Goosebumps (2023)
Not one shout out for Justin Long?? Dudes got range!
I only skimmed a couple dozen reviews, but I was surprised no one has mentioned Justin Long's performance. I think he's been amazing the entire series. I mean, when I think of Justin long I think of Dodgeball, Waiting, Accepted, and then Jeepers Creepers I guess falls more in line with the genre. But anyway, I got lost in his performance and forgot at times he was acting as a guy being possessed by another guy and he's been carrying the season for me a bit.
Also it seems everyone was really hellbent on this series being like the books and was disappointed. I think if history has taught us anything it's that if you liked the book(s) you are certainly going to be disappointed with the movie lol.
I liked how the ended some of the episodes with some good cliff hangers, I gasped. Especially when the kid exploded into goo! Like what the hell! Lol
"I'm a dude, playing a dude, disguised as another dude" (Tropic Thunder) Sorry it reminded me of that and that movies hilarious, couldn't help myself.
Included the spoiler tag because I said Justin Longs character gets possessed.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: The Good Ones (2021)
I thought it was well done
Like someone else said, you either agreed with the messaging and thought it was good or you didn't and hated it. Honestly it was kinda cringe at the beginning and felt a bit off. But the whole show took a subtle turn when Terry pulled Boyle a side and was honest with him about how he had been acting. From then on I felt like it was more natural and genuine coming from the characters when before everything was forced. Well done by the writers if the intention was to show the duality of doing something just to be PC vs genuinely caring about some one else and acting accordingly. There was also the theme between the characters of one person who doesn't quite understand what the other person is experiencing and addressing things the wrong way. Jake to Rosa, Boyle to Terry, and Amy to Ray. But by the end, the person that didn't understand what the other was going through gained some perspective on the issue. I thought it was well done.
The Undoing (2020)
SPOILER ALERT - SHOW SUCKS BRO
So I've never written a review like this before in my entire life. But I felt like I had to do. I couldn't believe the whole show, you go through the whole thing, they do the mental dance with the characters... and it's the obvious guy at the end. They had so many different ways they could have taken it and it was the guy the whole time. I feel like someone was sitting there thinking they were so clever "guys.. everyone's doing big twists at the end and all this fancy stuff. What if we had it be the obvious guy all along. Like he totally did it, no twist whatsoever. Everyone's doing twist, I say no twist" and then a bunch of people also thought that was a good idea. I don't know, I don't see it.
