Not much rescuing, but decent
16 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Only one 118 rescue, and Marjan who can't help herself being helpfull.

But the both in-laws trying to take over and make it's their own thing was funny, and with controlling parents a thing that could be very reckognizable event. Luckily in this instance it's coming from a place of love. The whole episode was a bit slow and could be seen as a filler, but it's more of a small character study of the grooms, the family dynamic and how it's about to change.

And of course Marjan can't help herself being a badass, helping people (unfortunatly the woman who was the inspiration didn't have that luck). The fire extinguisher was a nice touch.

Just one thing that always rubs me the wrong way as a rock- and metal fan; why does the bad guy always have to like heavy music? We're not animals.

We could've seen this coming
15 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
And that's why I love episodes like this.

Some people will be p*ssed off because it shows a real world problem that doesn't touch them (at the moment) so their antipathy and selfishness gets fully displayed.

Because mental health care is just as important as physical health care, and we see that in this story, but just at the end. Because the attacks aren't aimed at the politician with the progressive ideas (which is a very real world problem nowadays, and not only in the US), but they are really aimed at an aide who had an accident a year ago where a kid got killed, and the father blames that aid, although the police investigation showed it was just a horrible accident. The father spinned mentally out of control and tried to kill said aide. Nice that the politician showed his principles and told the public that it was also a clear indicator that health care matters.

2 point detraction for the stupid love thingy between the protagonist and the politician. Wasn't necessary, and distracting.

Doctor Who: The Power of the Doctor (2022)

This should've been in the beginning
24 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Finally, after all these years, Chibnall has done what he should've done in the beginning; he tried to give this incarnation of the Doctor something of a character of her own. The determination was always a staple of the Doctor, as was the curiosity. But 9 was the war torn Doctor, 10 was the one healing but hurting, 11 was joyful and chaotic, but dark and 12 was older, grumpier. But 13 never really got a character trade of her own.

But now, at the end, there was finally a hint pointing to something that made her the Doctor. I'm still not sure what it would've been, but.at least it wasn't a washed out carbon copy of all the other Doctors. Well, too little, too late. This should be done in the first episode and fleshed out in the second.

And it had the same problem it had all Chibnall's run long; stunning visuals, but the story is either lacking or too packed, resulting in dropped plot lines and plot holes. Is he trying to rule beyond the grave?

So, why still a passing grade? Because I'm still a sucker for the fan service with Ace, Tegan and all the old Doctors. Yes, I admit it.

But it's very disheartening to get a passing grade at the last moment.

I sincerely hope that RTD2 will bring back the old form.

Well, you get people commenting not knowing the source material
24 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The one's and two's are very indicative of people whining about something without knowing the source material;

-She-Hulk breaks the fourth wall over and over again in the comics, and does it all the time in the series. The leading internal conversation (that we all do, don't kid yourself) was always a good step up to the addressing of us, the audience.

-Taking the mickey out of the writers and writing process, all done in the comics, so this was on par again.

-The whole start of the series was that she didn't need her big, green nephew, who unknowingly got her in this predicament to begin with, so her whole railing against the.'rescue by the hulk, fighting Abomonation.

FBI: Most Wanted: Iron Pipeline (2022)

Well, we've seen this one coming
23 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Yeah, the ammosexuals are rubbed the wrong way, because this episode points out the crimes that happen because of their extensions.

"But meh guns" is of course the reason why.the 1's and 2's are flying all over the place. You see it every time; when the real world comes too close, they start to whine. The bad guys have to be people with a slight colour, preferably that say things like "As-salamu alaykum". White guys who kill and smuggle guns can't be The Bad Guys! Although it's so very obvious that the USA has got a huge gun problem, legal and illegal. And the Iron Pipeline is a real thing. But no, we don't want to hear about that.

Otherwise; the.episode itself. It's a bit uneven, the problems at home for. Remy Scott are bit easy stepped over, a bit like bookends to the main story. And maybe get an extra guy on the team, even it out a bit. Like someone already said; at the moment it's a bit a Charlie's Angels with a badge and a chip on their shoulder.

This did what was thought to be impossible
25 April 2022
If you love NuWho, we all have the same go-to when it comes to worst episode; Love and Monsters.

But not anymore, I say to you, there is a new bottom of the barrel.

The script looked like they only have filmed every other page, the dialog is another "I should write for Big Finish Stories" special (for those who don't know, they are audio books) in which everything is explained, even if you see it being acted out on screen. But not only that, the dialog is as wooden as the acting, and I've seen trees who acted better. The only one who really wasn't acting like they were auditioning for the school play they didn't want to act in was John Bishop.

