Renfield (2023)

An Absolute Blast From Beginning To End!!!

Ever since I saw the trailer for Renfield, I was super excited for it. I even watched Vampire's Kiss to get ready. After seeing the movie, it definitely lived up to my expectations. It was such a fun bloody blast! Filled with action, bloody gore, comedy, horror, and even nods to early classic Dracula movies. Nicholas Cage was great and over-the-top as Dracula. You can tell he was having a blast playing the character because it's been a childhood dream of his to play. I've seen a few people complain that Dracula didn't have much screentime in this movie, but it is Renfield's movie and personally, I thought Dracula had a very decent amount of screentime. At no point was I ever bored and never thought to myself "Ugh this is boring, where's Dracula?" (Actually, it seemed like Dracula had more screentime here than Michael Myers did in Halloween Ends) I was very invested in the characters. This review might contain some spoilers!

In the early days, R. M. Renfield travels to Dracula's castle in hopes to broker a deal for some land, but ends up becoming Dracula's familiar. He must help hide him during the day, cater to his every whim, and bring him innocent victims to snack on. In return for that, Dracula allows Renfield to eat bugs. Bugs somehow give him vampiric superhuman abilities.

90 years later in present day, Renfield has had enough of Dracula, and tries to break free of him. He goes to a self-help group, and buys his own place. One night at a restaurant, Renfield reluctantly gets entangled with the Lobo mafia family and police officer Rebecca Quincy. Renfield and Quincy start developing a friendship, meanwhile, Dracula becomes enraged with Renfield and sides with the Lobo family in trying to kill him. Renfield needs every bug, crucifix, gun, and holy water in order to not only take down the mafia, but Dracula himself.

Like I said, this movie was an absolute blast and I look forward to adding it to my horror collection and watching it many times in the future. I hope it becomes a cult classic! I would highly recommend RENFIELD!!!

Cocaine Bear (2023)

A Fun Bloody Cheesy Campy Blast That Needs To Be Seen With a Large Group of Friends!!!

I had such a fun experience with this movie! Please go see it with all your friends, and it'll make the experience that much better, or at least see it with a large crowd. The movie kinda starts a little slow because we're getting to meet and know all the characters, but the movie kicks in to high gear soon as the bear gets her cocaine fix.

You'll meet Sari, a mom who's trying to do right by her daughter, Dee Dee. Dee Dee and her friend, Henry decide to skip school and go explore the woods. Tracking down the cocaine are Daveed and Eddie. Eddie is the son of a major drug dealer named Syd (Played by the late Ray Liotta. Hot on their trail is an aged cop named Bob. Sari meets up with Rangers Liz and Peter in hopes of finding her daughter and friend. Got all that?

Now is where the fun begins! The bear finds bags of cocaine that was dropped from a plane and starts eating it and begins going crazy and has a rampage all over town. The ambulance scene was one of the best parts of the film. The film is gory, cheesy, campy, and fun; everything it sets out to do. So far, this has been of the better movies of 2023 and destined to become a cult classic. I would highly recommend COCAINE BEAR!!!

Friday the 13th Vengeance 2: Bloodlines (2022)

One of the Best Friday the 13th Fan Films yet!!!

In honor of having a Friday the 13th in January, I marathon'd all 12 Friday the 13th films. After I finished, I wanted more, so I re-watched Rose Blood by Peter Anthony and Vengeance 2: Bloodlines by Jason Brooks. I'm telling you, if you want a Friday the 13th film done right, you gotta check out their work. They're feature length movies, have decent characters, interesting story, and lots of blood, mayhem, and carnage from your favorite killer, Jason Voorhees.

Vengeance 2 takes place right where the original ended. Elias Voorhees is trying to resurrect Pamela with the Book of the Dead, and he needs the help of Angelica and Ashley Jarvis to do it. Angie and Ashley are still trying to look for their dad, Tommy Jarvis, who defeated Jason a long time ago in Part VI: Jason Lives. Vengeance 2 is filled with lots of awesome bloody kills that are fun to watch. If you love the Friday the 13th franchise, definitely check out VENGEANCE 2: BLOODLINES!!!

Halloween Ends (2022)

A Unique, Different, Intriguing and Satisfying Conclusion to the Halloween Franchise!!!

I've been a fan of the Halloween series since I was eight years old, and I always look forward to seeing a new film being made. It's like the 'Super Bowl' for me. I understood this one was going to be very different. Almost like 'Halloween III: Season of the Witch (which I love, by the way.) I tried watching it with an open mind.

