Altered Carbon (2018)
Come for S1, forget S2.
The producers and everyone involved REALLY dropped the ball. S1 was fantastic. I loved it. It was one of the best shows I had seen in a very long time. It was beautifully done and gripped me from the very beginning. When the season ended, I looked forward to season 2 every single day. What a disappointment that turned out to be.
One of the biggest mistakes they made was going with Anthony Mackie. He's butchered almost everything he's ever been in. He was one of the worst parts of the marvel movies, and destroyed the Captain America role. To replace the magnificent lead role with such a diluted, garbage actor sent the show into a death spiral.
The Mummy (2017)
Fire these writers
The screenplay and dialogue is this is GARBAGE!!! Omg. Was this written by a chat bot? Did they have those back then? This is absolute trash.
I didn't expect much, being a Tom Cruise movie; he's one of those junk actors the masses hasn't figured out truly sucks yet. I did however expect the producers to not want one of their most ambitious projects to seem like it was written by elementary school students.
The interactions between characters is clunky and uncomfortable. They tried WAY too hard to be funny and witty, and it just comes off as gag worthy, stupid, and dumb.
Turned it off after 30 minutes, and that was being kind. This is one of the most horrendous piles of dung I've ever seen.
The Killer (2023)
Very bland with peaks.
I've been looking forward to this movie for over a month. With it being directed by the same person who did Seven and Fight Club? I was just scored and knew a big nasty twist was coming.
Only problem? There was no twist. The only thing I got by the end of the movie was relief it was over.
The audio and visuals are nice. The writing? Laughable. I'm not sure what chat bot they used to write this, but they should never use it again. The storyline was DRAB and the "super professional killer" that everyone wants SUCKS at his job. He makes a ton of stupid mistakes. And the big finale with "the expert?" Massive let down.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Better for one basic reason...
It isn't written better, or animated better, or stylized better than 2016. That main reason why this one is so much better? No Will Smith. Smith was the worst part of the 2016 version and this just proves it.
This movie is ridiculous, but in a good way. The action is fast and the storyline is fun. If you don't go into it expecting the movie of the decade, you'll have a good time. Some parts are predictable, but there are some twists and a few unexpected things that come up. The big baddie is over the top and completely silly, but somehow it still works. All in all, a pretty good time. Better than expected, and NO WILL SMITH!!! Woooo!🙌🙌🙌
The Last Days of American Crime (2020)
DO NOT WATCH THIS
I like the premise and possibilities. I hadn't looked at any reviews on it, but thought it looks really interesting. Well, there's a very, VERY short list of movies I have simply turned off and walked away from, but this is being added to that list.
Within maybe 15 minutes, it becomes painful to watch. The acting goes straight down the toilet, and you will find yourself wincing at the screen wonder, "What the actual hell is this?"
The dialogue is some of the cheesiest crap you'll ever hear, and the acting is so forced and ridiculous. I struggle to think of a movie I've ever seen that was worse.
This clearly shows that Netflix doesn't even watch what they produce. Someone offered them a movie, they threw money at it, and then simply added it to their streaming service. They should be EMBARRASSED!!!
Dexter (2006)
Still one of my favorites
We've watched every episode from start to finish a few times over the years. Such a great show, up till the ending.
It's a shame when a show comes along and it grips you, and then lets you down. Makes you feel for characters, bring you into this other world, but then starts deviating and destroying everything it built. So is the DEXTERverse and eventually how it ends.
If I was part of this series, I would have put my own money on the line to make the last season worthy of the rest. You can tell toward the end they started throwing darts at ideas randomly to just throw it together and wrap it up.
Other than that, the show is fantastic.
Dune (2021)
Did we watch the same movie?
I'm starting to wonder if the theatrical version was different than what I saw on Netflix. Don't get me wrong, the movie isn't "bad." But good lord it drags on! There's no reason why it should have been so long, especially with how little you actually learn.
I get there's a lot of story to tell, but the movie tells very little of it, especially with character development in mind. You never really get attached to anyone and feel basically zero emotional resonance.
If you're not already fairly familiar with the lore, I couldn't blame you for getting lost. It's clear they valued visuals over substance, and that's a shame.
R.I.P.D. (2013)
Entertaining and funny.
If you go into this expecting it not to be the next major blockbuster, it's actually pretty good. I like the concept and the world they've built. After watching it a second time years later, I can say there still a good time to be had here.
The graphics aren't great, but it was a cheap movie. Some of the concepts with the afterlife could have been explained a bit better, and the ending felt half hazard and rushed, but all in all it's fun to watch.
They focused a little too much on Ryan's character. I get he was the main, but I really would have like to see more power and assertiveness from Jeff's character. He would not have just laid down and taken some things. The dynamic there could have been dramatically improved with their partnership.
Still well worth a watch, especially when it's free on Netflix.
