Season of the Witch (2011)
Like Watching Paint Dry!
I knew this movie was going to be generic when I found out that ron perlman was in it. I can only stomach his bad acting when he is in full-dress makeup, like in Beauty and the Beast, and Hell-Boy.
However, I was up late one night, and with so few really good movies these day, I had run out of good movies to watch. So, I decided what the heck. At the very least it will be good for a laugh ...but it wasn't even good for that!
Well, I almost fell asleep several times throughout the movie, because it was so hideously boring. In fact, it was much akin to watching paint dry. As always, I wish I had listened to my instincts!!
Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole (2010)
A bit disappointing
I have to say that after hearing all the raves and hype about this movie, it really turned out to be a real disappointment for me. However I am a free-thinker that does not follow the usual crowd.
Please don't get me wrong, it was cute little movie, if you are 5 years old. If I had to rate this movie, I would say that it is in the same league as one of the older animated films. Such as the old Princess and the Swan movie. However i do not believe that it stands up to the movies it has been previously compared to, like "The Last Airbender", or "The Brother's Grimm".
I think if I had not heard all the raves and hype, I would not have expected so much, and would have been able to enjoy the movie more. However, when you are waiting for the really good part to come, and the end of the movie has arrived, and you still haven't found it. Well, it just ruins the movie, doesn't it.
I think this is a terrific little movie for very small children ages 3- 6. For them it may certainly be a little adventure. However, please see the movie and judge it for yourself. Every one has different standards when it comes to movies, and all that really matters is whether YOU enjoy it.
Shutter Island (2010)
Shutter Island ...the truth
This movie was absolute rubbish, from start to finish. The trailers and all the hype concerning this movie, lead the public to believe that it would be worth seeing. With which, I firmly disagree. I could tell you all the reasons, but quite frankly I feel I have wasted enough time on this movie by even watching it. I will tell you that the movie was predictable, depressing, and in very bad taste. It reminded me of one of those old black & white foreign flicks that wreak of morbidity and extremely bad taste. If you like that sort of thing, then by all means go see it. However, if you do not enjoy wasting your time on rubbish flicks, then don't waste your time on this one. I have always personally liked Leonardo, but I think I must chalk this one down as one of his worst acting role ever. Sorry Leo, just giving it to you straight. Of course there will always be someone of notoriety who will swear that the flick is fantastic. Let's be honest. There will be a lot of people that will go along with that. Simply because they think it impresses people to agree with someone of importance. However, people that are easily led around by their noses, rarely make any impressions ...other than being moronic idiots that cannot think for themselves. Needless-to say, I have this extremely annoying habit of thinking for myself, and this movie was absolute rubbish, from start to finish, no matter how many expert reviews to the contrary. Of course, you can always go see it for yourself. If you have time to waste ...why not. Now, I must apologize for wasting your time, as well as my own, to write this ridiculously lengthy way to say the movie was rubbish. However, IMDb does not allow us to just write a 'few' words. If a review does not contain enough words, then you will be prohibited from submitting it. Personally, I would have been quite happy with just saying, 'Shutter Island was Rubbish, from start to finish.' Thank you for reading my review, and have a nice day.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009)
Absolute Rubbish! They changed several parts from the actual book! Disappointing!
I have purchased all the Harry Potter movies thus far; however, this one I will not bother to purchase. It is not worthy of my collection. Harry Potter followers waited a long time for this particular movie. We all know that there was trouble with production, as well as fatalities, and this is what we get for our wait?! Absolute Rubbish!
I believe a number of people mentioned that the book was better, and that they left a lot of bit out of the movie. If only that were the worst thing they did. Sometimes it is necessary to cut certain parts out, as and entire book could end up making one very long movie. So that I understand. However, changing the content of the actual book/ story, was what murdered this movie for me. The producers of this movie actually did exactly that. They changed part of the actual book. I didn't know that they could do that. Perhaps the writer gave them permission, but it was a huge mistake.