The first time I watched it, I was a little iffy on a few things. I felt that Michael was portrayed as being too weak, but you gotta understand he's been shot, stabbed, and 65 years old in this timeline. He's getting some age on him, so I'll let it slide for now. I was very happy and satisfied with how it all ended.

I was intrigued by Rohan Campbell's character, Corey Cunningham, which is a nod and tribute to Arnie Cunningham from John Carpenter's Christine film by Stephen King. Corey is basically the main character of the movie. We follow his journey from seemingly innocent babysitter, to trying to become the next 'shape of evil' He's an interesting case study if you enjoy films like Taxi Driver, Joker, or Pearl.

Jamie Lee Curtis is great as always as Laurie Strode, the OG final girl. Laurie is definitely in a happier place in time at the start of Ends. She has gotten therapy and writing a memoir about her dealings with Michael Myers, but people in Haddonfield still place the blame on her.

The film starts in 2019, one year after the events of Halloween 2018 and Halloween Kills. We meet Corey Cunningham, who is babysitting a boy named Jeremy. During the night, something tragic happens, and all the blame is placed on Corey.

Three years later, Corey is still dealing with the trauma of what happened and the town of Haddonfield is still trying to heal from Michael's last rampage. Corey is taunted by bullies, and soon meets Laurie Strode. Knowing that they have shared trauma, she introduces him to her granddaughter, Allyson.

At its core, most of the movie becomes a weird psychotic love story with Corey and Allyson. They are fed up with how the townspeople have treated them and wanna 'burn it all down' They almost become like Bonnie & Clyde, or Joker and Harley Quinn.

When Corey is thrown over a rail by his bullies, he ends up in a sewer and has a face to face confrontation with Michael Myers, who has been living in the sewers the past four years, and slowly losing strength. This is where some Halloween fans may not like what happens because Michael and Corey almost help each other, give each other strength, and sorta kinda become partners.

I'll try not to say too much else, but if you can get behind the fact that Michael is older and weakened and Corey wants to become like him, then you might enjoy it. Just turn your brain off and don't overanalyze it.

Like I said earlier, I was happy and very satisfied with how it all ends. I also love that the font during the opening credits are the same as Halloween III, so it's saying right off the bat that it's trying to be different and stand on its own, which I respect. I'm sure we'll get more Halloween films down the road, but right now, this was the perfect way to end the series. Congratulations to everyone involved. I would highly recommend HALLOWEEN ENDS!!!

The Munsters (2022)

Silly Campy Fun!!!

This movie wasn't THAT bad! It's exactly what it wants to be; a fun silly tribute to classic Universal horror movies, and the original 1964 tv series. Rob Zombie absolutely loves the show, and I think he did a good job. Some of the jokes were kinda corny, and other jokes were better. Just turn your brain off and watch. All the actors did a good job. All the sets and costumes were on point.

A stereotypical mad scientist Dr. Henry Augustus Wolfgang and his hunchbacked assistant Floop rob graves for body parts to build an experimental creation. Floop is sent to get the brain of a genius, but ends up getting the brain of a dim-witted comedian. The experiment is a success and Herman Munster is born. Meanwhile, Lily is having trouble finding the man of her dreams. She soon sees Herman on tv and instantly falls in love. They meet and hit it off, much to the dismay of Lily's father, The Count, played by Dan Roebuck.

Herman and Lily have a cheesy 'date night' montage like karaoke night, getting tattoos, hanging out with Uncle Gilbert and watching Creature From the Black Lagoon' and eventually getting married. The movie doesn't have much of a plot. It's a big ol' love story with funny moments between Herman, Lily and The Count.

The ending felt a little rushed, but overall, I enjoyed it. If you love the original series, I would recommend ROB ZOMBIE'S THE MUNSTERS!!!

Pearl (2022)

Mia Goth Deserves to Win an Award for her Phenomenal Performance as the Psychotic Pearl!!!

Wow, this was a really good horror movie. It definitely deserves to win an Award, especially after seeing Mia Goth's performance as Pearl, an unstable woman who is sheltered on the farm with her domineering mother and invalid father. Her husband is overseas, fighting in World War I and she aspires to be a famous dancer/actress. The movie is such an interesting case study, and Goth is great to watch. It's intriguing to see what Pearl will do at any given minute. One minute, she's quirky and cute and talking to farm animals. The next minute, she's making out with a scarecrow. Then she could be yelling at someone, and looks like she's about to kill them. It's like the female version of Joker and Taxi Driver, set in the 1900's.