I don't know if continuity is completely on the shoulders of the director, but rain-dry-rain-dry-rain in one scene, sometimes between shots, that's so sloppy. And I'm not saying anything about the modern sneakers, even big productions have that oversight sometimes, but it adds...

Oh, and the resolution was another Chibnall special; let others do the dirty work.

Really, I'm hoping, waiting, praying for RTD2. That's the only hope for the survival of the undying doctor.

Decent episode, but shows something perculiar
10 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
As you can see in the review section of other episodes and compare it with this one, something strange can be seen. The baddies now are foreigners with left wing idea's, and the 8, 9, and 10's are back. The other ones, where white right wingers are the bad guys, get so many 1's and 2's, it's hilarious.

The bias of the pissed of review writer is showing.

On the episode itself; it's decent, maybe a bit too much 9/11 sentiment, just to pamper the right wing crowd?

It looked beautiful, but...
8 December 2021
When we talk about the Doctor Who fandom, we know what we want; stories. Not all the bling of high production value (although we won't snuff that), but the basis is a good story with a decent set up and a good conclusion.

Well, Chibnall did it again; he spent all the money on gorgeous special effects, but hasn't spent a cent on the writing staff; it was a mess, and flipping the perspective around all the time, smearing it out over multiple times/places isn't working to mitigate that. And still, after 6 episodes he can't wrap up all the story lines he set up. To be honest, I was afraid that would happen, so that's why I didn't review other episodes except the first (and there I was very, very on the edge if it was any good).

Chibnall is still the kid that can't have it that somebody else made something beautiful and has to destroy it. We all knew a kid like that in school (and if you didn't know one, it was probably you).

How can people miss the real message?
15 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It's heavy handed, it's not subtle, but still people miss the message the writers try to bring across.

The message is a stark indictment against fake news.

It's in the title.

It's said by the people in the team.

It's even said by the talk show host while he's trying to quit, and is confirmed by the real bad guy in this episode; the network manager.

And it's the downfall of Sanchez; taking credit for something he didn't do, and on which his career is built. With that taken away, he knows he can't play out his plans to get Hondo out and so he takes the money and runs.

But it's very telling that some people see it as "they want to take away our toys!!!"

Oh, this isn't easy.
3 November 2021
First the rating; If this was an episode in the past two seasons, this would've easily been an eight or nine. If this wasn't in the Chibnall era it would've been a 2 or 3. Yes, it's that a big of a difference.

It's a bit all over the place, it's not very engaging and the Doctor's character is still as deep as a sheet of paper. After two seasons they should have nailed a character. They should've done it within the first half of the first season. Also the Whittakers acting is a very bland mash up of Tennant, Smith, a bit of Capaldi and a pinch of Eccleston, but everything is just not exactly on the money and that makes it a very tasteless stew. I think Mandip Gill's frustration is so lifelike because she's fed up with the way her character is written; whiny and also flat. But she get's it done with what she gets.

Jon Bishop is good and defines his character within the first 4 minutes of screen time he gets. So, they can write a decent character. And the interaction with his 'best friend' are great.

Let's hope the rest of the season is better, but still. I'm waiting until RTD is back. Such a shame they mishandled Whittaker this bad, she can act.

Tapping out halfway episode 4
13 October 2021
The idiot who dreamed this load of nonsense up hasn't ever been to Europe, so much is clear.

The fbi has only jurisdiction in the US and has to say 'pretty please' if they want to do anything abroad. But not according to the writers. Because "the yanks will save the day!"

Supernatural has a more believable premisse.

This Is Pop: Auto-Tune (2021)
Season 1, Episode 1
5/10
Was a bit disappointing
2 July 2021
I hoped this was more an expose on how auto-tune really ruined music by educating the viewer on how to recognize it in songs when it's used to make bad or mediocre singers "good", but it just hammered on the (over)use as an effect by Cher and T-Pain to name a few.

The only thing that could be seen as a bit of an expose is the comment by a producer as recalled by the inventor; "you made my life easier; back then I had to find people who can sing, now I just need to find pretty people". (paraphrased).

The anti-woke crowd didn't pay attention.
29 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Because otherwise they would have noticed that the theme of the episode was communication.

-Iggy forgot a patient to tell about professional distance.

-Helen never told her sister how her father treated her, and what it did to her.

