Private Practice (2007)
Great Actors but they can't save the show on their own
I have been watching since the back door pilot, which should have warned me how the show was going to be. Even so there are such good actors on the cast that I ignored my initial impression of the slow, dragging storyline of Private Practice and watched anyway. I loved Amy B on Judging Amy and Kate Walsh was enjoyable enough on Grey's. I'm also a fan of Taye Diggs. Still there's something missing from the show. Its most upsetting for me to see Amy playing this sad woman, Violet? I'm not sure I enjoy that very much. This season's premiere just proves that even the best of actors can't make do with a so-so plot line. I know Shonda Rimes means well but I'm not interested so far. I guess I don't know where she's going with this. I'll still be watching and expecting more but only to see the actors I love suffering in their roles. Hopefully the writers will give them the gift of better storyline soon.
Heroes (2006)
Could be better but still gets you to watch
I didn't start watching Heroes until I had in my possession the first entire season. After watching it all in one go (with a few breaks) I was hooked. Sure there are big problems with the show. First being that yes they keep adding new characters to the story lines. Secondly there are holes in the plot lines everywhere. Its funny. Niki Sanders coming back as Traci Strauss except not truly being the same woman? Yea they wanted to keep Ali Larter on because she's a great actress, can you blame them? I really wish they'd figure out where they were going but until then I keep watching and wondering. It might be a situation where they've gotten themselves lost in the plot twists. Than again in order to juggle so many characters the plot would be complicated. Life is complicated like that too.
I wouldn't say this is the best show on TV but it is entertaining to see what kind of super powers the writers deem worthy of the new/current characters. I wouldn't expect more than that. After all, most superhero shows are what they are. Action packed and for entertainment only.
Gilmore Girls: It's Just Like Riding a Bike (2007)
setting up for the finale
I don't agree with the last commenter. Rory hasn't been that strong and occasionally falters. After all she is 21/22 and at that age you can't be that strong willed. Life is still coming at you with instability. Of course she's going to have issues. She just lost the one thing she really wanted for her career, so much that she didn't have her Plan B figured out yet. I know how she feels I've been there. I kind of am there still.
I think she needs some single time. After all...her life has been one guy to another. The time she spent without she was faltering. Remember her "dry spell" at Yale between Jess and what she ended up doing? I mean a strong woman isn't going to go sleep with a married man and think there are no consequences. Rory is still learning how to be a strong woman and I don't think it helps that she's always got her boy toys to fall back on.
As for the whole Lorelai/Luke thing I'm glad they're back in their old banter. I appreciate their friendship. I don't appreciate their ill played relationship so I really hope if they go down that road again it won't be as painful to watch.
Paris was funny. I really hope they max out her time on the rest of the show.
What I'm dying to see is Kwan/Quan and Steve and Lane. Where art thou little mixed twin babies whose names the writers must explain or I will continue believing they are random and not what I was hoping for (a tribute to Lane and Zach's musical favorites). I would have preferred Marco and Polo.
