Okay...
31 December 2004
This is not a bad film, just not a great film. The first was a lot better. There were only a few times I laughed out loud. I enjoyed the cast, except of course for Julia Roberts. If they bother making another movie, I hope they write a better script. If they worked on the story a bit more it probably would have been a better film. I was a little bothered that Bernie Mac and Carl Reiner didn't have bigger roles considering they were really good in the first movie. Considering the amount of talent in a movie like this, I would have hoped that this would have been a lot more fun than it was. If you're going to see this, make certain you don't pay full price. I give it a 5 out of 10.

Very cool...
25 August 2004
I was actually very pleased with this film, even though I basically knew what was going to happen without reading the comics. That being said, I enjoyed every minute of it. I also totally disagree with all of the anti-director speeches and the rating issue. HE DID A GREAT JOB!! GET OVER IT!! I don't know why it would make ANY difference what the rating is, as long as the movie is good. WHICH IT WAS!! I was very impressed with the costumes in particular, as well as the cast. The Predators and the Aliens looked great without the CGI being used for every last effect. Having said that, I don't necessarily think I would own it, but I think it was a great film on its own. I definitely recommend this movie at any price and give it a 9 out of 10.

AWFUL!!!
16 August 2004
I just watched this waste of time on in demand, and I can't for the life of me figure out why this was ever made. Perhaps the salary was that good, or maybe both Gene Hackman and Ray Romano were duped into believing this was something else besides what it was. Hey Ray, try doing something else like staying on tv, since you can only act like Ray Barone. Here's a tip, Steve Martin doesn't always say "We are 2 wild and crazy guys" in EVERYTHING he does. Gene Hackman, you can do a lot better than this and you have! Try something worthwhile next time for crying out loud! I'm so glad I didn't pay full price. Skip it and you haven't missed anything. I give this movie gets a 0 out of 10. TOTAL GARBAGE!!

Warning: Spoilers
I unfortunately sat through this waste of time today on In Demand. I wish I hadn't demanded it. This is a classic example of good cast, bad script. It wasn't just bad, I mean this movie was lame with a capital L. There wasn't one time I laughed or even thought "Gee didn't see THAT coming!" Do yourself a favor and skip this worthless piece of garbage with Ray Romano acting just like Ray Barone. POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT! Would you believe that in this movie the words "Holy crap!" are said no differently than in his own show, only this time Peter Boyle isn't the one saying it. Also, there is a joke about his nose just like in his show. Note to Ray Romano, try acting like someone different next time and writing new jokes. It worked for Steve Martin didn't it? Not EVERY movie he did included the words "We are two wild and crazy guys." Anyway, don't bother with this one.

I give it a 0 out of 10. TOTAL GARBAGE!

Collateral (2004)
Villains rule!!...
10 August 2004
and Tom Cruise really delivers. Michael Mann has always been one of my favorite directors, so when I heard that Tom Cruise was teaming up with him I knew I had to see this one. Honestly, it was hard to actually root for the good guys in this one, and I don't normally do that, it's just that the villain was actually intelligent instead of stupid. Having been a fan of Heat, The Insider, and especially Manhunter, I was pretty sure what I was getting myself into. I give this movie a 9 out of 10. I don't know that I would own it when it comes out on DVD, but, I recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Tom Cruise or especially Michael Mann. A must see at any price!!!

I, Robot (2004)
Okay...
19 July 2004
I was only somewhat impressed with this particular film. I liked the special effects, the cast was good, the story was fine. For some reason, I kept losing interest as it seemed to drag on and on about essentially nothing. If it hadn't been for Will Smith, Bridget Moynahan, and Bruce Greenwood, (who always plays a good jerk), I probably wouldn't have cared as much. Actors, by the way, are not my number one reason to watch a movie, it always comes down to the story first and foremost, and fortunately that was okay. Since I wasn't really looking forward to this movie, it should come as no surprise that I only give it a 5 out of 10. Whatever you do, don't pay full price for this one.