60 years before the events of X, we meet Pearl, a woman who aspires to be great and become famous, but she's trapped at her parent's boring farmhouse. She makes friends with a projectionist at the local theater, who promises to take her away to Europe. Her sister in law, Mitsy tells her about a dance competition at the church, and she's determined to win.

As time goes on, she slowly descends further into madness and won't let anyone get in the way of her dreams. If you love period horror films and psychotic women, I would highly recommend PEARL!!!

The Brain That Wouldn't Die (2020)

A Hilarious Tribute to the Original 1962 Campy Classic!!!

Ironically, I watched the remake a day after seeing the original in its entirety for the first time. It's an almost shot-for-shot remake, but they poke fun of its predecessor throughout, while also showing respect. I loved all the nods to the original, and they even show clips from other cheesy classic films in the background. Everybody did a great job. (It was also fun to see the late great Robert Blanche as a Joe Friday-esque detective trying to figure out what's going on. I had seen him in 'Leverage' and I was happy to see take a more comedic role before his passing.)

Dr. Bill Cortner is a brilliant doctor who has almost perfected a way to bring the dead back to life. After a tragic car accident decapitates his fiancé, he's able to keep the head alive and breathing until he can find the body of another woman to take her place.

While Bill goes out at night in search of a body, Jan in the pan makes friends with Bill's monster-like creature trapped in a room within the basement, and together, they will seek revenge against Bill.

If you love campy movies that spoof campy movies, you'll love THE BRAIN THAT WOULDN'T DIE!!!

The Black Phone (2021)

One of the Best Horror Films of the Year!!!

I honestly think The Black Phone is one of the best, and most original horror films of 2022. I love that it takes place in 1978, because that's the year my all-time favorite movie, Halloween came out. It definitely has that Stephen King vibe, because the book it's based on was written by King's son, Joe Hill. There are some great nostalgic moments, like the characters watching and talking about movies and tv shows from the 70's. Mason Thames was really good as the main lead, Finney, a young teen who gets picked on by bullies. Madeleine McGraw was great as Finney's sister, Gwen, who has psychic powers and has to deal with their drunk abusive dad. Ethan Hawke was great and terrifying as the psychotic 'Grabber' who kidnaps teens and brings them to his basement to torture them.

One day, Finney is taken by The Grabber and locked in the basement, with nothing but a bed, and a black phone connected to the wall that doesn't work. Before long, Finney begins to receive phone calls from the ghosts of the kids that were taken. One by one, the ghosts try to help Finney escape and give him clues to get out of the room before he becomes the Grabber's next victim. If you love psychological and supernatural horror movies from the 1970's, I would highly recommend THE BLACK PHONE!!!

Orphan: First Kill (2022)

A Great Worthy Prequel to the Original. Esther is Back With a Vengeance!!!

It's been a long time since I had seen the original Orphan, so I decided to rewatch it twice to get ready. After two viewings of the new film, I think it was a great worthy addition and just as good as the original. They make a great double feature. Isabelle Fuhrman is back as Esther and she totally kills it and does a phenomenal job in the role she was born to play. It's weird, that you know Esther is a psychopathic middle aged woman pretending to be a child, but at times in this film, you almost side with her. That's all I'll say without giving away too much. Even though Esther is supposed to look 10 years old, you can obviously tell that Fuhrman is older now and they did their best to try to make her look the same with makeup, and camera angles to make the actors look taller than her. Other than that, you kinda start to go along with it.

Two years before the original 2009 film, we meet Leena Klammer, a psychotic woman with a rare hormonal disorder that stunted her physical growth and caused proportional dwarfism, and she has spent most of her life posing as a little girl. She tries to break out of the Saarne Institute and wants to infiltrate a family missing their child. She stumbles on a picture of a missing girl named Esther, so she assumes her identity and goes to live with the family missing her.

Before long, the family begins to see that something is clearly wrong with 'Esther' so they try to find out her secret, or face the deadly consequences. Once again, I very much enjoyed this film. I hope they release it on blu-ray someday, and somehow make a 3rd film. If you love the original, I highly recommend ORPHAN: FIRST KILL!!!

Roustabout (1964)

Elvis Goes to the Carnival!!!

