Survivor (2001)
HORRIBLE. Usually it's the US that butcher remakes of UK shows.
I've seen every English language Survivor season. This is horrible.
It's as if it was made by people who never watched the show and certainly don't understand what makes it popular.
The players aren't interesting or people you want to watch.
The host, Joel Dommett, is annoying. His little voice is like fingernails across a chalkboard. And unfortunately, he really likes to talk. To make matters worse, they have him doing voice overs to narrate and explain things.
Instead of using the typical Survivor instrumental music, there are CONSTANT vomit inducing pop songs and cover versions of pop songs.
The paper they vote on looks like cheap toilet tissue that has seen action.
From the big things to little things, this UK series is horrible and should be marooned on an island and left for dead.
LOL: Last One Laughing South Africa (2024)
Shockingly horrible
I've watched other series of this show. I didn't find them "LOL" funny but they were at least entertaining.
This South Africa series is not even slightly amusing or entertaining. I only made it through three episodes and couldn't believe how bad it was. It's embarrasingly bad.
These are supposed to be comedians or funny people?
I really don't understand how this got released. People had to know this was not going well as it was being made. And they definitely had to know it was awful when it was over. No editing could save this. Nothing could save this mess.
I don't know how any of this people had careers before this travesty but they might not when people see this.
Lego Masters (2020)
They have no confidence that the building process is entertaining
The contrived drama and the constant cheesy "comedy" bits kill this show.
They try to turn everything into a big dramatic and suspenseful moment. They can't just go to a commercial. They have to find something to turn into a life or death situation.
Also, count how many times the contestants break out into applause like trained seals. They've obviously been told to clap to create a sense of "energy" and enthusiasm.
I won't say much about the cringe worthy humor. But they obviously don't think the creative process and building process is entertaining enough and need to constantly try to be funny.
Lego Masters seems to be made to appeal to 8 year olds.
The Horne Section TV Show (2022)
Huge disappointment
I expected to like this. I really wanted to like this. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment.
I love taskmaster. I love the Horne Section podcast. I love their TV special from 2018. I was really surprised at how much that I disliked this series. I struggled to get through all the episodes.
The sitcom element is just horrible. The series is basically just a bad sitcom. They should have stuck to some kind of variety show with interviews, games, and songs like their podcast (and their 2018 TV special).
I really hate to say it but I didn't find this series entertaining, interesting or funny.
Turning Red (2022)
Not a Pixar movie that's for everyone
I knew nothing about this film going into it. If I did, I wouldn't have tried watching it. It's clearly aimed at young girls... which is great if you're a young girl.
Themes aside, I didn't find it funny or entertaining. The whole boy band music stuff is stomach churning. But again, I'm not a young girl.
Also, the girl's mother...wow. She's such an unlikable character. I couldn't stand her. I kept hoping the daughter would change into the panda and maul her.
Toast of Tinseltown (2022)
Disappointing. Moving location was a mistake.
Moving the location of the show was a mistake. They move Toast to Hollywood but then because they still want some of the regular series' characters in the show, they have to find dumb ways to have them show up. There was no point in changing location.
Also, you would think the guest stars would really bring something great to the show. They don't.
Toast's new agent who works out of her car is incredibly annoying. It was as if she was from another show... a horribly unfunny show.
Overall, this series was really disappointing. It just wasn't the same funny series it used to be.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
Sign of a bad story? When they need to make characters idiots that defy normal human behavior
The girl sees chess pieces move by themselves. Is she astonished? Does she immediately tell people? Nah. It's no big deal.
The kids and Paul Rudd open a ghost trap they found and a ghost flies out. Are they astonished? Do they immediately tell people? Nah. It's no big deal.
A ghost roams the streets eating signs, mailboxes, and other stuff all while not being seen. It's no big deal.
A ghost is chased through the streets by a kid driving a car at 60-70 mph while another kid shoots a laser beam which rips through buildings and everything it touches. Somehow, no one is out in the streets. No one comes out to see what's happening. The kids are eventually caught by the cops for "destroying half the town" (the chiefs words) but of course they're allowed to go right home and there's no shock over they they did.
And what about the incredible events in NYC in the 80s with a huge marshmallow guy, ghosts, and gods from an other dimension that almost destroyed the world? Surely this was the most incredible thing to have happened in the history of mankind. Nah. The kids today aren't really familiar with those events.
There's something wrong with your movie when you have to make characters consistently stupid and make them behave so far outside the way normal human beings would.
Army of the Dead (2021)
Dumb characters I didn't care about doing dumb things
The movie is too long.
Also, I didn't care about the characters no matter how many times they stopped in the middle of what was a time sensitive situation to have some dumb heart to heart talk.
Waste of time.
Midnight Mass (2021)
Midnight Snooze
This series should absolutely not be seven episodes. This is maybe 4 episodes of story dragged out over nearly 7 hours. Someone needs to do a fan edit and this would be a watchable series.
The characters endless monologues are excruciatingly boring. Speaking of the characters, I didn't care about them. I didn't like them. I didn't hate them. I just found them boring and completely uninteresting. Probably because each time one opened their mouth it wasn't long before I wanted them to shut up.
The only way I was able to get through this series is to watch very little of it. I Googled episode recaps and read them. When I got to something that seemed interesting and eventful in the recap, I found that spot in the episode and watched it. I maybe watched 10 minutes of each episode.
Ojing-eo geim (2021)
I had to skip through parts to make it to the end
Forget about people complaining about the acting of the VIP characters, the acting overall was bad. It was distracting, took you out of the scene and was unintentionally humorous.
I didn't care much for the characters. I wasn't interest in them. They obviously wanted you to care about the old man but frankly I found him annoying and was hoping he would die and get off the screen ASAP.
One of the big "reveals" you can see coming a mile away. The other, you likely won't see coming but I didn't care much when it happened.
I wouldn't have made it through the series if I didn't fast forward and skip boring parts... and there were quite a few.
The Last Leg (2012)
Replace Hills, Brooker and Widdecombe
The best thing I can say about the show is they get good guests although sometimes they don't get to say much.
Hills is a generic host. He's not funny. He comes off as someone who won a contest to host and he's trying really hard to be cheerful and deliver his lame hacky jokes.
Brooker seems to be there so they can make constant jokes about people with disabilities.
Brooker and Widdecombe's main purpose is to provide fake laughter for Hills. Their constant cracking up at everything that comes out of Hills' mouth becomes distracting because you know they don't find it that hilarious. Besides, it's mostly scripted and you know they've heard that crap in rehearsals.
They also do written sketches sometimes that are just embarrassing.
Search Party (2016)
Unlikable, annoying characters
It's hard to care about the characters because they're so annoying and unlikable. From the first episode I hated most of the characters. I watched season one because of the central mystery. But I didn't care about what happened to anyone and I wasn't interested in the lives of these people.
This is probably a great show for someone who watches the Kardashians and doesn't find them deplorable wastes of human life. Some people can watch shows with horrible annoying people and find them entertaining and funny.