Jonah Hex (2010)
Wanted to like it
Been meaning to watch this for a few years now. Finally decided to take the plunge. Only thing you need to know is: If you like goofy, kiddy anime and ridiculousness? You will probably enjoy this movie.
It's almost like everyone involved in this movie simply gave up on it. The fact that numerous name brand actors are in this and it's still as bad as it is just solidifies that.
There are very few movies I just can't make it through and give up on. This is one of them. Parts of it were absolutely painful to sit through.
And even though she's an exceptionally beautiful person, thanks primarily to surgery, I do wish people would stop casting Megan Fox. She is hands down the worst actress Hollywood has ever produced.
Nowhere (2023)
Pretty far fetched, but not bad.
Whoever wrote the dialogue will hopefully never write anything ever again. It was by far the worst part of the movie.
The beginning was pretty bland and really coincidental. They also never really said why this crazed regime was doing what it was doing. The regime also felt right out of a goofy Asian anima.
Other than that. The movie wasn't terrible. Once she stops being incredibly whiney and annoying, you start caring what happens to the woman and baby. It's all still very far fetched though. I've worked with shipping containers for years, and it would have sank within minutes.
Other than that, it's worth a watch if you're bored.
Ragnarok (2020)
I loved this show and hate doing this...
I couldn't wait to watch each episode. The show was great! Looked forward to it each day. It quickly became my new addiction from episode one. It was a new take, it had a great plot line, and the characters were rich and interesting.
But the final episode? I was infuriated. Do NOT watch the last episode!!! Stop at the second to last and go NO further. They completely destroy the entire show. Not only does it ruin it all, there's a TON of plot holes and issues that arise because of it. It makes zero sense, and is the worst ending I have ever seen to anything. I have never seen such a flagrant disregard for wrapping up something intelligently.
EuroTrip (2004)
These reviewers need to get a grip
This movie is FULL of raunchy fun and a bunch of re-quoteable liners. It's a good time that any realistic comedy lover would enjoy.
Don't fret from the naysayers and uppity whiners saying it lacks depth. This isn't a romcom or soap opera.
It's a break from the norm and boring everyday junk, and it does it well.
Still Waiting... (2009)
Not sure why all the hate
This was really good. Sure, it's not as good as the first one, but how many movies are? Some of the cast is back, there's lots of raunchy humor, and the storyline is good.
Not the greatest movie ever made, but it's a fun and funny watch. I'd recommend it if you like the first one.
The Expanse (2015)
Started off pretty good
After the first season, things start going dry. The last season is almost completely a soap opera. The finale was a joke, and they leave everything on a big cliff hanger, then canceled the show.
If you don't mind being disappointed, this isn't a bad one to watch. Just expect to sit through some long and drawn out filler.
Breaking Bad (2008)
Still the best show ever made
We've watched it all the way through. Several times. And I could still watch it again.
Even years later, this is the best show you'll ever watch. Even the "filler" episodes are good and well written. Can't say that about any other shows.
This was truly the peak of TV, and things have slowly gone downhill ever since.
Vikings (2013)
First couple of seasons are amazing.
After the first couple of seasons, there's a lot of filler. By the last couple of seasons you just want it to get done and over with.
It was a fun ride for the most part. Definitely worth a watch. Just don't be disappointed when the show starts to drop your interest.
The Boys (2019)
Thank the LAWD a good show is here!
It's about time we get a good show that isn't so predictable and dry. This is such a great antidote to the woke garbage out there and all the trash written superhero movies coming out.
Definitely worth a watch.
Resident Evil (2022)
Everything before episode 4 is filler garbage. I have no idea why they put the show together like this and had such a long, dry first few episodes. I, like many others, almost stoped after the first episode.
Episode 4 starts picking up, and it gets good in some places. Still not what I expected, and I think it could have been written a lot better, but worth a run through.
Not sure who makes the calls at Netflix these days, but they need to lose their job. Like now.
The Harder They Fall (2021)
COMPLETE TRASH
What do you do in a time when it's fun and socially acceptable to berate white people and treat them like trash? You make an all black western where the only white people are evil.
Just forget any and all reality based scenarios, erase any shred of what the west was, and simply make ideological gods out of any black person simply because they're black; that's what this whole movie is. No real storyline. No basis of reality. No fun. No point other than, "Look how 'gangsta' these Wild West black 'gangstas' are!" Complete waste of time. Completely underwritten. Complete junk that should have never been made.
This show, for lack of a better word, isn't good enough to be used as toilet paper for smearing the doodoo off your chocolate starfish.
Now You See Me 2 (2016)
Such GARBAGE!!!!!!
I made an account just to review this movie. This is one of the worst I've ever seen. Complete junk. I spent $4 to watch this on Redbox and wish I could file for a refund.
It's. That. Bad.