This was a decent Elvis flick. I saw a clip from this one time when my dad was watching it. It was the scene where Elvis drives his motorcycle round and round. After watching so many Elvis movies, you start to see a pattern, and he basically plays a scoundrel in this one. He goes after two women, and takes towels from women that are showering. Elvis plays Charlie Rogers, a singer from a coffee shop who gets into a fight and is immediately fired. After an accident with the owner of a traveling carnival, he reluctantly works at the carnival til his bike is fixed. Til then, he randomly sings to get people interested in the games, and pervs around on the gypsy and the daughter of the owner. If you wanna see Elvis at the carnival, I would recommend ROUSTABOUT!!!

King Creole (1958)

King Creole Should've Won 'Best Picture' in 1958!!!

I feel like this could've been up for an Academy Award, because it has a more serious darker tone than other Elvis flicks. It felt epic, and had a bluesy film-noir feel to it. Walter Matthau made a great villain, and I felt so bad for Carolyn Jones's character.

Elvis stars as Danny Fisher, a young man who works before school to help support his family. One day, he gets in a fight, and he's not allowed to graduate until he completes night school. He becomes involved with a gang who shoplift a five and dime store. The gang works for Maxie Fields, the big boss in town who owns almost everything and everyone, except the King Creole nightclub, where Danny begins to sing at. Maxie wants him to quit and work for him. When he rejects Maxie, he sends his goons after him and Ronnie (Jones) Will Elvis be able to dodge Maxie and his men? If you love Elvis and dramatic thrillers, I would highly recommend KING CREOLE!!!

It Happened at the World's Fair (1963)

Fun at the World's Fair!!!

This was a pretty good Elvis flick. After watching so many of his movies in a row, you begin to see a pattern, almost like the Hallmark Christmas movies; Elvis shows up, randomly sings, sees a beautiful woman, and makes it his mission in life to seduce her, but this time, it's at the World's Fair. Elvis plays Mike, a crop-dusting pilot who is broke and just had his plane taken away. He and his business partner are hitchhiking and picked up by a Chinese man and his niece named Sue-Lin. Sue-Lin is wanted to go to the fair, so Mike offers to take her. He meets a nurse named Diane, and he eventually has himself injured, just so he can see her.

Sue-Lin's uncle soon goes missing, so Mike has to look after her til he's found. It kinda reminded me of Adam Sandler's Big Daddy movie. If you're an Elvis fan, you'll definitely enjoy IT HAPPENED AT THE WORLD'S FAIR!!!

Kissin' Cousins (1964)

One of the Weakest Elvis Movies!!!

I was a little disappointed with this one. I thought a movie where Elvis has a twin would be more fun, but it was too much like The Beverly Hillbillies, crossed with Game of Thrones (if you know what I mean) This time, Elvis plays an Army officer named Josh, and for some reason, the Army wants to build a missile site on his kinfolk's land. The whole time, he has to convince his cousins to do it, while fending off random crazy hyper women living in the woods. I probably wouldn't recommend KISSIN' COUSINS!!!

Girl Happy (1965)

Elvis at His Comedic Best!!!

This was another really decent Elvis flick. It almost feels like a sitcom, with all the funny situations he gets in, while trying to keep his boss's daughter away from sleazy men. Elvis stars as a nightclub singer named Rusty and he and his crew work for a mafia type boss named Big Frank. When Frank's beautiful daughter, Valerie goes to Florida with her friends on vacation, Frank makes Rusty and his band go and keep an eye on her, which of course is easier said than done. Along the way, Elvis falls in love with her, but how will she react when she finds out that her dad hired him to keep tabs on her? If you love Elvis and beach musicals, I would highly recommend GIRL HAPPY!!!

Viva Las Vegas (1964)

This one was pretty good. This time around, Elvis plays a race car driver, who needs a new motor for his car. While waiting to have it fixed, he takes in the sights, randomly sings, and meets a beautiful woman named Rusty, who he tries to seduce. They soon become competitive in the hotel's talent show, in hopes of winning big money. When he gets his car fixed up, there's a huge race all across Vegas. If you love Elvis and Vegas, I would recommend VIVA LAS VEGAS!!!

Change of Habit (1969)

One of the Better Elvis Movies!!!

