Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
Spider-Man Homecoming is the best movie of the summer of 2017
After seeing the film for the 3rd time I re-rated it from an 8 to a 9. I don't give 10 ratings because I believe in the overall calculations of films in IMDb the ones and the tens are disregarded and only those ratings between 2 and 9 matter. Nonetheless Tom Holland makes a perfect Peter Parker/Spiderman. Robert Downey Jr. appeared just enough in the movie to be interesting but not enough to upstage the real star that Holland is. The acting is top notch, so is the screenplay and special effects. I hope "Homecoming" receives the recognition it deserves come Oscar time. It was that good!
The Hundred-Foot Journey (2014)
French Cuisine Meets Indian Cuisine
The Hundred-Foot Journey is the story of Hassan Kadam (Manish Dayal) and his family. They leave their home and restaurant in India and travel Europe in search of a place to open another restaurant. In their travels because of their vehicle breaking down they are forced to stop in a village outside of Paris.
The family is rescued by Margurite, an employee at the local renown French Restaurant owned by Madame Mallory (Helen Mirren). The family has to spend the night in the village until their car is repaired.
Hassan's father notices a vacant building across from Madame Mallory's Restaurant and feels it would make a good place for him to open a restaurant. He inquires about purchasing it despite his family's reluctance to open an Indian Restaurant south of France. however, Papa Kadam insists that once the people taste Indian food they will like it and proceeds with the purchase.
Madame Mallory is not at all pleased by another restaurant opening just across from hers. She brags that the people who owned the structure before had a restaurant and were out of business in six months. She predicts the same will happen with his Indian Restaurant.
Evil tricks are played back and forth between the two restaurant owners. Each trying to cause dismay to the other. When one of Madame Mallory's staff crosses the line a truce between the feuding restaurateurs results. Hassan shows Both Madame Mallory and his father just how great a chef he is.