Spider-Man 2 (2004)
FANTASTIC!!!
2 July 2004
While I have always liked how these comic books are adapted into films, I really enjoyed the story in this one more than the comic book aspect of the film. Roger Ebert said it best, "This is a superhero movie for people who don't like superhero movies." There is so much depth to the characters and storytelling, especially the personal problems Peter Parker has to deal with. I liked this movie just as much as the last one, and I recommend this at any price, which means I give it a 10+ on a scale of 1 to 10. This is yet another movie I will definitely own. I am very excited about the next movie and can't wait until it's released.

Fun, but...
29 June 2004
It's hard to watch this without thinking of all the reasons things like this just couldn't happen. (For more information, consult the goofs and trivia section and you will see what I am talking about.) I enjoyed the special effects, the actors they chose, and the directing was just fine too. My personal feeling was that after the movie was over it was just okay. I wasn't depressed with any one thing, it just didn't impress me as much as say, Independence Day, which was by the same director and was a great movie as long as you didn't think about the plot. I would strongly advise not to pay full price for this one. I saw it for free and I'm glad I did. I hope his next film is a little better than this one. Oh, by the way, the girls were really cute. I give this film a 5 out of 10.

I saw this movie and I still feel the same way about this one. It's just way too "Disney" for me. That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the film, it just means I liked it as much as the other ones. The kids are doing a great job as usual. I also really enjoyed the actor they chose to play Dumbledore, even though he really didn't sound like him. However, I still liked the way Richard Harris played him best. I hope they decide to keep the same cast for the rest of the movies, but, if they do change certain actors, I understand that too. I recommend this film for those who have already seen the rest. I am looking forward to the next one coming out next year. I give this one a 5 out of 10.

Shrek 2 (2004)
Good movie...
19 May 2004
I just saw this before everyone else ruined it for me, and I'm glad. This was a very good sequel. When I heard they were going to make a sequel, my wife was more interested in it than I was, but, I have to admit it was worth watching. For instance, I was glad they chose John Cleese to play the king. He has always been my favorite in the Monty Python clan. Julie Andrews played the queen, which fit her like a glove. Puss-In-Boots was played by Antonio Banderes, and he was by far the scene stealer. Of course it was good to see Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers again. I liked this about as much as I liked Finding Nemo. Since I rate animations on a scale of 1 to 5 I give this movie a 3.

Troy (2004)
Exciting!!!
15 May 2004
Very good adaptation of the Iliad by Homer. I was very impressed with the battle scenes and the cast. It was funny how many of these actors already worked with each other in other films. For example, Eric Bana and Orlando Bloom were in Black Hawk Down, and Sean Bean and Orlando Bloom were in The Fellowship Of The Ring. I couldn't help but notice how Orlando Bloom used a bow and arrow the exact same way as in LOTR. My only complaint about the film was that some of the actors not mentioned above overacted way too much. That aside, the special effects were fantastic, and the direction was very good. Go see it at any price, you won't be disappointed. I give it a 7 out of 10.

Scary Movie 3 (2003)
Very funny...
15 May 2004
I really enjoyed this movie almost more than the other 2 because it was directed by David Zucker of Airplane! fame. It also featured Leslie Nielson, 1 of my other favorite actors. I have never really been much for gross out humor, which this series is known for, but I enjoyed this particular sequel. Jenny McCarthy was my personal favorite cameo. Charlie Sheen was good as the character Mel Gibson portrayed in "Signs". I'm also glad they made fun of M. Night Shylaman whom I can't stand. It was nice to see that they kept Anna Farris for all 3 of the movies rather than create a whole new cast of characters. With any luck David Zucker will make more movies in this series. I give this movie a 7 out of 10 so go see it at any price.