I've watched about 9 Elvis movies so far, and this has been one of the better ones. It has a decent storyline, and you get Mary Tyler Moore, from The Dick Van Dyke Show. This time, Elvis plays Dr. John Carpenter (No, not the director of Halloween, ha ha) Moore plays Michelle Gallagher, a nun who is disguised as a nurse, along with two other nun friends. They want to work with Dr. Carpenter at his free clinic, in hopes of helping people and making a difference. One weird scene in particular was Dr. Carpenter trying to help a kid with autism and holding her and making her hit him to see how mad she can get, in hopes of making her better. They have to deal with mafia type men, and a guy with serious anger issues. This is definitely in my top 5 Elvis movies so far. I would highly recommend CHANGE OF HABIT!!!

I've been binge-watching Elvis movies since the new 2022 film came out. I was interested to see this one because he plays a boxer. Elvis plays Walter Gulick, a young man just out of the Army and looking for work. He stumbles into a small town, and asked to work at a gym as a sparring partner. The owner sees potential in him to become a big-time boxer, but some mafia types want him to throw the big fight. If you love Elvis and boxing, I would recommend KID GALAHAD!!!

After the new 2022 Elvis movie came out, my obsession with Elvis resurfaced, so I decided to start watching his movies, and this is the first one I started with. It was pretty good. I thought it was weird that Elvis and his family just decided to live on side of the road by the beach. Elvis is kind of a dim-witted Sheriff, but he still gets the job done. People try to evict them and tear their family apart, but Elvis ain't having that. If you're a fan of Elvis, I would recommend FOLLOW THAT DREAM!!!

Elvis (2022)

An Amazing Film, Fit For a 'King'!!!

As a child, I was raised on Elvis music, because my parents were from the 50's, so I've always felt like an outsider because hardly anyone my age loves and appreciates Elvis music. I was pretty excited for this movie, and it definitely delivered! It gave me everything I wanted; iconic music, the beautiful look of the 60's, the sets, the costumes, the detail, and the acting. Austin Butler was downright amazing, phenomenal, and superb as the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley! He looks and sounds just like him, it's uncanny. Tom Hanks was a decent villain and almost over the top hokey as Elvis's evil corrupt manager, Colonel Tom Parker. He's almost like a caricature of Boss Hogg or one of the villains from the films Elvis made.

We see Elvis's childhood, visiting African American churches and loving their gospel music, to his first appearance and causing an uproar with the way he moves, to his time in the Army, to buying Graceland, to meeting Priscilla, to starring in Hollywood movies, to performing in Vegas and dealing with addiction. This movie deserves to be seen on the big screen in a packed theater. It was definitely a great experience. I can't wait to see it again. If you're an Elvis fanatic, I would definitely recommend ELVIS!!!

The Fall of Camp Blood (2022)

Everything You Could Want in a Friday the 13th Movie; Jason, Blood, Guts, Nostalgia and Easter Eggs!!!

Over the last few years, we have gotten some awesome new Friday the 13th content in the form of fan films, such as Vengeance, Voorhees, Jason Rising, Rose Blood and now The Fall of Camp Blood. This movie serves as a direct sequel to The Final Chapter, taking place one year later. Riley Lorden did a great job writing and directing. Peter Anthony did a great job as James Dier, the brother to Rob from The Final Chapter and Sandra from Part 2. Fall of Camp Blood really feels like the earlier F13 installments; a bunch of young kids go out to the middle of nowhere to party, and Jason shows up to kill them all one by one.

Set in the year 1985, Fall of Camp Blood is a continuation of The Final Chapter. We see Jason rushed to the hospital, trying to be revived, but the Sheriff ain't having it, so he has his Deputy try to hijack the ambulance and get rid of Jason once and for all, but it's too late.

James Dier (played brilliantly by Peter Anthony) is on the war path and thirsty for Jason's blood as he looks for the man responsible for killing his brother and sister.

Meanwhile, Steve, Courtney and a group of their friends go out to Crystal Lake to party before it gets demolished, but of course, Jason loves being a party crasher.

As I said, this movie is filled with nostalgia and fun little Easter eggs if you're a hardcore Friday the 13th fan. The music score is great too! The ending is actually pretty shocking, that I didn't see coming, but I don't dare spoil it for you. Congratulations again and great job to everyone involved and thanks for keeping the series going. Can't wait to see Vengeance Part 2: Bloodlines. I would highly recommend THE FALL OF CAMP BLOOD!!!

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)

Leatherface is Back With a Vengeance to Deliver Bloody Brutal 'Popcorn Movie' Violence!!!

