The Curse of La Llorona (2019)
Poorly paced snooze-fest
This movie has an okay premise and a solid cast, so this should have been a decent one time watch at least.
But between rushed exposition, seeing way too much of the evil entity (and I've seen Halloween costumes better than that) early on, repetitive jump scares and an annoyingly screechy score, it turns into a very tedious viewing experience very quickly.
Crawlspace (2016)
I'm sure you can find something better to do for 88 minutes
A predictable 'someone's living inside the walls' horror thriller, that suffers from a weak script, one dimensional characters, and clumsy direction. Not even a hint of tension or intrigue at any moment of its runtime.
I got the impression that the makers of this movie aimed for something like "Housebound" (or maybe "The Boy") but made it bland, un-funny, and rapey.
The only positive thing is that the cat - that vanishes halfway through the movie - doesn't die.
Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee (2012)
Just painful to watch
This show should be named 'comedians being made deeply uncomfortable by an obnoxious old sexist, who likes hearing himself talk'.
Final Girl (2015)
Artsy look but zero substance
SPOILERS!
After the death of her parents, a young girl with a personality disorder gets recruited by some shady organisation who trains her to be a professional killer. 12 years later, girl is well on her way to that and has a crush on her handler/instructor. At the same time, a group of entitled psycho douchebags likes to hunt down and kill young women. Girl gets tasks with killing them. A lot of talking happens. Girl kills douchebags.
And that's it. Not nearly enough story to fill 84 minutes. It doesn't get interesting, much less thrilling, at any point.
There are some decent actors in this movie, but they aren't given much to work with.
The visual style might appeal to some viewers, to me it look very stilted and pretentious. I strongly suspect the director is a David Lynch fan.
