Needs More Daryl Morrell!
17 February 2014
Warning: Spoilers
The one problem I had with this film (besides the terrible moral message at the end. Why would you actually turn to a life of crime just to appease your daughter?) was that there wasn't enough Daryl Morrell (or Doherty as he was called at the time of this film).

For a film that sells itself as a film starring Daryl Morrell, there really isn't enough Daryl Morrell in it to keep most satisfied.

Instead, he appears in brief flashes (so brief, in fact, that you could argue that his entire appearance in the film is subliminal). That being said, however, the film was shot during a period in which Daryl had long hair and HIM hoodies. It's very unlikely that we'll ever see that Daryl Morrell again, so for that reason alone I almost recommend this film, because it's almost a zeitgeist piece. If the film offers nothing else, at least it has the claim to fame of being one of the few documented pieces to feature Daryl from that time. But, still, blink and you'll miss it.

Compare Daryl's role as Teen 1 in Claire Dix's "Free Chips Forever!" to his role as Graveyard Junkie in Aaron Kavanagh's "A Week in the Life of a Heroin Addict". Kavanagh's underrated piece about a secondary school teenager struggling with his week-long heroin addiction is only three minutes long. This is four times shorter than the twelve minute "Free Chips Forever!", yet Kavanagh's piece utilizes it's Daryl a lot more. While Daryl only appears on screen for about fifteen to twenty seconds, his character provides an impact on the story, killing off the main character that we spent the last two minutes and forty seconds getting to know and love. Add to this that Kavanagh was smart enough to add Daryl in another scene in the film. Little known fact, Daryl also plays a character in a locker scene in "Heroin Addict". Some have speculated that this is the same character that later goes on to kill the main character Greg, but Kavanagh has denied these rumours, insisting that he put Daryl in that scene just to see if people would notice. Another fun fact, Kavanagh's "Heroin Addict" is one of the only films to have a budget and a gross that are both negative numbers.

So, overall, I give this film a six out of ten. To future filmmakers, I say be sure to utilize your Daryl Morrells a lot more. I give it a six because, while I don't feel that the movie was deserving of this, I must admit that (and call this bias on my part) anything that features Daryl Morrell had to be more than just average.

Really good show.
22 October 2009
I would consider NOFX to be around my fourth or fifth favorite band. I've seen them live here in Dublin and seeing them booking their tours in these weird countries was really interesting. You get to see the band's home lives and how they feel about playing these weird countries. Obviously the show features a lot of NOFX songs which, if you're watching this show in the first place, you must like. But a lot of these songs get redundant. "Timmy the Turtle" and "American Errorist (I Hate Hate Haters)" are two songs that you'll hear over and over again. There's definitely songs to look out for though. Like "Leaving Jesusland" being played in Malaysia or "Last Night Was Really Fun" being played in Singapore. The show is pretty tame. That's not to say it's not good, but for anyone checking out NOFX for the first time off this, won't really get the idea. Only songs without curses are played. The DVD comes with an extra disc with extended footage. It's pretty cool to see, but honestly, you won't watch it too often. If you're a fan of NOFX, then this is a no-brainier, go buy it. If you're only getting into NOFX, hold off for a while. Listen to their music more, if they're playing in your area, go see them. Just get the general idea before watching this.

Why didn't I write a review on this before?
14 July 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Back to the Future is one of the best movies of the 80's. One thing I should mention before I write my review, when you watch this movie today, it's weird to see Michael J. Fox jumping around like a mad man while today he suffer's from Parkinson. Just something I thought I should mention. Anyway, for the movie. Marty McFly is the first character you see (well his feet). He hooks a guitar up to an app and blow's him away. Then he get's a call from the Doc telling him about his new invention. Even if you only know the plot and this is your first time watching the movie, you basically know what the invention is. You get some back story about Marty, his family and his town, Hill Valley. When you get to see Doc, you sorta know what's coming next. But then he get's killed by terrorists who chase Marty around the JC Penny's parking lot. After that where in 1955. You get to see George McFly in Lou's café and I will let you see the rest. Overall, this movie has a great mix of comedy, drama, suspense and action. It's also good to see cursing in kid's movie. Yay! Buy it if you can. Hell, two week's ago I got the entire trilogy for €12! See ya next time!

If your mature enough to watch it, then do!
14 July 2008
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is great. Why? Well that's the thing, people have there own opinion on why they liked or disliked this movie. For me, it's seeing what this school teacher does after school. As a kid, I always wondered what my teacher's did after school and I think this show's a realistic vision on what a teacher may do after school. This film has a lot of sex or sexual moments. The weird thing is, while there is a lot of sex scene's in the movie, it was actually the rape scene at the end of the film that really got the movie into hot water and it's not even that easy to see. The thing that annoyed me was the damn flashing blue light at the end. I guess this was the filmmaker's way of passing censorship if the rape and murder at the end was hard to see by the flashing light but it really strained my eye's and if you suffer from photosensitive epilepsy this is a seizure waiting to happen. Also, what happened to Tony? The last time you see him, he shout's at Theresa a little and then just goes away. And the same goes for James. During and after the New Year's scene, the movie start's to drag on a little. Over all, if your old enough, see the movie and if your not, well too bad, your missing out. Oh, one last thing, when Diane Keaton blows into the condom it is really funny, thought I'd slip that in.

