Majestic Chutzpah !
3 October 2014
Haider concludes the Shakespearean trilogy of Vishal Bhardwaj after Maqbool and Omkara and it is indeed a fitting finale to this spectacular series of adaptations that Vishal Bhardwaj has made. Don't go expecting a scene by scene retelling of Hamlet because this is after all an "adaptation" by a brilliant filmmaker and not a scene-by- scene copy or "remake" as normally seen in Indian movies. So he makes the story his own while at the same time keeping true to the spirit of the original. He adds many layers to this complex saga of emotions which draws the viewer in and doesn't let go till the final frame. Spectacular cinematography and soulful music enhance the experience of watching the epic drama unfolding on screen. Story is watertight without any loopholes and the dialogues are pure brilliance. The strongest part of the movie is the acting by the superb star cast. Shahid Kapoor finally gets a role which he deserves and he simply sears the screen with his intensity. Tabu is top-class as always and is the backbone of this movie and proves yet again how much we lose when she does so little work. Kay Kay is also in full form as he shows what a brilliant actor he is when given the right role. Shraddha Kapoor looks the part but has a long way to go in the acting department. Even the actors with less screen time like Narendra Jha, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and "2 Salmans" leave a strong mark. And of course, Irrfan Khan in the most sensational special appearance ever. And above all this technical and creative artistry is the Master himself, Vishal Bhardwaj, the director, who oversees this extremely difficult subject and delivers a Tour de Force of a movie.

Dhan Te Nan
14 August 2009
Well if you thought that the song Dhan Te Nan which you see on various TV channels is frantic, just wait till you see this pumped-up heavy duty movie. The film begins with a chase sequence near the local trains of Mumbai. And from then on the pace of the movie never drops as it hurtles towards an explosive climax where all bets are off about who'll make it and who will not. The basic story revolves around a "Guitar" to which many people are connected directly or indirectly. Its a story about the decisions which we make in our life and what impact they have on us and the people around us. The movie has a large number of characters but its the beauty of screenplay and the Director that they all become memorable ones and not just forgettable names. Chief among them is Mikhail(Chandan Roy Sanyal) as Charlie's best friend. Amol Gupte is menacing as the villain. Priyanka Chopra who is riding high these days once again shows that she is a very capable actress and not just a pretty girl. Shahid Kapoor has always been a good actor in the simpleton Guddu type roles, but here he literally burns the screen as the whacko race-bookie Charlie. The tremendous passion which he brings to screen really keeps the viewers riveted to this scintillating saga of twin brothers. And finally... THE MAN.VISHAL BHARADWAJ. He literally makes the film what it is with the best direction and music that i've seen in any Hindi movie in a long long time. Take a bow Mr. Vishal Bharadwaj. You have really made a movie which shows how the movies should really be made.

Masala Entertainer
12 November 2007
Warning: Spoilers
OSO is a treat for those who love cinema and go to enjoy it and not to "unearth deep meanings of life"..or whatever.

So here we have 3hrs. of pure entertainment with all the songs, sets, action etc. that u'd associate with a bollywood movie.

Pre-interval portion shows 70's era which is beautifully recreated. It is basically a lot of fun and then the story intensifies as we approach interval till it reaches its crescendo and the deaths take place.

Post-interval movie moves to 2007 where the protagonists are re-incarnated and the hero takes revenge of the past wrongs done by the villain.

New actress Deepika is quite a talent and may soon become a superstar.Arjun Rampal was menacing as the villain and i liked his acting for the first time.Kiron Kher and Shreyas Talpade are the link between hero's previous birth and his re-incarnation and both are superb actors.

Finally, the man on whose shoulders the film rests. The mighty KING KHAN(Shah Rukh Khan) shows one and all that why he is called Baadshah of Bollywood.Amazing performance by him yet again especially in the 70's role where he plays a junior artiste.

Well so enough reading of review folks, now go and catch this movie.Your time will be well spent!

enJoy!!