-dr Kao never told her hero how revered dr Kapoor was, and the new head communicated completely wrong with the staff

-Max found out that there is a huge problem in honest communication towards the public about medical stuff

-and yes, a white man cowardly and deliberatly miscommunicated the reason why his daughter got shot, accusing poc. Of course a black doctor who worked his ass off to save that girl took offense. And this is the only thing they take away from it.

It's a good episode, so don't believe the whiners.

Yeehaw Nanny
22 March 2021
This is the old sitcom The Nanny, just put on a horse farm and the different character trades smeared out over more kids. Luckely one kid and two adults save it, otherwise it wouldn't get a passing grade. Oh, and the singing.

And I know that due to covid a studio audience is out of the question, bit the laugh track urks me.

17 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Sometimes things are just a set up to get the protagonist involved. Now it's the death of the son of a congress woman. Turns out, it was nothing political, just your run of the mill psycho Ted Bundy wannabee.

But because people want to be triggered, they don't want to pay attention.

For the rest; decent episode, I just hoped on a bit more exotic explanation then "I was bullied".

Warning: Spoilers
People are whining about shows like this not ignoring the blind spot of domestic terrorism anymore. Those same people whine that procedures aren't followed to a T.

Did these people miss the memo that white, right wing extremism is the biggest domestic thread nowadays? Make up your minds.

Solid episode that rubs the conservatives the wrong way
12 January 2021
Because this episode tackles a real world problem, the conservatives are, again, rubbed the wrong way.

It's a very common thing nowadays that, as soon the series talks real world problems (racism, negligence from the higher echelon for the lower classes, prejudice), the 1 out of 10 ratings fly around like it's an airport.

Please, please, keep an open mind and watch it yourself, and don't believe the whiners who want to live in a fairy world. It's a solid episode that, due to runtime, can't go into the problems as deep as they should, but do what they can, without being too preachy.

We Can Be Heroes (II) (2020)
Some people lost their inner child
27 December 2020
If you look at the people who whine about the story, the quality of acting and whatever, they forget one thing. It's a kids movie, purely made for them, without tongue-in-cheek humour for adults. And it's great for this piece of the market (or when you really want to shut off your brain for an hour and a half). I can imagine kids up to 12ish loving this movie with it's vibrant colours, it's clear story and message and the CGI.

No rating from me, it's not made for me, but I still liked it for the shut-off factor.

Fun movie, but not when you're conservative.
16 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This is a white raven in the invasion-thriller genre. It's got all the tropes, but with interesting camera work, and a 'twist'; not the commies are the agressors, but "the good 'ole boys' from the south.

So, that is why you got a lot of reviews here calling it a 'lefty'/ 'liberal / (anything derogatory left) wet dream. It's because They Can't Be The Bad Guys!

Don't believe then, just watch it for the fun low budget flick it is. And if you can't stand that the bad guys are southerners in this movie, just pretend they are Russians or something like that.

Just the "highlights"...
3 November 2020
It's saddening to see how much can go wrong in a fairly short time.

Even for avid followers of US politics some things will come back in a "oh, damn, yes, that also happened" way, and it's just the highlights of 4 years of utter craziness. The only thing I missed is a deeper dive in the players who enabled the idiocracy, with Mitch McConnel as linchpin.

This will eventually be the starting document for historians on where it all went wrong with the US.

Whiners miss the point.
22 March 2020
First point of whiners; pasing. Most movies nowadays don't take time to introduce their characters. By taking a bit more time, dynamics are a bit better fleshed out. Second point; story. It's a kids movie, especially for young boys. They don't get Shakespearian storytelling. It's catered perfectly to the target audience. Third; humor. See second point.

It's a solid movie with a wholesome message, that will inspire people, young and old.

Oh, and to the biblethumpers; what do you expect from a movie without humans in it?

The location scout was good.
1 March 2020
With the one positive note out of the way, lets get to it.

The 'Angels' are not fun, goofy or thinking on their feet. Too depended on 'bosley' (who's supposed to be a comical relief) and has not one thing in common with either the movies or the original series.

Hell, even the first car chase was a rip-off of Person of Interest's episode where Root got shot.

Stay away from the low scores
4 January 2020
Let's get this out of the way; the 1's are from people who looked at the premisse or the first minute and don't like that 'protect and serve' means every civilian. Or that a lesbian could be a fierce agent. Or that a cop show doesn't follow procedures to a T.

Forget those whiners, watch it yourself. It's entertaining, has a nice pace for the first episode and lays out the lines nice for the rest of the show.

The 8 is based on the first episode, and can change with the following episodes. Normally I don't give a review right away, but the cry babies need a bit of a counter balance.