Beavis and Butt-Head (1993–2011)
10/10
One of the best show's of the 90's.
7 July 2008
Man, I loved this show as a kid and still do today! It seems that back in the 90's, Beavis and Butt-head were blamed for everything. Causing kids to set fire, teaching kids to sniff paint thinner, stealing credit cards and getting in trouble with cops. This was back in the 90's, when people didn't have Grand Theft Auto to blame all the world's problems on. Something that made me mad, in November, 2005, MTV released a three disc DVD set called "Beavis and Butt-head: The Mike Judge Collection.". The DVD set claimed "Director's Cut", but guess what? They WERE actually cut! Put's a whole new definition on "Director's Cut", doesn't it? Another weird thing, the episodes on the disc's aren't in chronological order. A thing that annoyed me, "Way Down Mexico Way" isn't featured on the disc, and I loved that episode. I say, buy the DVD's for 25 euro or less (that's, 39 USD, 40 AUD, 19 Pounds, 39 CAD, etc...). The show rocks, end of story.

Very good spoof movie.
3 July 2008
This movie is a very good spoof movie and definitely one of my favorites. Now thanks to the two laughing joking numb nuts known as Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, spoof movies (mainly ones with "Movie" in the title) have been giving a bad name. For that reason, many didn't give this one a chance. But, this was written by Craig Mazin, who I like as a writer (except Scary Movie 4). Now yesterday, 02 July, 2008, I went to see this with my dad. I liked it and so did he. The reason I think this worked and something like "Meet the Spartans" didn't is because Mazin see's the movies he's spoofing unlike Friedberg and Seltzer who only see the trailer (and I'm not joking about that). Mazin focuses on one movie this time (Spider-Man 1) and he makes jokes about certain scene's and moments (like when Spider-Man is bleeding, in this Dragonfly has to pee.) Where Friedberg and Seltzer make the same joke over and over again (kicking the celebrity's into the pit from 300). So, yeah, see this movie but don't see anything by Friedberg and Seltzer.

Deadly!
21 June 2008
This movie is funny as anything! Now, non-Irish, I think will hate this. Nobody but us Irish will like. I think, mainly, Dublin people will like it the most because we can relate to it the most. I think culchies might like it also, but won't relate to us like us. Maybe culchies will hate it because they make fun of them. It also makes fun of people from Northern Ireland. It's all in good fun, however. I like to see and Irish movie for Dubliners, seeing as most of them are made for culchies and Dubliners hate them. This time the shoes on the other foot! Anyway, Dubliners, check it out. Anyone else, stay away! However, if you do think of watching it, you might learn some Dublin words!

My Second review.
17 June 2008
First of, I already did a review for this in early June, 2008, but it didn't get through. Whatever. So this is my second review. Well, what can I say? The Angry Video Game Nerd is THE best internet show ever made. My personal favorite is the Bible Games episode, that was so funny. At the moment I am waiting for my Angry Nerd DVD I ordered yesterday (June 16th, 2008). I love this show. I mean, James Rolfe is so creative. He can make anyone laugh. Though it's meant for older viewers, for both nostalgia and curse words, kids and teens love it also just for being awesome. It's weird to think that I found out about this show in 2006 by mistake, but, that's the same with every show, right? Anyway check out the show, you won't be disappointed. Anyway, I hope this was helpful.

The Simpsons: The DeBarted (2008)
Season 19, Episode 13
8/10
Pretty darn good!
11 May 2008
All I can say is "Wow!". Every Simpsons fan knows that the Simpsons have been going downhill over the last few years but this episode may be the shows Saving Grace! The episode didn't use dumb jokes, well, at least not too many. Topher Grave was an interesting choice as a guest. He's not super famous but most people would know who your talking about if you say his name. Anyway, when I thought of him playing a school kid I thought to myself "Hmm.Okay.". But he did the Simpsons well. Now that's the A-story. As for the B-story, well, it's okay. I mean it's just that Homer has got a new car for rent and doesn't want to give it up. It doesn't fit in with the A-story but still it doesn't effect the A-story. Overall, this episode rocks!