Having said that, even if you had not read the book, the movie was total rubbish. The worst part for me, was the extra bits they threw in that were not in the book, just so they could give the retarded & ugly Helen Carter more parts in the movie. Please do not misunderstand me. Bellatrix from the book is a fascinating woman. I cannot say the same about Helena Carter, who is absolutely grotesque in every way.
In the book, the Weasley's house never burned down, and the idiot character Bellatrix was no where near the Weasley's house at Christmas break ...or any other time for that matter! Neither was Bellatrix present at Hogwarts when the Malfoy let the Death Eaters in through the cabinet, or any other time for that matter! It was bad enough having her in the previous film, but to make-up parts that were not in the book, just to give the annoying woman extra parts was totally unforgivable!!! In fact, the only part that the character Bellatrix had in the entire book, was the part when her and her sister visited Snape at his home. And, even that part was changed from the book.
Indeed, so many parts were changed from the actual book in this movie, that I can honestly say that they took very little from the actual book to put this movie together. Please, do not pay to watch this movie. It will be a total waste of your money. On the other hand, if you are an air-head who like any kind of action film, even if they have no rhythm or reason, then by all means go for it. :-) In truth, that is the only sort of person that could enjoy this movie! If you have a bit of imagination, the money is burning a hole in your pocket, then do yourself a favor and buy the book instead. It is so much better, and I wager your imagination can do a great deal better than the idiot producer/ directors of this movie!
The only part of the whole movie that I quite enjoyed, was the part when Ronald Weasley thought that Harry had slipped him some of his luck potion, followed by some terrific moves in their Quidditch match. They even managed to ruin Harry and Ginny's first kiss! Not to mention, it was Hermoine that saw Harry, when he pretended to slip Ron the luck potion, not Luna. Also, it was Tonks that found Harry on the train after Malfoy froze him and broke his nose, not Luna with her goofy spectrespecs. It was Tonks that fixed Harry's broken nose with the Episky charm, not Luna. In fact, Tonks was was more of a main character in this book, and she was barely in the movie.
All in all, it was the most disappointing, and the worst of the Harry Potter movies thus far. To the producers ...it was not worth the wait!!! I am certain that many Harry Potter fans agree with me, when I say, I sincerely hope that they get a different producer/ director for the Deathly Hallows. The plan is to split the book into 2 movies, because it is such a long book with a great deal more content than previous Potter books. So, come on people! They are suppose to be the last of the Harry Potter movies. Don't disappoint us by giving us more of this sort of rubbish! Having said that, it will be worth it to see Molly Weasley kill Helena ...I mean Bellatrix. :-) That is, if the idiot producers/ directors do not decide to cut that part of the book out as well ...or worse ...change it!
Seven Pounds (2008)
Seven Pounds - A depressing movie
What is up with Will Smith lately? Is he depressed/ suicidal? It seems that all his movies lately, he is an extremely depressed person. "I Legend", "Hancock", and now "Seven Pounds"! At this rate, I am not sure I want to watch any more of his movies. Please, someone tell him we are tired of seeing him so depressed. This movie was not in any way enjoyable for me. It was extremely depressing. Icertainly hope it does not encourage people with mental health problems to go out and commit suicide! It certainly has that potential.
I realize that I am just one person, and that many people will disagree with me, but this is not the sort of movies the world needs right now. So Will, if you are reading this comment, please stop making these depressing movies. As an actor, I think Will Smith has some great potential, but feel it is lost on these types of movies. I certainly hope that his personal life is a lot happier, or this could all end very badly for him and his family. Sorry, just being honest.
Terminator Salvation (2009)
Brits cast as American icons?! How Disappointing!
