Over the Moon (2020)

I cried like a baby
2 December 2020
There were some areas where the characters could have been developed more (because they were interesting, but I feel like we didn't get enough screen time with any of them to care enough, idk), but the main character is someone I really connected with for some reason? Because oh my god this movie hit all of the emotions for me. I cried at the beginning, I cried in the middle, and I cried at the end.

This movie tackles things like grief and dealing with the loss of a loved one, loneliness, and love. The music was fun and the animation was beautiful. As an asian person I loved seeing an all asian cast and I enjoyed the representation! If I had grown up with more stories like this it would have been great. I'm glad my brother gets to see things like this.

It's a bit cheesy and some of the metaphors are very very obvious and sort of shoved into your face, but there are elements that are more subtle as well, so I feel like it's a healthy balance.

This movie is absolutely beautiful, sad at times, has wonderful music, and I would definitely rewatch it again. I really really enjoyed it. It's a good movie for people of any age, and it has something good to offer for everybody.

Me Before You (2016)

Please don't take this personally

Warning: Spoilers
Coming from the perspective of a disabled person, I hated it. I feel like it's easy for a random Ableist person to watch it and decide that if they were disabled in the way William is that they wouldn't want to live, either, or that their life wouldn't be worth living. But William's life is one worth living and the ending just really disappointed me when he decided it wasn't. I know that that's not how most of the people here interpreted the movie but it just didn't sit well with me. It's not necessarily a Bad Movie, I just personally did not like it.

A childhood favorite for me

The cinematography, the writing, emotions, the characters, the actors, everything. This movie has it all. I still cry when I watch it. It's a beautiful movie that uses elements of fantasy and writing and dialogue that sound like poetry to show how a little girl conceptualizes big emotions in a big big world. You'll either love it or you won't, but chances are that you'll love it. Definitely worth several watches.

I loved this movie!

Don't listen to the negative reviews, this was a really nice movie. The main protagonist, who I feel was developed well as an interesting and complex character (her feelings and background and thoughts and motivations are acted very nicely and hinted at throughout the movie instead of it being directly told to the audience, very much 'show not tell'). The story and technology throughout are super interesting and the AI character is as well and his arc brings up a lot of cool concepts.

There's a bit of potential the movie had (concepts, characters) that I feel could have been developed or played with more but overall I really enjoyed watching this! The pacing was also nice so if you don't want a movie that's too slow or too confusedly fast then this is the movie for you!

I'm sorry y'all

I'm not even in the fandom but you guys deserved better. Most of you are also way more talented and creative than anyone who's responsible for this sorry excuse of an ending. May I offer you cookies and memes?
