Cuttputlli (2022)
Where is the investigation?
Cops are there to investigate in the field. Not merely abuse each other in the police station or rush to the crime scene all at once.
It's a wafer thin script. Poorly executed. I sat through the second half hoping for some action to take place, but none. Screaming is not action.
Action sequences are poorly shot. Background score is forgettable. Location adds no dimension to the narrative. Cast is so out of place. Akshay romancing a girl half his age and calling another mich younger looking girl Didi is both appalling and laughable. He needs to really think his film choices. Or perhaps it's just the money on his mind even if he is total miscast onto the role.
Give it a miss.
Beast (2022)
Terrible. No head or tail
Immensely slow. No action. No logic. Nothing but mockery of audience wisdom.
Simply avoid it. There is nothing in the movie that could spark interest.
420 IPC (2021)
Worth a watch
Watch it for some very good performances.
VP is as dependable as ever.
Ranvir Shorey is just splendid as a no-nonsense prosecutor. His dialog delivery is enchanting. Gul has played such roles with panache in the past too. No exception this time either. The surprise package is the defense lawyer. Worth the 90 mins of your time.
Atrangi Re (2021)
Missed opportunity
The writer chose a very sensitive topic, but made a total mess of it. Shows total lack of the sensitivities. The treatment is full of disdain and mockery.
Pairing of AK and SAK is totally absurd, even though there is a justification in the second half. Still to romance a girl less than half his age does not bring AK any accolades. The only saving grace is Dhanush, who plays every emotion perfectly.
SAK is a sham. She has no grace. Her dialog delivery is not even mediocre. Gets such author-backed roles only owing to her family name, only to make a mockery of it. As if uttering a couple of abusive words make you rebellious.
Avoid.
Jai Bhim (2021)
Packs a provocative punch
Do watch it if you want to watch meaningful, impactful cinema. Be ready for some brutal truth. I also believe perhaps the maker could have a shown a bit less of gore.
Haseen Dillruba (2021)
Does not cut fine
Too many obvious holes in the plot. Predictable climax. Yet okay to watch once.
Needed better editing.
Saina (2021)
Must avoid
Bad performances. Sport sequences shot like child's play. Clear that Pareeniti did no training of the game. The only saving grace was young Sania.
Sardar Ka Grandson (2021)
What a waste!
Super tired performance by Arjun Kapoor and overdose of stereotypes supplemented by terrible make up of Dadi. The only saving grace are the 5 min scenes featuring John Abraham and Aditi Hyadri.
Raat Baaki Hai (2021)
Predictable, slow, average
Barring Rahul Dev and the other cops, all performances are below par. Even from seasoned actors like Anup Soni.
Can be a 1-time watch if you have nothing else to do.