Not as good as the first one but still very good
15 February 2008
Warning: Spoilers
The first National Treasure set the bar for adventure films. The sequel is not as good but is very close. Both movies contain historical monuments as well as learning. Now this itself may confuse younger kids if your planing to bring them. This time around it focuses on the death of Abraham Lincoln. This time Mitch Wilkinson (played by Ed Harris) is trying to convince everyone than Ben Gates' (played by Nicolas Cage) great-great grandfather hired John Wilkes Booth to assassinate Abraham Lincoln. Both Ben and his father are annoyed. For some reason Abigail Chase (played by Diane Kriger) has broken up with Ben(there is a reason but I won't spoil it). Riley Poole (played by Justin Bartha) has written a book about what happened in the first movie. In case you haven't seen it, Riley is still very funny as before. I don't wanna give away anymore of the movie but it's very good and awesome go see and this action movie is up there with The Goonies, Radiers of the Lost Ark and the original movie. Go see it and enjoy.

Shrek 4-D (2003 Video)

One awesome ride for Universal, Florida!
4 October 2007
Shrek 4-D is awesome! When I went to see it on my holiday in Florida I didn't know what it was. As I walked into Universal to collect my tickets, there was a TV screen showing clips for rides in the park. I saw this and thought "Wow this looks good" When I stood in line there were clips from the original Shrek movie. When you go into the castle there is a woman (maybe a man some days) there is characters from Shrek in the room with you. There is a TV screen which shows The Gingerbreadman running away and then the ghost appears on screen. Oh, but before you go in they give you special glasses (to make everything look 3-D). You seat in seats that jerk every once in a while. It is very fun and if your there check it out if your a fan of Shrek or not.

Father Ted (1995–1998)
10/10
A classic.
30 September 2007
Father Ted just blew me away when I first saw it and it still does today. It has Irish writer, Irish actors and an English TV station. It's the perfect mix! Any way, Dougal is one of the funniest TV characters ever! So Ted (The smart one but nothing goes his way), Dougal (The dumb one that everything goes his way but he doesn't notice), Jack (The drunk pervert that Ted and Dougal can't look beyond) and Ms. Doyle (Every Irish woman over 80) all make a great team. So it's a mix of stereotypical Irish people and real life Irish people. This show will entertain you trust me. This is my little review and if you see it on watch it.

Monster House (2006)
7/10
The ending was a bit boring but the rest was great!
30 September 2007
Monster House is a very good movie. However, it may scare younger kids. It also has flashing images so it you are prone to seizures you may want to avoid it. The cast for this movie was great. Having kids play the main characters instead of adults playing kids was a very good choice. Nick Cannon and Kevin James are very funny in this movie. They play two crazy cops. Jason Lee who plays Bones made me laugh. Maggie Gyllenhaal was a nice choice. Her character was half nice half bad. In fact the only bad thing I can say about the cast is I wish Jon Heder had more time on screen. I only remember him in two scenes and you may miss him in his last scene. The animation was just fantastic. This is very advanced animation. It's not just walking into a room and putting your voice in the cartoon. They were acting it all out. Spencer Locke played a very strong role in this. I've never seen her in that much. Overall good but may scare younger kids.

To much talking not enough action. Just read this if you like this thing.
27 September 2007
Whoever gives this movie a 10/10 are fan boys. Now you to action movies for action not talking. And when action starts to happen it ends as soon as it starts. Whoever say's Harry Potter ripped of this is talking BS. Harry Potter is much better than this. Of course you wan't a plot but Peter Jackson (Who's work I hate) drags the plot out for 3 hours. That's not so bad but the plot is this ring is awesome we have to destroy it end of story. But Peter said "No, that's not good enough. Let's make a crap movie and make everybody thing it's great a make millions so much that if anyone says it's bad they'll get attacked by fan boy's. And that's what happened to me. I made a comment saying how made it was and a group of mindless zombies who liked this movie was all like "Hey your stupid" etc... I was giving my opinion but this director who spends more time on special effects than a story has geeks and nerds attacking me. This rating is a fair one and you know it.

Very hard to follow.
17 September 2007
The movie was good but the story is very hard to follow. When I read about Micheal Collins in my history book in school it was easy to follow. This film makes all of that hard to follow. Another thing is why is there so many non-Irish in this film? Julia Roberts is from America (I guess they put her in so it would a worldwide release), than Alan Rickman who is from the UK. I also heard Tom Cruise and Kevin Costner were considered for this film. Even Micheal Collins is played by a guy from Northen Ireland. I have to respect this film because it's my country's history. But after 5 minutes I lose the plot. And another thing is PG? What the heck? Even though the IFCO rated it PG because of the historical matter this movie has strong language and violent scenes. Not one for the kiddies.

Go see this.
28 August 2007
The Simpsons have been around now for about 20 something years now and the TV show has gone downhill a little but the movie makes up for that. Homer and Bart have most screen time in this movie. But before I talk anymore about the movie I wanna talk about the rating. This movie is rated PG by the IFCO. I have to say that is a fair rating. Sure there's somethings in this like Bart's private area and Otto smoking a bong but beyond that it only should get a PG rating. The movie gets a little boring when the Simpsons move to Alaska but after and before that it's great. Go see it if you like The Simpsons but if not don't bother. I gave this a 9/10 it's very good.

