Muricans' view of different cultures
22 December 2019
It's like making a 3 hour movie about Muricans wearing shoes inside and it ending up with fungus. Slowly but steadily, it will be a disaster.

Pretentious shi'ite.

Not only a movie about a punk band, but a glimpse into a devastating economic depression
24 November 2018
Finnish 90s kids/teens will probably get the most out of this movie, but it's also a reminder of small town life for many during the early 90s depression.

Apulanta's music was used too sparingly for my tastes, but I can understand that.

The acting and actors were mostly brilliant, down to the accents and speech patterns, even their appearance was freakily similar.

Good movie, best Finnish move I've seen in years. That's not saying much, but it is a good movie.

Good music but not much else
24 September 2018
1 star for authentic, good music. 1 star for the few and far between funny jokes. 1 star for relatively good dialect/accents from the actors.

20 minutes of good stuff, 65 minutes of Finnish movie cliches and forced narrative.

Would've worked better as a short film, maybe 30 minutes tops. Not garbage but extremely underwhelming and mostly boring.

Carbon copy of a 15 year old British series, except not funny

Warning: Spoilers
They use the same script as the original, only slightly altered to fit Finnish culture. Immediate fail there.

Most of the acting is typical "book language" theatrical nonsense which immediately makes it unwatchable. No-one in real life speaks like most characters/actors here, it's a relic from decades ago which makes most Finnish drama and comedy totally cringeworthy and unrelatable. Think of US or UK TV-shows where everyone spoke shakespearean and you got the point.

Most "actors" here have probably done a few shows at summer theater and now try comedy. It's a disaster.

2 out of 10 because I think every 1 vote is disqualified by the IMDb algorithm.

Booyakasha!

I is a really big Ali G fan, the show was absolutely brilliant. However, I is a little disappointed about dis movie. Maybe because I had such high expectations because of da Ali G show. Sure there is a lot of funny jokes and scenes, but it isn't as original as I'd hoped. Somehow it seems to be aimed at US audience, there just was too much jokes that was heard and seen before.

Anyhow, Ali G is like a cult character already, and I only wish there will be more Ali G movies, I know Sacha Baron Cohen can do MUCH better than this... but they has to keep it real. 8/10 big ups for Ali. Respect!