Where does this ridiculous British invasion going to end?! You have a British woman playing Sarah Connor on the Sarah Connor Chronicles. I guess it was only a matter of time before you gave the part of John Connor to a Brit as well! You ruined the new Batman movie with this horrid Brit with a lisp, and now you cast him as John Connor in the terminator! Excuse me, but are Sarah & John Connor British or American!? Because the people that are portraying them are certainly not American. Excuse me, for wanting my movies to be realistic! As far as I am concerned the movie makers are taking this British invasion rubbish a bit too far. For me, the worst part is not that Chritian Bale is British, although it is a fair point. The worst is Christian Bale himself. The guy is gross, he has a lisp, and is one of the worst actors I have ever seen in my lifetime. I don't get it. Was it a low budget movie ..or what?! Is the public so easily brainwashed?! Someone says, "oh, he's cute", and no one can think for themselves anymore? The guy is horrid! So, okay, suppose we forget that he is a Brit playing the role of an American icon. What does this say about America. We do not have an American good enough to fill the role of the American icon John Connor that supposedly saves the world? So, we get some hideous Brit with a lisp to fill the part? Well, I have lived abroad for some years now, yearning to be back home in America. But if this is what America has become, then I am not sure I ever want to go home. What's next? Hey, why not get some Brit to play the part of John Wayne! We certainly cannot find an American to fit the bill! Wake up people! Smell the coffee, before the Brits take over everything, and there is nothing truly American left! Recently someone told me about a really good series that was running in America, called Moonlight. So, I checked it out. And guess what? The lead female was a Brit playing an American reporter. Well, I guess they couldn't find an American actress good enough for that part either! Seems like everywhere I turn, there is a Brit playing the part of an American. Have we run out of American Actresses/ Actors?! Am I the only one that takes offense to this?! Am I the only one that can see how bad this makes America look?! Well, all I can say is ..I certainly hope not. Have I watched the movie ...you couldn't pay me enough. I do not have to watch it to know it's bad. :-) Chritian Bale is hideous, and a poor excuse for an actor.
Twilight (2008)
Excellent storyline.
Once again, a Brit cast in the lead role in an American movie about Americans. However, this is one of the times when it actually works. Robert Pattison is the brilliant new young British actor that was cast in the role of Cedric Digory in the Harry Potter movies. However, his talent was lost in that role. In the movie "Twilight", Pattison was able to spread his wings and fly. He was superb in the role. I wish I could say more, but I would not wish to spoil the movie for first time watchers. What I can say, is that it was a refreshing new direction for vampire movies, and hope there will be more like it in future. It would be interesting to see a part 2, or even a series. However, the true essence of films are sometimes lost in sequels or in a series, like the disaster they made with the Blade TV series. If they do make a sequel or series from this movie, I sincerely hope they do not ruin the original storyline. If you have not already seen this movie, then you are missing a excellent movie. Although with most movies, I, personally, always think they could have been so much better. In the storyline of "Twilight", I would only have made one improvement, but I cannot say without spoiling the movie. Perhaps you will be able to guess what it would have been. :-)
Update: I just checked, and apparently the sequel is already in production, and judging from what I read, they already plan to do exactly what I feared ...ruin the original storyline. What I read was so very disappointing, so I will give it a pass. Pity, it could have been so much better.
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2008)
A Britsh woman portraying an American Mother - Rubbish!
(May contain spoilers, but the series doesn't need any help in that department. As it spoils itself.)I think the most important issue here, is the fact that Lena Headey is British, not American. Which is very confusing, and unrealistic, because I was under the impression that Sarah Conner was American?! Do we not have any American actresses that fit the profile?
There is absolutely nothing exceptional about this British actress, so what was the point in casting her to play THE American Mom? Why choose a Brit to play an American Mother raising her son to be a world leader. Not only is she not American, but she is also not old enough to be a mother of a 20 year old boy. Granted, she does look old enough!
The first episode with this British actress in it, left a bad taste in my mouth. More and more we are putting British actors in the place of Americans, and vise versa. What is that all about?! Having lived in both countries, I can tell you that Brits and Americans are as much alike as monkeys and tigers. The lifestyles between our two cultures are as different as night and day. To have one attempt to portray the other, is a bit like getting dog to play a zebra. Either way, British, or not, the woman so does not fit the part of an American Mom!
