Five feet apart? I with the characters In this film were six feet UNDER! This movie made me WISH I was six feet under. Save your time and don't watch this.
1- this type of movie is NOTHING new, it has been done over and over again e.g. Fault in our stars, ps I love you etc (at least that one has Hilary swank) and it is always boring and downright uncomfortable to watch. Never has any film made me cringe as much as this one.
2- the only alright (well he was still an annoying wee brat but compared to the others he was more or less gold) character (po) died :( only vaguely entertaining part of this film died to further the "development" of the annoying main character which brings me to point 3,
3- unlikable characters. The 2 main protagonists in this film are a PAAAAIIN to watch. The girl makes a stupid and selfish decision at the end and in general is annoying and self righteous with a SEVERE case of main character syndrome, think meadow soprano but sick with a solo film. Sounds like murder to watch right? The boy is a rude, reckless idiot. Make a great pair don't they.
In general unlikable main characters are alright to watch, so long as there are other characters in the film that are likeable or cool, like lots of films and tv shows with unlikable characters (buffy past season 3, Rory Gilmore, Daenerys Targaryen to name a few) but when scenes are just so boring and when ALL the characters in the film are it is just a pain to watch and also the fact that it's a film means there isn't a huge amount of time for character development (still not an excuse for no development or growth it's A FILM!! The movie industry has been achieving development within relatively short films, much shorter than this, for decades) but still they're so annoying.
The acting is.... Awful. The girl was meh at best I thought but I could look past it she was alright to watch just the character was a brat, just because you have a serious illness or disease doesn't give you the right to act like that. But the BOY!! To me at least.... Was not. I've said my peace. Should've stayed with Disney.
It's a shame because the premise of the story a teenager growing up with cystic fibrosis could've been okay, maybe if they made it about her difficulties with her family, the loss of her sister and the possibility that she might DIE?? Maybe if they focussed the film on her mother instead and get a view on what it would be like to see your child in and out of hospital all her life and potentially facing death after the loss of her other child, could maybe make her overprotective of her and explore the problems that would bring, but no. They made it into a cringy teenage romance. I can't believe they think teenagers like this sort of thing.

Romance films can be amazing like boys don't cry, crazy rich Asians, Palm Springs and although everyone I know think it's not a romance I think fight club is the best romance ever made so check that out if you've never seen it.
