Can't believe it scored so low
27 October 2022
Obviously rated low by clown haters... This is one of the best horror films I've seen in ages, I can't believe it took me until 2022 to find it! The story is a bit of a mystery but who cares, it's creepy, gory, scary and it's got clowns, so what more could you ask for. I can't wait to watch the 2nd one now! To describe it would be a cross between Texas chainsaw massacre and a nightmare on elm Street, yes it's low budget but strangely the acting is good and the effects are great so it's almost like the low budget feel is deliberate somehow. I can't recommend the film enough for horror fans who haven't seen it yet.

Very poor
21 August 2022
Not sure why it's rated so high, the acting is poor the writing is poor, I so wanted to like this but I just couldn't keep going past episode 3, the first episode was promising but then I just found the characters irritating and ill- fitting and painful to watch.

A way to escape

I have loved this film since my childhood. Don't take it serious just enjoy the ride and the soundtrack, I get shivers up my spine everytime I watch this, it's a film I can watch over and over just to forget all the day to day stresses. It's a classic!

Not very good
29 October 2021
Very slow, poor cheap effects and the story didn't make any sense, nearly gave up half way through, carried on because we just wanted to see where it went but the end was just as pointless as the rest of the film. And the biggest question I was left with was why didn't they just follow the coast in the first place.

Enjoyable but not a classic
9 October 2021
The start and end felt rushed, but the film was generally enjoyable. Not sure why it was hyped quite so much, but definitely worth a watch, but it's unlikely to be a film I return to watch again.

Great acting

This was extremely well acted and was very moving, but I felt it jumped around too much I know its supposed to show the confusion but it felt a little too rushed and unexplained.

Why?
13 April 2021
Having read the book I found this incredibly difficult to watch, I tried to ignore the differences, the jumping around and the poor character building, I tried to judge it as I would a new series not related to the book, but I couldn't, managed half way through the fourth episode and I quit, why can't they just stick to the book.

I probably over rating this
9 April 2021
But... Why such bad reviews? I expected to hate this but I found it entrancing and trippy, I couldn't stop watching the ears and tails, I fully understand why people might hate it, but for me it was just plain weird strange and oddly enjoyable, don't be put off and give it a go I guess it's the marmite of films but I love marmite.

Needs a new soundtrack
7 March 2021
This would have been so much better if it had a more traditional soundtrack, as is... it's just average, but it still had it's good moments and was a reasonable kids movie that made us laugh a couple of times. Whoever decided on a modern soundtrack really dropped the ball!

Surprisingly good film
6 March 2021
What a great film, really enjoyed watching it, loved all the characters and the build up just reminded me of the first time I watched films like Sleeping With The Enemy, Pacific Heights etc

Not that bad

Never heard of the books, so came at this with fresh eyes, to me it's a poor rip off of Harry Potter, but it was still watchable once.

Disappointed fan
30 December 2019
I'm just so glad we can watch IV, V and VI without needing any other of these films all have been enjoyable in their own little way but all are easy to forget. This film being no different, it's just too over the top, how on earth did they think it up? It feels like each film has been made by a little kid bragging about how much better my movie would be than yours.

Yes its a rehash of dirty rotten scoundrels and no its nowhere near as good, but it has its funny moments and overall just a good old piece of mindless fun that i enjoyed watching, why do people get so serious over films these days?

Ignore the negative reviews by book lovers
10 August 2019
We really enjoyed this film, however I haven't read the books so perhaps we were able to judge on it's own merits. Found it to be similar to Blade and really enjoyed it, don't be put off by the bad reviews if you haven't read the books, because you will miss a great action film.

Terrible
16 July 2019
I just felt I had to write my first review. I was a fan of the first film and the book. However within 10 minutes I knew it was going to be a struggle to watch this version, however I tried my best to be open minded. The characters felt shallow, I felt no connection at all with them, it really felt like they rushed through the build up because they were so excited to show their alternative ending, the best thing about this movie is that it reminded me to go watch the first movie which I hadn't seen in a long time. This film was not deserving of such a fantastic title, very disappointed. Even if it carried a different title I would only have offered it a 4 at best, but it deserves to lose another two for shaming the pet semetary name.

Entertaining family movie, don't be swayed by the negative comments and rating
14 February 2010
Don't be mislead by the overall rating, we found this movie very entertaining when in needed of some light entertainment for the evening!

Yes the story is run of the mill seen before stuff but it was well put together and flowed well enough, it certainly took me back to my childhood and the weekly trip to the video shop with my dad to rent a family film for the night, and can only imagine it would be great for kids (unfortunately ours is not old enough yet to appreciate anything other than tellytubies).

I definitely put it up with all the good old 80's classics like goonies, back to the future etc, as a no brains good old adventure... can also recommend spiderwick chronicles as a similar fantasy adventure film!
