The Hitman (1991)
smooth flowing action movie with humane Norris
19 June 2004
The action scenes are nicely orchestrated and not overdone for this day and age. Norris' anti-racist stance by punching out a racial bigot gives him a very humane and caring character in spite of being a hit man. I particularly like the part where he intrudes on a group of Islamic gangsters eating food, sticks his fingers in their food, tastes it and comments "Do you guys really eat this sh**? Michael Parks and Al Waxman are excellent in their supporting roles. The movie nicely combines Norris' neighbourly concern over the plight of a tenant and her son with his undercover police assignment to take down the bad guys. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this movie a 7.

Sister Kenny (1946)
8/10
A must see biographical movie
12 January 2002
Warning: Spoilers
Set during Field Marshal von Hindenburg's time, the story centres around a dedicated nurse, Rosalind Russell. She continually tries to help the suffering of paralyzed children but has to overcome the obstacles of a narrow minded, bureaucratic medical establishment which refuses to recognize her unique treatment for the children. In the absence of official sanction from the medical establishment, she is ridiculed and threatened with legal action if she continues using her treatment. All this she has endured instead of getting married and leading a happy normal life. One cannot help but admire her dedication and personal sacrifice. Justice triumphs in the end and the numerous children she has helped eventually wish her well on her birthday. This is the ultimate satisfying reward for 20 years of hardship, dedication and sacrifice. Actors Dean Jagger and Alexander Knox provide excellent character and depth to Russell's role. On a scale of 1 to 10 stars, I give this movie 8.

Tense western with the good surviving over evil theme
5 January 2002
Broderick Crawford is great as the criminal leader with a psychopathic ego who must continually show that he is the fastest gun around and Glenn Ford is super as the introverted shy storekeeper with a lightning fast draw. Supporting cast adds good depth and character. The blind man near the start of the movie who states that "no matter how fast you are there's always somebody faster" foretells the moral of the story. Highly recommend that this movie be seen by all fans of westerns.

10/10
atmospheric and mesmerizing vampire film
5 January 2002
I consider that this movie is better than Bela Lugosi's 'Dracula'. The photographic quality is superior and the music adds a great eery element especially with the thick fog moving about. Lugosi's vampire character with enslaved Matt Willis as the obedient evil werewolf is the perfect model of one evil entity being subordinated by a greater evil entity.

The Enforcer (1951)
Great! Have had this video in my movie library for years.

Bogart, who can play a good guy as well as a bad guy, is superb as an honest hard nosed assistant D.A. working with various bits and pieces of information so that enough evidence can be gathered to convict the head man of a murder for business organization. Ted de Corsia is very convincing as the "all nerve and all brain" number 2 man named Rico. The overall storyline has high peaks with very few valleys. Could easily watch this movie another 4 or 5 times.

A good twist on the Kevin McCarthy version and is enjoyable.

Musical score is a bit mesmerizing but seems well-suited for this type of plot. Characters and overall acting are OK. The parents and Forest Whitaker's parts should have been expanded as well as more background given about the origin of the body-invading plants. Give this movie 6 stars out of 10.

The Mummy (1932)
I've seen this movie over 6 times and will see it again.

This movie is excellent. The acting, storyline and plot are great. Comparing the 1932 version of The Mummy with the most current one with Brendan Fraser, I would rate the older version better notwithstanding the millions of dollars spent on actors and special effects for the current version. I could easily watch the 1932 version a dozen more times.
