The Boogeyman (2023)
Stranger Things Has a Baby With Lights Out
Worth watching and even paying for. I wish I had seen it in theaters but unfortunately I read some reviews first.
The good:
-Great visual quality in terms of effects, lighting, etc.
-Scary jumps, scary sound effects, mostly engaging.
-The creature itself is creepy and ominous.
-The acting is pretty good. Of course its not going to have Oscar level acting but its good for a horror.
The bad:
-It's a terrible title. They should have named the creature something else.
-It should have connected the scenes better and made an overarching plot more visible.
-Too unoriginal.
-Not horrible but also not the best character development.
Locke & Key (2020)
Love it but...
I loved season 1 and 2.
Don't watch Season 3. It breaks the rules set up around the magic, the echoes, and half the premise. The acting is worse than the first couple seasons for some strange reason. I am so confused about why it deteriorated like this.
I need to fill six hundred characters for this review to be accepted so I'm filling in spaces with this extra long, annoying sentence or two right at the end even as I really need to go to the bathroom and just want to get this submitted. Also I need to go walk my dogs so I really hope these six hundred characters fill up more quickly but wow this is taking forever, kinda like watching the 3rd season of this show. Seriously, 1st and second are great but the third needs to have the memory key used on it and buried out in the back 40 with Duncan's memories.
Ted Lasso (2020)
Simple, yet complex. Phenomenal.
Ted Lasso will restore your faith in humanity. Perfect blend of humor and drama. This is all about human relationships and how being a genuinely good person can change those around you for the better.
This may not be for you if you despise a good pun. :)
Finch (2021)
Just boring.
Tom Hanks is a good actor but man I can't say that he redeems this movie. Just boring. Very little to the plot. If you need something playing in the background while you take a nap, this is for you.. Don't get your hopes up.
The Mosquito Coast (2021)
Watched Full Season 1 - Writers Seem Lost
It feels like the writers have no idea where they want this to go. There's a recurring moment where the family is about to say what's actually happening but then that conversation doesn't happen. It feels like either a lazy way to get you to keep watching or that the writers really haven't even decided what the history of the family even is.
I won't be continuing with Season 2 if they make it but if I did, I would be rooting for everyone to die. No likable characters at all. Character development is bland.
A main character in Mexico has a southern US accent and you can tell he barely knows any Spanish. His Spanish accent is terrible, terrible. How about hire actual native Spanish speakers to portray Spanish speaking Mexicans?
