The Day After Tomorrow (2004)
Is this another Michael Moore flick?
For the love of humanity!
Where do I start? Okay lets see:
1) Global Warming 2) A clueless, mean "vice president" that looks like Dick Cheney 3) An absent "President" that looks like George Bush 4) The lead character drives an electric car 5) Americans "illegally immigrate" to Mexico (reverse imigration) 6) Mention of how the US didn't sign the Kyoto Treaty (causing the disaster) 7) Vice President says its okay to let millions dies north of "Freeze Line" 8) too many other examples to count.
I would swear that that the DNC, Michael Moore, Sierra Club, Earth First and Greenpeace all got together to make a disaster flick! The thinly disguised pockshots at republicans and the current administration are not to be missed!
America bashing at its best! WE caused the disaster that affected the world and now we have to immigrate to Third World countries to escape our "stupidity" thereby showing us that OUR immigration policies were always wrong! For the right-wingers there are a few shots worth your while in this flick. Silly liberals falling into ice crevices, getting frozen solid because they don't have enough sense to go inside and warm up, DNC members trying to walk (not drive or fly) south to escape a huge (fast-moving) ice storm, etc.
I normally try and keep politics out of my movie comments but this movie is so blatant with it that it just can't go unsaid.
If your a shrub-hugger or confirmed liberal then this is your "feel-good" movie of the year!
The special effects were good but if your a real thinking person, there is little here for you to appreciate.

A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001)
A Great Film, but only if you like to think...
This was a great movie! But only if you care to actually think while you watch. Many movie-goers want to be spoon-fed the storyline, this movie actually makes you think about the role humanity plays in its own destiny.
Many have said the multiple endings were "added on", but if you look at the original Kubrick screenplay (what was completed), they are not seperate endings, but rather a progression of thought, start-to-end.
Spielberg took some liberties with the touchy-feely side of the movie, but never varied from the original story line that Kubrick wrote. This movie is a trilogy, written in three parts, presented as the same.
In a nutshell, if you don't understand, or can't "figure out" the movie, then stick to less demanding fare like "Scoobie Doo" or the like. On the other hand, if you are a "thinker" when you watch a movie, then this one is definitely for you.

Absolutely Horrible
This Japanese, Star-Wars rip-off is hysterical! My 13 year-old son and myself watched it on a Saturday morning and were falling on the floor laughing at the horrible special effects. The special effects included the very worst in plastic model building and in some scenes, you can see the rubber peel away (revealing hair) on the monsters. Pay attention and don't miss the exploding bad guy in the end! Better yet, skip this movie and doing something much more fun, like stick bamboo splinters under your fingernails... Your time will be much better spent.

Dear God, please spare me!
This is, by far, and without a doubt, the absolute worst movie I have ever seen. Utterly devoid of any plot, acting talent or, dare I say, a script. It is horrible to a degree unknown in modern filmaking. For the love of humanity, if you value all that is good and right with the world, please do not see this, not even at 3am for free.
