Fall (2022)
Scarier than any horror film!
Firstly, I have to admit, I have an intense fear of heights. So you might be wondering why I even wanted to watch this film in the first place. The answer is morbid curiosity. The trailer was enough for my legs to go wobbly, and the best films are the films that affect you both mentally and physically.
It's basically a 2 hander, Becky and Hunter, 2 best friends, climbing a ridiculously high rickety rusty tower in the middle of the desert & after a series of unfortunate events, finding themselves stuck at the very top.
Whilst predictable and quite unbelievable in parts, this low budget movie boasts outstanding cinematography and thrills galore, and the 2 main protagonists are played convincingly by a pair of relatively unknown actresses.
My palms were sweaty throughout, my legs went wobbly a number of times, and I found myself mouthing 'don't do it!' as Becky and Hunter devised ever more crazy ways to try & get themselves out of the predicament they had stupidly put themselves in to.
If, like me, you're terrified of heights, you're likely to find Fall scarier than any horror film!
Forget the implausibities, just enjoy the nerve shredding thrills. It's a 10 for me, vertigo achieved, and then some!
Stranger Things: Chapter Seven: The Massacre at Hawkins Lab (2022)
Just wow!
Season 4 has just overtaken season 1 in my eyes, and I thought that was impossible!
This episode is the cherry on top of a delicious TV cake, all the ingredients being added throughout the course of the season. So many questions are answered here, and a couple of the revelations will blow your mind!
The episode is movie length, but flies along at breakneck speed, leaving you breathless at the end.
Hats off to everyone involved, it's very rare to have a show that is part mystery, part thriller, part buddy movie, part comedy, part love story and part horror (the biggest part!) and pull every one of them off convincingly!
The acting is incredible, the regular cast are as wonderful as always, and the new characters feel authentic and relatable and fit right in perfectly.
I can't find any flaw to this season, and this episode especially, it's perfect! Wow!
