Full Circle (2023)

Do not waste your time

Impressive cast, terrible story. It is impossible to connect the dots in this awful story. There are so many improbable facts thrown in along the way that the viewer is just left flummoxed. The only twist they didn't use was intergalactic aliens.

The story had the feel of Your Honor without the quality of the writing. The characters are generally unlikable but none more so than the main protagonist who is an absolute psychopath but allegedly a psychopath for good. Although it is clear she isn't on the side of angels either.

All is all unless you enjoy being frustrated but silly plot twist I would not recommend you watch this horrible Ed Woodesque "mystery".

A Ghost Story (2017)

Great concept AWFUL execution

This is the cinematic equivalent of being stuck at a party with a long winded bore. Every scene is prolonged for no good reason. I thought some obnoxious NYU film student, who wanted to "create tension" directed this film.

Have way through the movie I was convinced it was a bad parody of Demi Moore's movie Ghost. That movie at least moved along. Once the two ghost waves at each other I was convinced this movie was a joke.

I am convinced the director made this movie, as a joke, to see how many pretentious people would claim it was a brilliant master piece that common people don't get. This is a real waste of time. Watching paint dry is more enjoyable.

St. Elmo's Fire (1985)

A GenX classic

Based on the other reviews maybe this movie only appeals to the older end of Gen-X. St. Elmo's was a reflection of the times for the leading edge of my generation. Coming of age in the 80s was a unique experience and this movie completely and accurately depicted the feelings of many of us at that time. We were all caught between the greed of the yuppies and the already obvious reality that conspicuous consumption was very unfulfilling.

I knew all of the characters in the movie. To this day I still call my oldest friend Kirby. Even now when I hear the theme I am immediately taken back to college angst. It was our Big Chill movie.

A deadbeat dad apologist

Like lots of other husbands I have to watch too many Hallmark movies each winter, this was the worst one. I thought it was a story about a guy who puts his daughter up for adoption and the inevitable reconciliation. However to discover the guy simply abandoned his family and never reconnected in any manner, emotionally or financially was a shock. He clearly had the financial ability to live up to his responsibility but chose not to. The first Hallmark movie to actually make me angry. How can you glorify a deadbeat dad? I prefer the typical big city girl who opens a bookstore or bookstore to trying to apologize for deadbeat dads.

All Stars (2014)

Could be a documentary

Having lived and coached softball from T-ball to high school varsity this is a 100% accurate description of.girls fast pitch softball. It is a heart warming and hysterical look at the sport. Anyone with a little leaguer will be able to identify every character. I loved this movie.

Clickbait (2021)

Waste of 7 hours time.

The dumbest most contrived ending. I won't waste my time elaborating. Just awful writing, awful. Don't waste your time.

Ted Lasso (2020–2023)

I cannot believe how much I love this show.

I had zero expectations for this show. I like Jason Sedekis but I thought the premise was stupid. Maybe it is the result of 18 months of Covid and years political dysfunction but this show offered a lot of joy. The acting was fine, the characters and character development was the best part of the show. Going from people you despised to just being flawed people who want to do the right thing. The show is funny and dramatic, hopeful but not saccharine or Pollyanna. I highly recommend this show. It is the perfect antidote for everything wrong about the 2020s.
