The Jungle Book (1967)
Love this film!
Watching this as a much older man then when i first viewed it all those years ago as a young child, I found I was taken back to that magical place again, and I have to admit I cried at the end when Mowgli has to join the humans
It still as funny as I had remembered, and th animation was still amazing to look at, even more vibrant than before.
It's a remarkable film in which even the villains - the snake and tiger - weren't too evil or frightening. Thus, little kids should be okay with this.
The movie;s main song,is "The Bare Necessitites," a catchy tune that is still fun to hear but my favourite song in the whole is the song the snake sings'trust in me' i still know the lyrics to this day, and I just love the lisping character voice.
Go buy it, go rent it and enjoy it.
The Lion King (1994)
I Love it!
The Lion King is a great film and I absolutely love it. Along with a a superb plot, terrific animation, a star cast of voices, there are the lessons that are learned from this film (despite being a slightly rough for the younger children). Like responsibility and honour and most importantly friendship.
I rank this animated film among the great films I have ever seen, even including such films as the jungle book and Pinocchio. Which are a part of the great Disney pantheon. But they really got back their magic with this film though, although they have now reverted to go going back to clichéd films again.
It was part of my childhood and it is a film experience I will always remember and show to my children.
Puritan (2005)
5 Star Fim Noir!
The moment you start watching Puritan you are sucked into a journey of cinematic style and intelligence.
Its patient with you and never lets you know too much, just enough to keep you watching and intrigued.
Film noir plots are things we are all used to, but the possibility of variations and manipulation in these plot lines are infinite, that is why they are so satisfying and watchable, and these variations are completely fulfilled in Puritan with an assured confidence.
I particularly admired the minimalist approach to framing and coverage. Only what is needed is shown and used, a very brave thing to attempt as it could have backfired, but in this case it succeeds in a film that is gratifying in its simplicity.
