The Green Knight (2021)
slow burning, stunning and engaging
Captivating, moody and melancholic. The Green Knight is a slow burning and engaging experience. Dev Patel is fantastic as the flawed hero, the cinematography is gorgeous and production design + costumes are too. Mixed feelings about the ambiguous/cereberal ending but overall a fabulous film I recommend.
Eye Without a Face (2021)
cool take on classics
I'm a fan of Hitchock, De Palma classics and newer horror like A Quiet Place and Hereditary. This film shines. Great actors and great looking film. The movie has some clear references to horror suspense classics but in an original way. But you have to have patience to get into the film it has a slow build.
Some people say Dakota Shapiro (Henry) is like the new Anthony Perkins and I agree.
The Babadook (2014)
dark and complex depiction of grief
The Babadook is a complex depiction of grief and trauma, in ways I did not expect when I saw it. I thought it'd be like a typical scary horror with a monster or ghost or something but it ended up being much deeper. I found it visually gorgeous in a muted, haunting sort of way. Highly recommend this movie.
The Den (2013)
thrilling take on technology
I found this film really unique in how it depicted technology. Really cool and innovative.