Even though 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' isn't my very favorite slasher series, I was really looking forward to this movie, because I love slashers and sequels in general. When I very first watched it, I mostly liked it, but there were two things that bugged me. After going back and watching it again and knowing what to expect, I enjoyed and appreciated it much more. For this movie, you need to just turn your brain off, and enjoy the carnage! It was a fun watch and screaming at the screen when characters make dumb decisions. Leatherface is supposed to be at least 70 years old now, but he can still run while carrying a heavy chainsaw and won't die, even after being shot several times. It makes no sense, but that's why I love it! It's cheesy in the best way!

The movie takes place about 50 years after the original 1974 classic. (None of the other sequels exist, just like Halloween 2018) Some young social media influencers/entrepreneurs named Melody, Lila, Dante, and Ruth are going to a ghost town in Harlow, Texas to fix it up and make it livable again. Melody and her sister, Lila have a strained relationship because Lila was attacked during a school shooting and Melody is extremely overprotective of her.

When they arrive in town, they find an orphanage, still inhabited by an elderly lady. They basically try to kick her out and she begins having seizures. On the way to the hospital, she dies, which angers Leatherface and he's soon up to his old tricks again. He decides to bring out his trusty chainsaw and begins slaughtering them all.

Sally Hardesty, the original survivor comes back and tries to put an end to Leatherface once and for all. Personally, I wasn't too happy how they handled her character.

Probably the main highlight of the movie is the bus scene they show in the trailer. All the teens try to 'cancel' Leatherface, but he ain't having it and turns into John Wick with a chainsaw.

If you love the series, and slashers in general, I would definitely recommend TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE!!!

Last Night in Soho (2021)

A Beautiful and Visual Feast For the Eyes!!!

This movie has a little bit of everything I love; horror, thriller, mystery, ghosts, ghouls, creatures, gorgeous set designs when it comes to recreating the 1960's, and the music from the 60's itself. That's the kind of music I grew up with, so I can relate to the leading girl, in that respect. Thomasin McKenzie stars as Eloise 'Ellie' Turner, who aspires to be a fashion designer in London. She doesn't fit in because she's shy, quiet, and appreciates 1960's music.

When she moves to a little apartment uptown, she begins having visions and dreams during the night, where she is transported back to 1960's London and begins to enjoy it. She comes across Sandy, a beautiful blonde who wants to be a singer in a high-class club. She begins watching her story unfold, but Ellie soon realizes not everything in the 1960's were peaches and cream.

The dreams start to become her reality as she begins seeing ghosts/ghouls/creatures in present day, following her and stalking her at every turn. Ellie must solve the mystery about what happened to Sandy and why the creatures are stalking her if she wants to keep hold of her reality and sanity.

I can't stress enough just how gorgeous and beautiful this movie is to look that. Edgar Wright did a great job and I hope this movie wins awards. I would highly recommend LAST NIGHT IN SOHO!!!

Rose Blood: A Friday the 13th Fan Film (2021)

A Great New Friday the 13th Fan Film That's Filled With 80's Nostalgia, Pulp, Easter Eggs and Plenty of Gore!!!

The fans are absolutely killing it with these fan films. The studios don't care about us, so these directors have stepped up and given us some awesome new Friday the 13th content. We've had some really good ones so far such as Vengeance, Voorhees, Jason Rising, and now we get Rose Blood. Rose Blood is a direct sequel to Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood. We even get Lar Park-Lincoln back as Tina Shepard, Kevin Spirtas as Nick, and Terry Kiser as Dr. Crews. The cast and crew did a great job with this film. Director Peter Anthony knows what the audience wants and gave us 100% his vision. I felt like this is how it would be if Quentin Tarantino directed a Friday the 13th movie, because there is a lot of story and character development before Jason Voorhees shows up, and when he does, he comes in with a bang! The last 20 minutes is a slaughterhouse filled with awesome gore and groovy practical effects. The movie is also filled with great nostalgia such as 1980's action movie posters in the background and some of the characters play Nintendo games. Another nice touch is they play some of the music from 'The New Blood'

Jessica Hottman stars as a young Tina Shepard. One year after killing Jason in Part VII: The New Blood, Tina has been taken to the Camp Crysyal Lake Research Facility and being kept for observation. One day, the F. A. A. S. T. Team, led by the evil General Brackbower, bring in a new girl named Rose, played by Sanae Loutsis. Tina and Rose begin a friendship over a month while the scientists study her. They claim Rose has special powers that are even more powerful than Tina's. Also brought in to the mix, is the character of Creighton Duke, who was in Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday.

