Bokutachi wa minna otona ni narenakatta (2021)
Nostalgic
Reminds me of my own life. A film like this really transcends itself in many ways. Thank you.
Why such a low rating on IMDB? Well, if you look through the list of most high rated films on this website, you will find super hero and robot action movies...It just tells you the audience here wouldn't get a movie that tells an emotional story.
Yumieui Sepodeul (2021)
Close to home:
Somehow, people don't seem to understand this series? The show is a breakdown of human emotion and the process of falling in and out of love. I felt I could relate to the characters through the entire show. Waiting for season 2!
Stalker (1979)
Time for a rewatch!
I need to watch this one again; what a film! Or more like a moving gallery of visual ideas and internal dilemmas. This film carefully builds the human condition piece by piece and presents it to you near the end. I can definitely see some parallels with existentialist thought (somehow reminds me of a science fiction version of a Dostoevsky novel). Many will not enjoy the pacing though, as with many Tarkovsky films.
Solyaris (1972)
Perfect science fiction:
Here's the standard for me. Please, see this film. Tarkovsky really has a way of creating an atmosphere of introspection and self-reflection. It's hard to find anything negative here. I am certain there are many, however who will have trouble sitting through the entire film just due to the pacing and careful story building process.
Seance on a Wet Afternoon (1964)
Hm...Solid acting.
The actresses/actors here did an excellent job, although (and this may just be me) the plot was a bit droll and predictable, lacking any real climax and just sort of carried on relentlessly. It seems some others thought the story had plenty of twists and turns, but to me it was like an empty hallway.
Vampyr (1932)
Solid, yet confusing for some.
This one plays out much like a short story (best to pay attention to the details). I would say it sets the stage for a lot of future vampire related projects. I enjoyed the atmosphere and classic storyline.
Ad Astra (2019)
Really classic Sc-Fi:
More in the vein of Solaris, I would say; Solaris being one of my favorites (the original Russian film).
Good for people with patience and inquisitive natures. Not for fans of action films or giant robot fights.
Ignore the negative reviews.
Good job, Brad Pitt.