Borat (2006)

This movie was nice!...NOT!
12 June 2007
Okay I'm all for comedy. I loved Ali G. But this is stupid. When a lot of people said " This movie is awesome" "10/10" "I couldn't stop laughing" "Best movie ever" etc... I thought "Wow, I've gotta see this!" After 20 minutes into the movie well... ever have a hangover and there's someone there playing the drums? That's better than Borat! If I didn't see Epic Movie I'd say this is the worst movie I ever saw. You know what? This can't even be called a movie. You go to the movies to be entertained not bored. Borat should be called "Boring" ! I know he got a lot of awards for this piece of you know what but he didn't earn them. And I know a lot of people (mainly Sacha) is going to deny this, but I say it was scripted.

I liked it
21 May 2007
Well first of all I'm glad they gave J.K Simmons and Bruce Campbell more time on screen. I also liked they way the mixed scary scenes and comedy into the movie. Venom's might be the scariest thing in this movie. Although I'm sad Venom only came at the end the good thing about that is he didn't scream all over the movie. There is a reason they put Sandman in this movie but I won't spoil it. The casting was great. I was unsure about Topher Grace playing Eddie Brock/Venom because I thought he'd be to much like Eric from That 70's Show but after 2 minutes you forget it's him. One problem about this movie is there is not that much Spidey it's more about Peter and MJ's relationship that being said it's over two hours so your going to get what you came for. Anyway the movie's great make sure you see it.

Not that great
3 April 2007
My old friends saw this movie in the cinema and said it was crap. I didn't see it before but it was on Sky Movies one day so I watched it. Okay I understand they won't have time to fit every where in but they miss have of Europe. I think the only European places used are England, France and as far as I remember Germany. Even though they have Owen and Luke Wilson, Arnie, Rob Scnider, Jackie Chan, Steve Coogan and others it doesn't help the movie in any way. There is a big plot hole in it seeing as he doesn't actually travel the whole world. And maybe your like "Hey, why is this guy moaning? He saw it on Sky Movies, he didn't actually pay money on this." Well I know but even if you didn't spend money on it your wasting your life on it any way. Okay Owen Wilson and Jackie Chan were great together on Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights but he is not it this much just for a very short cameo. And even when he is on he doesn't even talk to Jackie. If they used Owen as much as they used Arnie this might have got a four. But sadly it didn't. 2/10 is fair.

Dumb version of Madagascar.
24 March 2007
One thing I hate is Disney and Dreamworks always taking each others idea's. Shrek = Disney's fairy tale movies, Shark Tale = Finding Nemo, This = Madagascar, Ratallion = Flushed Away. There are other movies I can't think of. The more they try the more there worst. It was one of the most worst movies I have ever seen along with Epic Movie and others. The idea takes both Madagascar (Animals getting lose and running away) and Finding Nemo's (A dad looking for his son) plot's. After two minutes you will hate this movie and anyone who liked it have no humor. Although rated "G" I think this movie will boar little kids and big kids and adults and everyone. Total rubbish if you didn't see it don't. 1/10

Great Fun!
17 December 2006
Lot's of great comedy's on TV but this is the one for 2006! The story is about a New York lawyer Alex Rose and her boyfriend Scott. When I first seen the adverts to it I thought it'd be a real girls comedy but I liked it (As you can see from my rating)! Like lot's of comedy's it has canned laughter at jokes that aren't that funny but it makes up for it. So far I haven't seen a bad episode. I don't know about you but I say it is not a prime time comedy. It's like The War at Home, Friends,Joey,Everybody Hates Chris, Two and a Half etc.. one of those. I think it's a comedy that doesn't take that long to learn all of the characters (Like 'The Simpsons') where like Everybody Loves Raymond I still don't know all of there names yet and I've been watching it for like a year now. One of the reasons it doesn't take that long to learn there names is because there isn't loads of characters. It's really a great comedy so give it a chance.

Gamezville is GREAT!!!
4 November 2006
Gamezville was 100% cool and awesome. True that it only last year but I think it was one of the best shows to come out of the UK. If you agree your a true gamer. I know you don't care what I think about you but still true gamers LOVED this show. If your still a fan you can go to a Gamezville fan site were you can download clips from the show, look at Q and A, check out cool photos that NEVER got in the show. I am not going to tell you the websites name do. But I went on to it and it's a true website. But I think it was stupid idea of Sky One to get ride of the show it was one of the best shows they had. It was totally cool. It had funny presenters, great previews of new games, and the good old Face Off. Darren, Jamie, Sarah, Matt and Games Guru find some more work OK?
