Oppenheimer (2023)
Wow! 10/10
Im abit late to the party but I gotta admit, I love Interstellar but Oppenheimer I loved even more than Interstellar! It was nothing like I expected either.
I went into this thinking it would glorify the atomic bomb, thats why I didnt watch it initially. But its the COMPLETE OPPOSITE! Especially the ending had me in awe. So true and tragic at the same time, the movie questions all the morality around the atomic bomb and its ring effects. Im very glad those that went into this movie thinking they would see bombs and action were completely wrong and got a reality check. I liked that they didnt make the bomb huge and glorious to watch, that way you could keep your focus on the morality around it. Very important especially in todays age where it constantly feels like we on the edge of WW3. I especially loved Einstein and his part to play. Really affected my emotions heavily, after the movie I was just sitting and staring in the air, the same way Oppenheimer did at the end. I want to watch it again! Its not getting the credit it deserves at all. It should atleast be a 9. I cant believe people thought it the level of Barbie, its miles ahead.
Bodies (2023)
The ending ruined it for me
This show had me hooked from the start and was very entertaining and refreshing. But the ending left me full of questions and with a depressed mindset. I want to know what happened to Gabriel, why is Iris suddenly in 2023, how was the Throat created, why did Elias choose to marry exactly Polly, what happened to Mannix after he disappeared? I feel like this is yet another "end yourself so everyone else will be happy" scenario as the movie The Butterfly effect ( which had me severely depressed after I watched it).
So yeah I'm not happy with the ending, it was depressing, and as if "certain people are not allowed to exist cause they are only making the existence of everyone else miserable" which is an extremely damaging message to send out to young people, as I myself have experienced. As if some people are just not allowed by the universe to experience love and happy things and if you try to do things differently, everything will go to hell and you will be selfish for wanting love. This show had so much potential but I think the ending ruined it for me absolutely. I dont often write reviews but this was so damning, Im honestly really upset.
You should be very careful sending out that type of message, cause young people will take it to heart and see it from their point of view.
I'm so very sad and disappointed. I loved this show up until the last 20 mins. I would have given it a 9/10 however the ending drags it down severely. Its not a show I would recommend anyone to watch, especially if someones struggling with mental issues.
Imawa no Kuni no Arisu: Episode 8 (2022)
Mindblowing ending!
My mind is blown, there was SO many plot twists in this episode, and it was so exciting to find out what was real and what was not. I loved it and hungry for more! But happy to see it ends with happy ending for most of them. Very entertaining show. Its worth your time, the drawn out parts makes up for the action and interesting backstories of each of the characters. I didnt feel bored during any of the episodes, and I like the new characters aswell. A little bit sad that they dont remember their time together in the Borderlands though, they kind of get a fresh start, but I still hope they rekindle their feelings and bond.
Troll (2022)
I want more Troll
The movie isnt flawless sure, but it did entertain me, especially cause I am Norwegian and grew up with the fairytales of trolls. I wish we saw more of the troll, more of its backstory, as it was a very interesting plot twist in the movie. Im glad they are expanding the universe of Trolls, Id love to see more of old Nordic fairytale creatures in movies.
I cant understand why it got so many negative reviews. Theres a few cliche's, like the military Captain's speech, but I expected that tbh. But I thought overall it was entertaining. I dont know what others expected, if they are used to nordic movies or movies like the Troll Hunter. I personally prefer Troll over Troll Hunter. I wish the movie was longer and more of the troll. I liked the characters in the movie, except maybe the high up who controlled everything.
House of the Dragon: The Black Queen (2022)
Some amazing parts and some horrible parts
I am unsure how to rate this episode, because it had some amazing parts, but also some parts I absolutely hated beyond words.
The episode starts off strong, as usual, with great scenery and performances from the actors. I have no bad things to say about that, as they all do a great job. My issue is the writing. Some parts in this episode gives me strong flashbacks to the horrible writing of GoT season 8.
Rhaenyra giving birth yet again is horrifying and amazingly well done. The actress is really giving an amazing performance, especially of the pain she endures.
The crowning of Rhaenyra was abit underwhelming tbh, I do not like the characters of the two twin Kings' guards, who look the same and have almost the same name. This is a very poor decision, as I have no idea which is which, and who is at Rhaenyra's crowning. I do wish they get rid of these characters as they only add confusion. I also want them to flesh out side characters of who supports Rhaenyra, cause atm it is just Daemon and her children and their fiance's. Rhaenys do not take any side, and I am baffled as to why they let her be inside where they discuss matters of war, as she can use that information against them and she does not bend the knee to Rhaenyra when she is crowned, she is the only one standing. She should not have been allowed in the room talking about war.
Now the map of Westeros is a stunning visual, my only complaint is that I wish they showed it vertically so we could actually read all the names, instead of only horisontally.
Now my BIGGEST ISSUE with this episode is the horrible writing of Daemon choking Rhaenyra out of NOWHERE! Rhaenyra was just casually talking about The Song of Ice and Fire when Daemon chokes her, as if he was triggered?? Daemon was not triggered to do this, why would he? He had not heard of The Song of Ice and Fire before. It was so dumb. I am aware Daemon is a deeply flawed character, but one thing has been consistent throughout the show (mind me I have not read the books) and that is that he is very protective of Rhaenyra and his family. He would never have hurt her. This infuriated me as it was basicly a death threat to her, I dont understand who made this decision, but it was a bad one and I hope they are removed from the writing alltogether. It made no sense. I absolutely hated it. I refuse to believe that happened.
Now the rest is beautiful and well done, especially Lucerys Velaryon flight in the storm. The ominous Vhagar outside in the storm as a warning. I wish he turned around the moment he saw Vhagar. Particularly the music aswell, so ominous. Absolutely loved it. I love that they took the freedom to let the dragons express themselves and be the ones who start the conflict by the reaction to their riders emotions. The regret in Aemonds eyes as he realized what happened. That was great writing. I wish they told us which dragon Daemon went to see in the cave though. As most show watchers have not read the books and dont know. I still dont know.
Now the ending, I thought was abit abrupt. I thought there would be more set up, and not it ending on a cliffhanger. It felt premature. I wanted more to see what would happen. Not just Rhaenyras face reaction to her sons death. I wanted dialog.
If youve read this far, you can understand why this episode is confusing me, especially to rate.
The Mummy (2017)
I dont understand why the low score
I loved this movie, I really want a second one! I think it had some very interesting elements to it, especially the other types of evils and what happened at the end. It can be explored so much more. I dont understand why this movie is so disliked. Really want a 2nd movie!
