Ive seen Andrew's onyx character before. Searching through youtube I had run across "arbys guy" and found the video mildly amusing. When it comes to comedy, it takes a special kind to get me to laugh. ( not unlike people who claim they don't scare easy from horror movies)

Onyx is very funny and I LOL at many of his lines in this film. The rest of the cast was great and I would like to see where Andrew can take this. The effects were cheesy but worked within the context of the movie. I apologize for the review being all over the place but I recommend this for people who enjoy either Andrew's videos or have an open mind for horror comedy that delivers big on a low budget!

Trash Humpers (2009)
8/10
Ahead of its time yet made about 20 years too late....

Warning: Spoilers
I like weird stuff. I will admit when it comes to "art" I really enjoy movies and music that is avant-garde in nature. The concept of this being a found artifact is interesting in that the camera also becomes a character in the film. For what purpose was this made? Many will say to shock and unnerve, which nowadays is almost impossible to do. Perhaps it was to alienate critics or to show that fans will watch anything with his name attached to it. I tend to think there is more to it and here's why.

Whether humping trash has any deep meaning to it, I can't say for sure, but Harmony seems to find beauty in the dark, gritty, images shot with his camera. Proof can be seen towards the end with scene after scene of streetlights buzzing in orange and buildings illuminated with fluorescent lighting.

What was also intriguing to me was the spoken word/poetry given by a few characters encountered throughout the film. Reminded me of what you would find in a coffee house with beatniks ranting about life living under the "man". No matter how grisly their environment is, does not mean that people who live like this aren't themselves, "thinkers". Were these people actors? Or was this film a way to spotlight their street beat? Only Harmony knows for sure.

If only this came out back in the 90's or late 80's I think people might have responded a little better to it. People just aren't ready for this type of film and the irony is that they have seen it all before...

Why do I like this movie?
1 December 2007
Out of everybody I ask, I am the only one that likes this movie. So much in fact that I went out and bought it, and now I'm writing a review for it. Maybe I smoke too much pot! Anyway when it comes to making a great horror film, I think its imperative to have a great score, that is if you plan on having one at all. The music I believe was done beautifully, I really liked how they did the opening credits. Another thing that is interesting to me is the concept of an invisible killer. On the initial viewing I kept thinking at any moment a masked killer is going to start offing them one by one, but instead its a virus! Perhaps its a metaphor for something else. I agree with the other viewers there are scenes put in the movie that just don't make sense other than to add comic relief. But yet this would be a trademark for Eli Roth. By the way I think he is a fine director and has a passion for the horror genre and I will continue to watch future movies that he is involved with.

so-so

I've never read the story but this movie is ok with an unusual plot in which shapeshifting cat-like monsters who are also incestuous (mother and son) feed on the blood of young women. It's a quite different premise for a movie, but i thought that the girl who played Tanya was effective. I really felt sorry for her, i don't know whether it was the helplessness in her voice or the way she acted. She is quite a beautiful actress i think, even moreso than some A-list actresses that i have seen. I am really biased in my opinion because of this girl since she struck a cord within me. If you don't agree with me upon seeing this than i apologize for making you watch and otherwise ok movie.

You know i think some people take this movie critic thing a little too serious. Some people watch a movie, and they aren't happy because it had this, or not enough of that, or the acting was bad(understandable), but the important question that should be above all is, did it entertain you? I mean after all that's what a movie ultimately is supposed to do right? A good plot with a strong message is nice, which i feel this movie delivers. Im partial to this because i like Sally Field and Kiefer Sutherland, and i felt that they played their performances well. If i can be a nitpicker for a moment, i will say that at times the scenes can be a little over-dramatic, but sometimes it's good to be reminded it's just a movie. "Eye for an Eye" entertained me.

remarkable

I still remember this show from when i used to watch it on Nickelodeon. This idea started out i believe as little shorts that the network would put in between other shows and commercials. I just loved this show, it had some zany characters and storylines, but they all worked! The theme music, played by the group Polaris, haunts me to this day. I find myself humming it from time to time. If you get a chance to see this, you should, it's something different, and quite entertaining.

i liked it

I remember seeing this when i was fairly young about 10 years ago or so. I didn't like it as much as the first one although i thought it was pretty good anyway. I feel that i have to write this to comment on one of the short stories in the movie and that was "The Raft." Easily the best out of the 3 of stories, this one focuses on a group of kids that go to a secluded lake and take a swim, out to some floating raft. They notice a huge oil slick floating around them. It turns out that this thing eats anything and will eventually eat them all. What i liked best about this one was the ending, totally surprised me. No one gets out alive!

pleasantly surprised

Ok i must say that i am not at all into hip hop culture, and originally refused to see this movie because i felt it was going to be one of those typical movies where everything had all been done before. After seeing it though i was very surprised that i liked it. The characters are very real, especially Julia's and Sean's. I felt that the movie had an excellent theme underlying it all, but what had the most effect on me was the dance scene toward the end. I'm not sure if Julia is actually doing the dancing, but whoever that is doing it, is simply amazing. It literally took my breath away, my eyes were glued to the screen. I recommend this movie to everyone, especially if you are into dancing, like myself.

this show does rock

I remember watching this on Nickelodeon when i was younger. I never missed an episode, im pretty sure that i have seen all of them. My favorite has to be the one where Ted McGriff is left in charge of the ranch when Mr. Ernst leaves for the day. Needless to say, Ted takes it over the top with his rules and citations. Very funny! I wish Nickelodeon would show reruns of this series. It is by far one of my favorites.

huh?

This movie caught me off guard. It wasn't at all what i expected, and i wouldn't recommend it to anyone because it wasn't anything that i enjoyed. What was weird about this whole movie is i was expecting a comedy and it did have some funny moments (i guess) but then was surprised to find it have some violent and serious overtones throughout it. I guess it's not that shocking of a movie, but it is when you are expecting something totally different. They totally tried to market this as a comedy, at least all the trailers that i have seen.

Matthew McConaughey is pure genius!!!
23 October 2001
I must say that this pales in comparison to the original as far as being scary, but i found that this film is laugh out loud funny. There are some pretty good one liners in it, especially Matthew McConaughey's. I think that he played his character very well. A lot of people won't like this movie, but if you like campy b horror movies then this one you might like.
