Oh another thing, the bish was not punished for her action. Instead, they had characters be like "oh, no her daughter's dead." Ya, well, what about the solider who died unnecessarily trying to save her? (ya, they don't talk about it.) Tbh, they should have the mother try to rescue her daughter to give her some closure. and wth was her daughter doing outside anyway with all those mosnters? how did she make it that far? makes no sense.
oh last thing, i hate seeing that actor in the wheelchair. he's everywhereeeeeeeee. i'm tired so seeing the same face again and again.
Élite (2018)
def didn't deserve 2nd season
Below average. 4/10. Not interesting enough imo to be series. Shoulda been a movie. That would have bumped up my 4*.
The End of the F***ing World (2017)
8/1 for season 1
8/1 for season 1 as I haven't watched season 2.. Hm tbh I don't think season 2 is necessary.
I liked this. Interesting. What a ride.
Imawa no Kuni no Arisu (2020)
UPTO EP 2 IS 8*
It's only 8/10 up till EP2. Then it goes downhill for me. Overall, it brings down the average to 6/10, maybe even 5/10 from me.
Ep2 was my favorite. I was so scared I had to pause multiple times to get through the episode. I just couldn't. The sight of being hunted down by a masked psychopathic armed lunatic with calm and controlled demeanor was utterly terrifying. That's like my worst nightmare.
Anyway, the whole setting is utter nightmare. This is like the definition of hell for me. To be forced into participating into a game of strength, intelligence, betrayal, and wits again and again with the threat of death by laser that never misses. Incredibly stress inducing scenario. I was having anxiety in the first 2 episodes.
Widaehan Yuhokja (2018)
Had a great potential
The problem with kdrama is it doesn't have the balls to be unpredictable, unorthodox, and daring to name a few. Hm. Had a great potential. For once, just once, we could have had a show featuring bad girl with a bad boy. That would have been some sight to see. But noo, good girl with a bad boy. like always. sigh. it the same old, same old rehashed plot line since boys before flowers days...And that's been like 10 years since.
I'm tired of good girls with bad boys. Give me something exciting. Give me bad girl with a bad boy for once. I wanna see how bad it gets, how thrilling it gets, how heart wrenching it gets. I wanted to see Soo-JI and Si- HYun together. Well, they had something like that at start and then quickly nothing.
I hoped too much for kdrama. Shoulda known it wouldn't deviate from the norm. Hm. Maybe in like 20 years time, or even 50 years time this may change.
Dexter (2006)
meh
Can't connect, can't relate to the character. Pretty boring by himself. One murder case went on and on and on, don't know if it was solved by the end as I quit the series some episodes in in season 1. Some scenes were interesting like seeing the mind of the killer when he's trying to thwart douke by trying to act normal, dexter's blood collection, and dexter trying to act normal before he was suspected by douke. ya, i loved douke and dexter's interactions but they were far too few. Shoulda been more, would have bumped up my 3* to like 6 or 7*. Douke was like the spice; he added flavor to the show, to dexter. But as I said, there should have been more.
Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005)
My childhood show
I can't believe it's aimed at children. Wow, just wow. This is the sort of show I want to pass onto when I have children. I stands the test of time.
Gisaengchung (2019)
Overrated
Can't see the hype. Totally overrated. I predicted the plot all the way through. I knew the cleaning lady would return, I knew for sure the family would return, and I knew there was someone in the bunker. And that is like the meat of the story. So, I was bored. 4/10 for being below average.
Agui kkot (2020)
>:(
Interesting plot, but it falls flat. I didn't manage to finish the show. Ok here goes...
Well, like every other kdramas out there, the tension builds and builds and then it falls apart faster than a speed off light in a vacuum. I'm talking about the scene where he is in the apartment and the wife suddenly comes. Then he's hanging outside the building and she's about to open the curtain. Ya, they really slowed down the scene with dramatic music and she's about to open the curtain and expose him. Buttttttt this is kdrama; it doesn't have the balls. So, she just moves on.
And oh another thing with k drama is they try to implicate a character incredibly villainous/evil/murderer only to uno reverse everything. Oh ya, that's usually a sign the character is in fact innocent and I, the viewer, am wrong even though I have been led thoroughly to believe otherwise. So EVENTHOUGH I have quit the series, I bet you my bottom dollar that the husband is innocent like super-duper innocent, and he has nothing to do with the crime. At all. And oh another thing, I bet you he's not psychopathic like the viewers have been lead to believe. I betcha he's such a feeling husband.
Cheese in the Trap (2016)
big Nope
Literally nothing happens. You know, I have a problem with kdramas. They make a big deal out of nothing; nothing interesting happens and when it does, it's not consistent. This is an epitome of such kdrama. I wish Koreans were more selective in what dramas they make. I wish dramas weren't produce for the sake of producing. This drama didn't deserve 16 episode. (Oh yea, what the hell is up with 16 episode for all dramas?) Perhaps, if the show was condensed and airtight to say like x3 20 or 30 min episodes, it'd be somewhat enjoyable. Ya, I think it's better suitable for movie, but then again, what even happens? It's actually not even movie worthy. And btw, what is up with the title?
Better Call Saul (2015)
Forgettable series
Nothing intersting happens. For ppl who are looking for breaking badesque series, this. is. not. it. Ya, I know it's a spin off but it's nothing like its predecessor. And it tries to be. So. bad. Anyway, utterly forgettable series. 2/10.