Van Helsing (2004)
Lots of fun...
10 May 2004
Although there were a number of flaws, which I won't talk about, I actually enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. First off, the special effects were great, the musical score was fantastic, and the acting was good. The story was a little too much. I think they should have saved some of those characters for other movies like they would with a superhero movie. For example, in Batman the only villain was the Joker. Not most of the villains he faces. I think they should have changed a few things about the actual character of Van Helsing, (his age, reputation, etc.), and perhaps the amount of time they would take between parts of the story. I loved Kate Beckensale in this role, Hugh Jackman was a good choice for Van Helsing, and Richard Roxburg whom I haven't seen since Mission Impossible II was a good Dracula. I give this movie a 7 out of 10. Go see it at any price.

The Punisher (2004)
John Travolta Sucks...
28 April 2004
But this movie was great! I love how this wasn't just another revenge movie, but a real study into the mind of a man who had REAL feelings. The comic book character was always one of my favorites in the Marvel Universe. Although I am not familiar with Thomas Jane, I am glad that they selected him for this role, because he fits like a glove. If they decide on a sequel, which I hope they do, I would like to see a possible fight with Bullseye, but I heard they will not cross characters over into other genres. Oh well, maybe they can break the rules just this once. If not, I am still looking forward to the next one. I give this film a 9 out of 10. Not quite a must own, but definitely worth watching at any price.

19 April 2004
I have seen the first film and I feel the same about this one. Not really a lot to it. Just another movie to watch as far as I'm concerned. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't that great either. I find myself saying the same thing about this movie that I said about the last. It's just way too Disney for me. I am not saying I am not looking forward to the next movie, because I am. My feeling is the context of the film seems to drag on, and instead of being really excited of what might happen next, I find myself not being surprised at what happens at all. I still like the overall look of the film, the actors are good, the direction and the special effects are good, but, I am only just okay with this whole genre of films. I give it a 5 out of 10. Maybe renting it would be an even better idea.

15 April 2004
There isn't much about this film to enjoy. I was hoping it would be a lot funnier than it was, but I just didn't laugh at anything except Kevin Pollack's character who was hard to understand most of the time. I had no problem with the cast, I enjoyed all of their performances. Especially Kevin Pollack and Natasha Henstridge who really made the film at least somewhat watchable. If only Bruce Willis could have had more funny lines, or Matthew Perry been a little funnier, or if Amanda Peet...wait there's nothing wrong with her. Anyway, I can only recommend this to someone who likes the cast but not necessarily the story, otherwise, this movie gets a 5 out of 10 because they did try...to some degree.

JINKIES!!
27 March 2004
This was a lot of fun, another great version of the old cartoon favorite. I really enjoy how much work is put into these adaptations of cartoons. Matthew Lillard as Shaggy is as always a favorite of mine, but, in this particular movie, Velma was just about as good. Plus as an added bonus, she actually looked hot for the first time. It was also good to see Seth Green in a very different role than in his previous works. Hats off to Sarah Michelle Gellar for another great performance as Daphne. I also enjoyed seeing Peter Boyle, who of course was in Young Frankenstein as the monster. He always works in these types of films. I give this film a 7 out of 10. See this at any price!

Runaway Jury (2003)
Too much preaching
6 March 2004
I knew the book was about the tobacco industry and the movie was about gun control, but I thought maybe it would be fun to watch anyway. BOY WAS I WRONG! I should have expected this would be how everyone who owns a gun is liable for the death of everyone around them. I have no problem with the cast or crew, I just don't appreciate that this is yet another attempt to take our civil rights away from us. The NRA or any other organization NEVER teaches gun manufacturers or dealers to kill people. In fact, they teach safety above all else, including police officers. I can't recommend this to anyone unless they want to have all of their civil liberties taken away, or they just want to be bullied with no way of fighting back. Had it not been for a gun, my mom would have been raped or killed on at least 6 occasions I can think of at this moment. I give it a 0 out of 10. Think I'll go listen to "Don't Let 'Em Take Your Gun" by Grand Funk Railroad ONE MORE TIME!