After a long anticipated build-up, Jason Voorhees is finally resurrected and goes on a bloody rampage at the Crystal Lake Facility. As I said earlier, the gore and special effects were top notch. Jason looks just like he did in Part VII and he's brutal! It's up to Tina and Rose to stop this monster once and for all!

Jessica Hottman and Sanae Loutsis were great in their roles and they had good chemistry together. You'll gasp in excitement when you see Rose's power! I helped back this on Indiegogo and I'm glad I did. Kudos to Peter Anthony and his awesome cast and crew. Everybody did a terrific job and I can't wait to see more. The movie is available for free right now on Youtube. If you love Friday the 13th, I highly recommend ROSE BLOOD: A FRIDAY THE 13TH FAN FILM!!!

Home Sweet Home Alone (2021)

Finally, a Worthy Addition to the Home Alone Franchise!!!

Yes, I actually liked the movie. I'm giving it a high rating, so go ahead and be a troll and give me a thumbs down and tell me my review isn't helpful because yall don't agree with me.

When I saw the trailer, I did roll my eyes and didn't care much for the kid, but when I watched it, he grew on me a little bit. This new installment in the Home Alone series (We're up to the 6th one now) is a LOT better then the previous two films, but it's still not as good as the original. To me, this feels like the true 'Home Alone 3' because one of the original stars from the originals makes an appearance, and they use the classic John Williams theme music. I was intrigued by the story, and it managed to make me feel nostalgic, especially when they play 'Somewhere in my Memory' This time, we get to know the burglars, and come to care for them and why they're doing the robbing.

Meet Pam and Jeff McKenzie, a down-on-their-luck couple who have to sell their house because it's getting too expensive to live there. They haven't told their children yet. During an open house, they run into 10-year old Max Mercer and his mom, Carol. They're only there because Max needed to stop and use the bathroom. On the way out, Max notices an ugly doll with an upside-down face. Max and Jeff have words over it and they finally leave. That night, Jeff researches the doll and finds that it's extremely rare and worth a lot. The only problem is that the doll is now missing.

The next day, Max's family is on the way to the airport to Japan, and of course, Max gets left home alone. He reacts the same way Kevin McCallister did, then he gets bored and lonely. Pam and Jeff assume that Max took the doll, and track him to his house and try to get it back. Max unfortunately misunderstands their intentions and begins his battle plan to strike back against the burglars.

I honestly feel that this movie is worthy of the Home Alone name. It gave me nostalgic feels like the first two, it has the classic John Williams music and it gave me a few laughs. I wouldn't mind watching it again. There are other easter eggs and nods to the original classic, too. If you love the franchise, I would highly recommend HOME SWEET HOME ALONE!!!

The Stylist (I) (2020)

A Very Creepy Intriguing Psychological Case Study That Deserves More Recognition!!!

On a whim, I decided to buy the blu-ray of The Stylist, and I'm glad I did. I thought it was very entertaining, very creepy, very beautiful, great cinematography, chilling ending, and the actress that played Claire, Najarra Townsend was absolutely great in the role. Her character of Claire is a great psychological case study, similar to Joaquin Phoenix in Joker, Robert De Niro in Taxi Driver, and Joe Spinell in Maniac. Townsend deserves awards for this role, she is just great to watch. She's psychotic, but socially awkward. She goes from crying, then laughing while wearing somebody's scalp in the span of two minutes.

Claire is a brilliant hair stylist who is awkward, but randomly kills some of her clients, scalps them, and takes the scalps back to her lair so she can wear them and pretend to be somebody else.

One day, she gets a call from her client, Olivia, who is getting married soon and needs her hair fixed immediately. Olivia is played by Brea Grant, from Rob Zombie's Halloween II. After fixing her hair, Claire and Olivia slowly start a friendship, and it's sad to see Claire so awkward, but trying hard to fit in with her. Eventually, she becomes obsessed with her, to the point of trying to text her everyday and even breaking into her house and tries on her clothes. In a weird way, you feel sorry for her, even though she's a psychopath.

I understand this is a passion project for the director, Jill Gevargizian. She directed a short film of The Stylist before turning it into a feature length film. Everybody needs to stop what they're doing and show this woman some love and support her films. I'd like to see a sequel someday. I highly recommend THE STYLIST!!!
