King the Land (2023)

Fun, silly and an instant kdrama classic!
9 August 2023
If you've never seen a kdrama before then you can't fully appreciate how wonderful this show is. It's an instant kdrama classic, follows the usual tropes but in a fun way that you'll definitely enjoy! This one's truly for the seasoned kdrama fan. There's so many funny moments that I really didn't expect from this, it's such a good time!

The lead actors are hilarious and yoona is perfect as always.

Expect silly moments, typical kdrama tropes but in a modernised way. This truly is a feel good show and will scratch that kdrama itch. Don't listen to the review bombers, it was clearly strategic for whatever reason.

Oppenheimer (I) (2023)
10/10
Fast paced, cinematic, beautiful.
29 July 2023
"Wow" - My exact sentiment as soon as the credits rolled. Nolan is truly a master film maker, this movie truly was an experience to be had only in the cinema.

Oppenheimer really is a biopic, and anyone expecting a war movie or some kind of action packed film is sorely mistaken. This is an insight into the incredible mind of a man tasked with a truly ardous dilemma or life and death.

It's easy on the eyes, food for thought and no doubt will be hailed as a timeless classic. Cillian is so brilliant in this role, I couldn't praise him any higher, he deserves an award for this portrayal, easily.

For a 3 hour long movie, it was fast paced and at no point was I bored.

Absolutely awful!
12 April 2023
Where to even start... The CGI was absolutely hilarious, the use of a green screen has never been more obvious. All creatures looked straight out of a PS2 video game, the costume design straight out of the 90s... How did they make it this bad? As if that wasn't enough, Humpty Dumpty made an appearance??

Definitely give this one miss, I don't know what the creators were thinking. It's definitely a plot filler for the MCU, a stop gap for all the other movies and series that are coming out.

There really were no saving graces in this movie, not even mild comic relief could save it. Try harder next time marvel.

Goes nowhere

Warning: Spoilers
Nothing happens.. you keep expecting there to be some kind of escalation but it never comes. Like the missing girl, what was the significance of that other than to pose as a threat of what she could become?

I was expecting a murder of some kind, it definitely sets up for that. But alas, no drama.

Anna is a great actress but not even she could save this slow movie. I'd recommend you skip this one.

One note, utterly depressing with no real point? I understand it's sensitive material, but the storyline definitely needed a lot of work. Give us some excitement! For those who said the ending is great... did we watch the same movie?

Anticlimactic

Good start, but leads to absolutely nothing. No tension build, no satisfying ending. It had potential but that was completely lost on the storyline. The kid is a really good actor, that's about the only positive.

The mystery of the first few scenes could've led somewhere very interesting, however the story seemed to get lost on itself. There was no real reason or explanation as to how or why any of the events were happening.

I'd say give this one a miss, it definitely felt like a big waste of time. It would've been a lot better as a horror or thriller at least. This barely counts as "mystery".

A heist movie at best

This is a boring, confusing instalment of a once beloved franchise. There's barely any dinosaur scenes? Not substantial, edge of your seat, cinematic dinosaur scenes that we've come to love. Very boring, no real storyline.

Was this made in 2004??

Absolutely horrific in all the worst ways. Terrible dialogue, sub-par acting from the majority of the cast, not to mention cheap cinematography from the set design to general direction.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that this famous tweet thread had been made into a movie because we were all thinking it, this was too cinematic to be real life! Highly enjoyable, light hearted movie with serious undertones and theme.

Hot garbage
31 July 2021
Absolute trash. I had to stop watching 30 mins into the movie because it was horrific, and not in the way you'd expect a horror movie to be. Isn't like any of the other purge movies, again, in a bad sense. Terrible acting, bad story, seems super low budget like a B movie.

Absolutely loved this movie. It gave just enough back story, and kept enough suspense that it flowed excellently. If you like vampires and high suspense thrillers then this is for you.

Highly enjoyable

Very good movie! I really enjoyed the storyline/plot, it really highlights the dangers of social media/manipulation. It has good twists, suspense.. all great considering its filmed from the perspective of a computer screen!

Horrific, and not in the way that you'd want it to be.

Warning: Spoilers
This is quite possibly the WORST edited movie to ever exist. So many cuts, its so choppy that it feels like each scene ends before it fully develops. The story is so weak and not compelling at all, think Amityville horror but very diluted.

Amandas worst performance of her career, and the main guy is a terrible actor. Natalia dyers character was so pointless and so random that it wouldnt have mattered if she was in it or not.

The kid is barely in it too, which i found very weird, as you find yourself not really caring about that character either.

The husband isn't a compelling villain at all, we have no idea what really drives him to be a terrible person, he just randomly does bad things with no rhyme or reason. If i were to sum this movie up in three words it would be: random, anti-climatic and boring.

are they serious?
11 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I have no idea why they thought this would be a good idea to green light... it looks so cheap and rushed, 80% of the scenes are on FaceTime or him riding a bike. They're definitely just trying to make bank on the fact we're in a pandemic and they can push the fear narrative. The villain had no real motive, there was no tension at all, and all the characters were dumb. We never get to see these "quarantine camps", never got to see the progression of the virus, and never saw anything that was truly scary or fear inducing in the slightest. Give this one a very big miss.