Yawn!
5 March 2004
If only they added a few more jokes I might have been a little more enthusiastic about this film, but sadly, it just wasn't that funny at all. This is now the second time I have seen Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson together and unfortunately, it just doesn't seem to work out. Maybe it's the writing because I do like both of them individually, just not together in a movie. When they were presenting at the Academy Award show they were a LOT funnier than in this movie and that was free. Hopefully, they will do something actually funny next time around. As Edison Carter stated in Max Headroom, "God I hate waiting for something to happen." Make sure you DON'T pay full price to see this one. I give it a 3 out of 10 for trying to be funny, the sound track and the babes.

This movie was so bad I had to watch something else so I could actually be entertained. Absolutely NOTHING happened for quite a while and the movie isn't very long. It had some of the worst acting I have seen since Hayden Christensen in Attack Of The Clones. Since this IS the same person who directed THE BROWN BUNNY and placed a curse on Roger Ebert, what was I supposed to expect? I am now convinced that he should be put in an institution of some kind if he gets that irate that people don't like his work. He needs to GET A LIFE and realize that people have opinions. Find something else to rent! I suppose if you have to go to sleep it might help some of you who are insomniacs. This should be banned in all countries, especially this one. I give it a 0 out of 10.

Powerful!
3 March 2004
I have never seen such a graphic portrayal of the passion play in my life! After having seen several versions of what happened to Christ, this has to be by far the most accurate. The subtitles were not a distraction, in fact, they really added to the film, and I prefer not to read subtitles. I would warn both believers and non-believers it is a very harsh portrayal of the suffering and death of Jesus. Parents should decide for themselves whether or not to bring your kids to this movie. I personally would not because it could be too much for them. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give it a 10. I can't give it a 10+ because I could NEVER own this movie. It is too hard for me to watch this anymore than once. God bless you Mel Gibson for doing a remarkable job.

not great...
3 March 2004
But not bad either. Austin Powers it's not, but I don't think that was the idea behind this project. First of all, I like Rowan Atkinson very much, so, whether or not I heard nothing but bad comments, I had to see this movie. I thought it was funny only in certain areas. It certainly wasn't anything compared to Austin Powers, or any other spoof of spy movies past or present. I'm just sorry it wasn't funnier than it was. I don't know why Rowan Atkinson, who has been in much better roles, especially Blackadder and even Mr.Bean which is okay but not that great either, did this. He is smarter than this. I actually liked him more in Scooby-Doo. I just think this could have been a lot funnier if they spent more time writing a better story, and less time goofing around with the script. I give it a 5 out of 10.

Finding Nemo (2003)
good...
3 March 2004
For an animation. I usually don't care for these types of films because they only go so far before I lose interest. This film was an exception. Pixar did a great job of keeping me interested. They had a very good cast, especially Albert Brooks and Brad Garrett. Hopefully Pixar will continue producing better movies as time goes by. It would be nice to see another animation like this one come out. Now that Pixar has left Disney, maybe they will have even more control over what they will do next. Anybody interested in Finding Nemo 2? If they have the right type of story, it would be fun to see a sequel of this made. Assuming, of course, they use the same cast again.

Fun...
3 March 2004
I have to say I really enjoyed this film. Although I was informed that it was very predictable I was pleasantly surprised how much fun it was. There were a lot of action scenes, and not a whole lot of problems that I saw with the movie. As usual, Samuel L. Jackson was a good choice for playing a cop. Personally, I didn't really care for Colin Farrell, they should have picked someone else like maybe Johnny Depp. Perhaps, if there is a sequel, they will consider other actors besides him. At any rate, watch this movie anyway, you will not be sorry. Just don't go into it expecting a great movie. My advice is to see the movie if for nothing else, the action scenes. I give it a 7 out of 10.

What a great movie! I couldn't wait for this to come out. Mike Myers has done it again. If you have a chance, see this movie at any price. It's definitely worth it if you are a fan of the other 2 films. I give it a 10+ which means it is a must-own. Oh, by the way, that Foxy Cleopatra is a WHOLE LOT OF WOMAN!! Don't miss it!