I have been living in the UK for the past decade, but I was born in the USA, and lived there for forty-some years before living abroad. So, perhaps I am wrong, and American Moms do look and dress like British street-walkers now ...but I highly doubt it! Ms. Headey's portrayal of the American Mother of the world's savior John Conner, is both unrealistic, and as out of place as you can get.
Now, I am not one to prejudge anything, so I watched a number of episodes in the hopes that it would turn into a half way decent show despite the selection for the role of Sarah Conner. To my great disappointment, it has become worse with each episode. The script writer must be having some sort of contest concerning which they can make seem more hideously stupid ...Sarah or John?! Nonetheless, it is a blessing that the fate of the world is not in their hands in real life. We would be in real trouble if it were!! Not only do the script writer make the characters seem really stupid, but their stupidity seems to grow with each new episode!
There is a lot more I could say, about this series. Like this Cameron, who seems to be stronger than all the big male terminators. However, I think I have made the most important points concerning this awful excuse for a series. The only good part about it, is the more gorgeous than ever, Brian Austin Green. I had stopped watching the series, until they added him. :-) Nevertheless, there must be a better series for this American icon, than to play second fiddle to a British actress with an ugly mug!
All we can hope, is that the producers come to their senses. After all, there are plenty of American woman who would not only be more suitable to the part, but also better looking. Personally, I can not stand the woman. The woman has an annoying raspy voice, an ugly mannish looking mouth, and her little smirks only make her look even less attractive. Big mistake casting her in the role of Sarah Conner.
I won't even get into the girlish looking actor that was cast as the famous John Conner in this series! Try as they might, they just cannot seem to make him look masculine enough. He is, after all, a man in real life, not a 15 year old boy. So, I can't imagine him ever looking any more masculine/ tough ...no matter what they do to his hair. :-D
I guess the most relevant question concerning this series is ...What were you people thinking?!
I Am Legend (2007)
Not as good as we thought it would be.
My husband and I are both Will Smith fans from the Fresh Prince days. However, the only up side to this film, was Will Smith's brilliant performance. If you like Will Smith, then you will enjoy the brilliance of his performance. However, the movie content left a lot to be desired. I was as though they ran out of fund, and cut the film short. It left my husband & I stunned. I think we both turned to one another, and said, "Is that all?!" The movie was so short, it blew both of our minds. Lets face it. This movie could have been 100% better. Like one person commented, "They could have easily made this movie a 2.5 hour movie, instead of the measly 90 minutes. This had the potential of being a brilliant film, but the producers and script writers let us down on this one.
Big Trouble in Little China (1986)
Fabtastic Flick - Absolute best of Kurt Russel.
Normally I do not like to comment on movies with such a long list of comment, because they generally just get lost in the crowd and never get read. But if you get this far, and have not yet seen this movie, then go our and rent/ buy a copy. You won't regret it.
Kurt Russell outdid himself in this movie. I'll never forget the first time I saw this movie. I could not stop laughing. Russell is absolutely brilliant, and delightfully funny. If you understand American humor, and love Kurt Russel as much as I do, Then you will love this movie. It is such a great movie, that I created the new word "Fabtastic" just for this movie. So, go watch it!
Películas para no dormir: Para entrar a vivir (2006)
Do not waste your time watching this rubbish!
The movie is about an older woman of small stature that lures "strong" healthy young couples, and supposedly overpowers and terrorizes them. LOL Even if I were drunk as a skunk this woman would never be able to over power me, and I am 54 years old. LOL Yet, we are suppose to believe that this woman has repeatedly overpowered big strong men and their partners. The worst part, and most unrealistic, was that the big strong, aggressive man was afraid of this small older woman. LOL Of course, if you like being annoyed, then please, go ahead and watch it. But don't say I didn't warn you. This movie is suppose to be a thriller, but it is too absurd to even be scary! The movie is utter rubbish from start to finish.
